The General Winter is undefeated.
Um, the mongols beg to differ
Until admiral spring comes along
Unless you're the Mongols
George and his mostly barefoot Continental Army has entered the chat
@@rumo893 then why did Mongol retreat in winter when sieging China Song at Sze Chuan? The winter there isn't as cold as Russia. Also why did Mongols avoid winter campaign during Ming dynasty? Why didn't Mongol replicate Russia campaign later?
Anyone that doesn't understand the difficulties of cold weather, has never trained in the cold. It is miserable, everything takes twice as long, and is twice as hard.
I’m a soldier station in Alaska. All of our winter field operations turn into a mess; and catching frostbite wasn’t very fun.
Search about the Siachen conflict its the world highest and coldest battlefield and in 1987 India and Pakistan fought over it.
And you need twice the food. If not more
It's not gay when it's cold.
Absolutely. Mountain warfare training was 10x harder than living 115 degrees fahrenheit. Numb hands make everything sloppy
My great grandmother has been through so much. She was born in 1922, in a lower class family. At a young age they moved to Amsterdam, and she worked at a shop owned by Jewish people if I remember correctly. Then WW2 came, and of coarse she wasn't allowed to work there anymore.
She helped to hide Jewish people in a forest near Amsterdam, where the Germans didn't want to come because there were mosquitos carrying malaria.
In late 1944 or early 1945 a German soldier helped her escape to the by then liberated southern Netherlands where she lived for a while.
She always remained rather poor, and in her lifetime got malaria, polio, Tuberculosis, and possibly more diseases, which she all survived.
She eventually passed away aged 93 in January 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
jesus, that is just..... crazy!
What's her name? If she helped to hide Jews in WWII, then she has a name in an Israeli museum.
Requiescant in Pace.

The quality of the animations has really improved a lot
especially that guy carrying the box..
Can’t say the same about the voiceover
@@ryanjohn6690 That's for sure. They're really cheaping out on the voice narration. Hard to listen to.

If they are properly trained and equipped winter can be an ally. Being born and raised in the mountains and forests of northern B.C. winter holds no fear for me.
I live in Alaska and the wind is indeed extremely brutal all over the state's coastal regions. Last winter, we had a windstorm last for five days. It was so constant and intense that it damaged multiple buildings and froze pipes due to wind chill. The worst part is the sound, you can hear tree branches whipping against your house and snow flakes rapidly striking windows. It's unpleasant even with a cozy warm house, i can't understand how these poor guys survived weeks in similar conditions
I've been to Attu. Kind of wild that everything is left just as it was, and totally uninhabited.
General winter seems to favour the defenders in a conflict
They have an incredibly YOLO strategy that everyone else has to play around
No matter how experienced an attacking force is with winter it seems they’ll always lose. Supported by the insane losses the USSR took in the invasion of Finland
I love these hour long compilations, it helps me fall asleep listening to these cool stories
A small error with the animation at 6.51. One of the soldiers has a PPSH-41 which had not been invented at the time
must thumb up!
Maybe it's a captured Suomi that inspired the PPSh-41, but yeah
Not in Vietnam, even though Vietnam is now a US ally against the Chicoms.
I was impressed by being able to recognize many of the models in the correct countries characters hands. Most youtubers would have given all of them ar15 looking AKs even for ww1
@@gaoxiaen1what are you blabbin about
Out of 10 French and European soldiers in the 1812 invasion of Russia 7 died of illness or cold and 1 died in combat or was captured and 2 came back alive. It's insane how the man called God of War in his lifetime was vanquished by a natural disaster with the coldest winter of the last 200 years in his time. It also explain why Tsar Alexandr was taken by religious fervor and saw this war as a divine mission when it only meant more decades of oppression and backwards feudalism for the russians instead of European conquered lands witch would rapidly develop thanks to Napoleonic Code of law and justice.
And also how the coldest winter was in 1941 I think I really do believe that fate has something to do with these. It's almost too odd that the coldest winters were during some kind of invasion it's strange
@@nickmerino9440 the chances of it being cold only during invasions is actually quite high all things considered. Even a 0.5% chance of it happening is actually much higher than the chances of anyone winning the lottery ever.
@@nickmerino9440 Salpeter concentration in athmosphere
God has 2 hands. Never forget that
During Napoleon’s retreat, during which the majority died, only 5-10% of casualties were from combat.
You forgot to mention the Swedish invasion of Russia in 1708-1709. They were ultimately screwed over by the winter and crushed at the Battle of Poltava.
“Ill prepared combatants don’t stand a chance in the cold.” In other news, water is wet
water is actually not wet
Water is wet
@@CommonCasual wetness only happens when a liquid touches another object (mostly solids) so water by itself is not wet. (🤓 i already did it for u)
@@sacredsam6046 water makes things wet correct? So if something is covered in water it must be wet and not dry. I'm pretty sure water is not dry so it must be wet
@@GrosvnerMcaffrey Wet is when a liquid touches something dry. Dry is the absence of liquid water is neither wet nor dry

