Would've been a better idea. F-zero climax and gp legend are better than maximum velocity too. Shame nintendo didn't really market the anime but glad it was on fox box for some episodes years ago.

Asking the real questions
They’ve never actually even stated that Zero Mission is coming. I mean it’s definitely likely, but in contrast they’ve already had F Zero revealed and lined up since the intitial announcement of the GBA Online app a year ago. For the expansion pack tier services, they tend to only release things that they’ve previously announced were coming. There are exceptions, like the games immediately following the first batch of N64 titles before the subsequent Direct where they revealed more, and the recent Rare titles. But GBA almost never has shadow drops. Yes, we can assume they’ll add Zero Mission eventually, but they never promised it or even mentioned it.

Edit: To everyone under this talking about the Rare and MAR10 drops… I was referring to Game Boy Advance games. There are so many gems that have been withheld.
I mean there were 3 Gameboy games added like 2 weeks ago. And five Rare games added in the previous month.

I really got into F-Zero when 99 was big. I've played them before and enjoyed but the recent releases have me wanting more of the series.
Now if they add GP-Legend or Climax, that would be awesome

There are 2 games I really want on Switch online. Metroid Zero Mission and Smash Bros 64
For me, its DK64, Banjo-Tooie, Smash 64, and Mystical Ninja starring Goemon
Classic games are usually gate kept by Nintendo until sales are drying up. So we're not gonna see those games for a long time.
I just wish they bring back the Gamboy Advance Pokémon games. We be all reliving those glory days again

Happy to see F-Zero finally get some love
Where's this love? The re-release of one game on NSO and a free-to-play asset swap of the original F-Zero, now with online multiplayer isn't much love in my opinion. If Nintendo wants to show love, they need to do something impactful, and so far reception for F-Zero 99 was mixed and overwhelmingly disappointed, and this again.. just a re-release of an older game, with no new features or additions, and locked behind what I still consider an overpriced online subscription.

honestly it feels like not many people talk about the gba F Zero games despite there being like three of them.
Yeah, I feel like most people wanting a new F-Zero have never played the GBA games
a lot of people dislike the heavy, slippery controls of Maximum Velocity. and i don't blame them, the original F-Zero had more intuitive and comfortable physics, the change here is weird
@@UmbraVivens94Can't really agree here - I grew up with the SNES original and still struggle today at times with the controls. Maximum Velocity however is far more precise and easy to control, don't get the criticism there. The first four vehicles are not the best, but you can unlock a lot more and there are really great ones among them.
To be fair, X and GX really gave lasting impressions of F-Zero for most people. Smash Bros. also heavily references both games more than they did the Classic ones until 3DS./Wii U. That and aside from Maximum Velocity, which most of those fans shunned way back (for not being like X despite MV being on something that isn't N64), GP Legend and Climax especially just never did the numbers. And also they really did push the Classic style a lot. To fans of the 3D titles at the time, there was way too much of only one style and not enough 3D to compensate.

Would be awesome, but will absolutely never happen. If Nintendo pretends their older consoles don't exist, they REALLY pretend their failed older hardware doesn't exist. Satellaview, Pokémon Mini, N64DD, Virtual Boy, they've all been swept under the rug. I'd like one example where Nintendo re-released any of these games in the last 15 years. Trick question, you can't find one because it never happened.
@@pigfish99 They can even redesign Forest I and Forest II to have a healing section for the classic race. A time-based mode can be added to be based on the broadcasts where you can keep on racing or crashing until time is up to go to the next race.

Fun fact: We’re now caught up to every Switch Online game that Nintendo has announced. So, either we’re going to get an announcement for more stuff soon, or absolutely nothing at all. 💀
I reckon we'll probably get more games soon and the next set will be announced on an upcoming Direct. They'll probably be the last set too before the Switch 2 comes out either late this year or next year.

If we don't get an announcement, we'll def be getting some blind stealth announcements, at least until the next gen console arrives. This past two months alone saw games we had no knowledge were coming.

It's also true that either Nintendo will make an announcement for new roadmaps or we'll get nothing at all.
The Nintendo Switch Successor will definitely be released next year so it's basically hard to tell at this point.

@@TimedRevolver I'm pulling for the 2nd one specifically because it's multiplayer, and would benefit from the whole "online" aspect. The 1st one can come along later, too. I just don't want Konami pulling another 2-game "collection" pack, offline only, way too high a price, and using the lowest common platform features so they can make it mulitplat.

I like the sudden leniency with F-Zero, it's finally getting it's shot in the lime light again with some little sprinkles here and there, and I hope this culminates in a new game finally. BUT, that doesn't stop this from being a little underwhelming as one of two games in months for GBA Switch Online, and the inclusion of "updates" in the title when it's only one game is misleading.

I get that people are disappointed it's only one game, but it makes me happy to see more people experience a game that was a big part of my childhood. Great OST as well - I gotta recommend "Cloud Carpet" if you like SNES/GBA-style game music.
My #1 wish for Nintendo Switch Online right now is that they add a mainline Pokémon game. I’m also excited to play this though

My favorite in the 2D F-Zero series. This game has an awesome soundtrack! It also kept with the original F-Zero's storytelling style, which is.. basically none except for digging for little things Nintendo said about it, and whatever was in the instruction manual. I'm okay with this though. I'm okay with making things up, or just playing a really solid racing game.
It's so cool to see F-Zero getting more love, I hope we can get a new F-Zero, or maybe even a remaster of F-Zero GX with Online support, that would be awesome.

They never announced Zero Mission as even coming. With the GBA app, they follow a pretty specific order with what they’ve already announced. Unlike some of the other Switch Online Apps, they’ve done very few if any shadow drops for GBA. This announcement of F Zero coming will finally wrap up the first batch of GBA titles that were announced a year ago when the GBA app launched. I would imagine an announcement of a new wave of games is coming, probably in a Direct at some point, and probably also including the next batch of N64 titles, because they finally finished that list of releases, too.
If I’m not mistaken, the first three Mario Advance titles and the Japanese only rerelease of Mother 3 are the only GBA titles that have been added that were not on that original list of their gameplan when the GBA app dropped.

Nintendo, you do know there were pokemon games on the gba, right, shove pokemon emerald on expansion pack and it’ll triple in sales
They seem to be having issues with their emulation. So Pokémon might be a big ask, because if the clock in those games goes wonky, everything falls apart.
That's why we still don't have Donkey Kong 64. Notoriously difficult to emulate well.
@@TimedRevolverWhy would the clock go wonky? The reason that happened in the GBA versions is because of the internal battery running dry, which doesn't exist on NS.

Legal limbo with THQ, who published the games in North America.
Sega did publish the games in Europe and Japan, hence why they got those games on Wii U Virtual Console. The only way to get them now would be if Sega decided to remake them using the Sonic Mania engine and give them the Origins treatment.
Please if anyone has seen it recorded on to VHS the remaining dub episodes of 4kids F-Zero GP Legend English dub adaptation eps 16-26. Please archieve them. They are lost media and may have only aired in New Zealand! Or for Nintendo to stream it on CZcams themselves!
