Dramatic Landing At Dublin Airport During Ophelia

Passengers aboard a flight from Faro to Dublin Airport had a bumpy landing as the pilot negotiated winds caused by ex-Hurricane Ophelia.
Met Éireann, the Irish weather service, warned that Ophelia was likely to be the most severe weather event to hit the country in over 50 years.
Schools and universities were closed throughout Dublin and across the country, and travel services were widely disrupted.
The UK’s Met Office said Ophelia had been downgraded to an ex-hurricane, but would still bring “significant impacts to Northern Ireland and western and northern Britain.”
At least two people were reported to have died in incidents related to the severe weather.

Actually I was in a Ryanair flight that landed yesterday at 2pm at the Dublin airport during the hurricane peek time and I must say that it was a smooth landing!
Maybe we were just lucky... or maybe we just had a great pilot!

I'm not saying that this was full auto land, but Yes, there is such a thing, many modern airplanes today are equiped with MLS and ILS auto land systems divided into 3 categories depending on weather conditions, CAT III autolanding is applied in the most extreme weather conditions when visibility is reduced to zero able to land the plane without human intervention. In all other normal landing situations, the plane is doing almost all the work while the pilot is in charge of minor steering and speed corrections.