I trained in worlds most artic Brigade in Finland. The Lapland Jägerbrigade. 200km up from arcticcircle and yes it was cold.🇫🇮🇺🇦✌️
My girlfriend is from Russia and they are built differently. She walks around in January in shorts with flip flops. Winter in the states is nothing like what she grew up with in Russia and it doesn't faze her. I think this is part of what has given the Russians an edge. Not only are they better equipped specifically for the Russian winter while other people are prepared for their winter, Russians just aren't cold when other people are freezing cold.
Yea! They have become the cold.
She's probably not outside for 2+ hours.
Their women are also equipped with the best ballistics too…
Regular people suffer from the cold. But the cold fears Russians.
I had a Russian girlfriend. Moscow. Hot A.F. Super smart. Unbelievably beautiful. Wicked sense of humor. But she was a serious alcoholic. When she drank I soon realized “this girl is gonna kill me.” Literally. Always apologetic the next day. Sweet as can be. And very much took care of her man in a traditional way with traditional sensibilities. But add alcohol and violence and hardcore vitriol were the order of the day. I had to move to a new state to get away🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Except for the Mongols.
When simple history makes a 1 hour video you know this is gonna be interesting.
Haven't watched you guys in 5 years. Damnnn
Same, cool to see how much they have improved
Simple logic…for anybody use to do sport outdoor and sometimes getting to cold, while its raining and its cold and forced to stop for some reason…or hiking and falling into a river/lake or anything like that.
Unprepared Armies can't fight in the cold.
I was an officer in the Canadian Army Combat Arms and we operated in conditions between -10 and -30 C for months at at time every year. I've been on deployments up near the Artic circle where the temperatures were -60 C and under. The unit did just fine and when the weather went back to a balmy -30 C we were back on the move and ready for battle.
That's because you were prepared. Most armies don't have that luxury.
Indian army, pakistan army: those are rookie numbers
It's all about preparation and acclimation . If either are lacking , it's an utter mess.
Very good job fellows!! Congratulations throughout the 4th week of said March y'all. The quality of the animations has really improved a lot dudes!
I remember in my own countries history, where tribes would fight with eachother when winter came everyone stopped fighting eachother, mainly due too the fact that we did have enough food to supply an army during the winter aswell as their populace

You have to feed and maintain a machine, cold just increases difficulties and supply usage. It's crazy how many millions of people have bled on European soil. I don't blame aliens for taking a pass on saying hello to this planet.
Sir how do you know that aliens know that we exist
I hate how people assume aliens are just better, more peaceful beings. All life is based around death. Chimps fight wars, as do ants and many, many other animals.
Where did you find your statistical data concerning the effects of cold weather about survival time of a wounded soldier?
My grandfather was in the Azul Division . Leningrad was his front and avoided getting trapped in Estonia . He fought in Berlin in I think Waffen as 112 division surrendered to the Yankee’s got home in 1947/8

Forgot to mention how the Finns would stand the frozen Russian corpses up on the sides of the road in whatever macabre position they died in
General Winter seems to be against the aggressor & in defense of the weaker army…
Why change the narrator?!?!
It's all about dressing properly and staying dry.
Pennsylvania deer hunters knew this for a couple of centuries. Russian soldiers are just learning this the hard way.
8:05 look at the two guys “pushing” the truck
Us Canadians, Fins, Swedish, Norwegians, and even the Russians. We know how to battle in the COLD... cause we LIVE IN IT!
Ngl, I kinda even love it when I have a winter ftx. We can have more fun. We can wear summer gear over our winter gear and look like total idiots while retaining the heat. Of course layering prevents the too stupid stuff, so it's mostly sunglasses and hats.
Russians don't. Siberians, Dageshtanis, Buryats, and Yakuts do. They don't consider themselves Russian, only occupied by Russians.
Ya know, as a Canadian from one the farthest north major city in the country, I think that so long as we were to remain allied with the EU or America (to move troops through) and with enough of an increase in our military spending which if it came down to it would definitely happen, Canada could take Russia.

12:06 "tempuratures as low as -40° celsius, or -40° Fahrenheit"
The German failure in ww2 wasn't exactly all down to failure to plan. Soviet defensive doctrine played a big role too. Had the soviets held at the border instead of withdrawing and scorching the earth behind them, the Germans would have been far closer their supply depots
Germans were beaten mostly by logistics. Lack of oil reserves and long supply lines constantly hit by partisans would slow and stop any army.
"In the concurrent conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the oncoming winter will provide it's own challenges to the fighting."
*video published in March*
Just asking, why the Ukrainian soldiers in the video so well equipped? Russian soldiers might be true with armour vest and helmet, but those Ukrainian looks more equipped than some western special forces, they even use some modern rifles I think, even better than normal US soldiers. It they were equipped like that, the war would be more brutal.
Whats that music in the background in the very beginning?
Shootout cost 28 American lives and 4 Canadian lives, I'll remember that fact for senseless arguing with allies for the rest of my life.

Napoleon Bonaparte was better off attacking England he may have Won Waterloo with 600,000 troops
Or it might have just ended up against the lines of Torres Vedras.
His belief in living off the land was great for speed, less so for sustaining armies in the face of scorched earth.
