I received mine last week. I normally play a Joola CFS16 Hyperion. I find the LP amazing for the price and would have paid the same price as the Joola. I find it it very controllable with no tape. I have the lead tape on my Ben Johns. I think it’s more stable than the BJ. It doesn’t seem to have as much power to me but I find myself making better shots, and new shots I couldn’t get with my Joola. Probably because of the spin it has. I did put an over grip on and it’s just right. Not as big as the Ben Johns handle with no over grip. I like both paddles a lot and not sure what I’m going to do. I did order a second Legacy Pro because for the price it’s a fantastic paddle.
Just want to add that the weight of both paddles came out to 8.28, no lead on the Legacy and some lead on the BJ. Even though the weight is identical the LP feels like it’s faster in the hand.
Great review and breakdown, lead tape part is so true!
Glad you're enjoying the paddle. No such luck for me. I ordered mine on January 17. I have emailed the company several times to inquire on the status of my order but did not receive any response from them. Not happy!
I started to tell you about the owner being in the comments below but you found that out.
great follow up! I really want to pickup a Spartus 16 before the 20% off sale ends I don't feel like I need paddle pop to generate power. Just want something I can shape the ball flight and improve my dink/drops
I appreciate the comment! You can't go wrong with the spartus 16mm. My brother loves that paddle. He hated that I had to send them back in lol. Definitely order it before the sale ends if you're going to. I doubt theyll do another sale like that again since their paddles are already pretty cheap
Y’all make me wanna go play! Sending love from CO!
Hi Lucia!! I hope y'all have been doing good!
Can’t wait for your overgrip video! I’m definitely wondering which ones are the best, and which brand is the most used, because I’ve seen a ton of people use what looks like the same brand, but it has a bunch of different vibrant colors for the grip
I'm going to reach out to some companies about sending some so I'll have a bunch to show everyone and explain the difference between all of them. Sometimes when I tell companies I'm going to say both pros and cons they say they'll pass lol.. We'll see if they send any for the video. If not I can pull up the info on their site and discuss how I feel about them. It'd just be a better presentation if they are in front of me. I can show their thickness etc. I hope you're doing good!!
@@FarmerLankyPickleball Thanks for your follow-up review. I have a Legacy Pro on-order.
Related to your upcoming overgrip review, as a long-time, former tennis player, I've used a lot of different overgrips. My clear favorites are:
1) For a tacky grip: Yonex SuperGrap.
2) For absorption and a soft feel: Solinco Heaven.
For pickleball, I use the Solinco Heaven exclusively. It's like a softer, better feel, better absorbing Tourna Grip.
One advantage of the Solinco Heaven grip over a more tacky grip is that it's easier to quickly change grips during a point, such as from an Eastern to Continental, and vice-versa.
You might want to consider those 2 grips in your review, if they'll send them to you.
Nice job. Thanks. 👍
We appreciate the comment. Thank you! Have a good day and stay safe!!
So now that we’ve heard that the Legacy Pro has been “fixed” to correct any separation of the core from the carbon surface, what happens to its power and reported difficulty by some to control it? Will the reviews now change?
Getting mine middle of March was supposed to be mid Feb but got pushed back. Gonna be like Christmas day when it gets here.
Oh I bet you can't wait!! Finally getting the paddle you want is gonna have you smiling from ear to ear on the pickleball courts lol.
I'm in the same boat. Also ordered mine in mid February and had just received an email from the owner stating that the factory had to add more resin to its process and also that a second factory is coming up to speed. Expecting a new supply of 15,000 paddles by mid-March. I've been playing a power air S2 but found the handle too short. So the longer handled Legacy Pro looks like what I need for singles. However, based on this review, I don't know if I'll be able to switch between the power air and the Legacy during a tournament.
Nice review. I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Legacy. Coming from a Pro Kennex Flight, this should be an interesting switch!
Let me know what you think when you get it!!
@@FarmerLankyPickleball I will definitely give you my report. Now the Legacy website is estimating shipping the 1st and 2nd week of March.
@@rteitel1974 after talking with sixzero, vatic and legacy, all of them seem to be struggling to keep up with demand right now. I'd almost bet CRBN is struggling to get their 1x in stock as well
I know it isn't thermoformed but I got the Ronbus R3.16 for $107 shipped. Now that's a steal.
Thats definitely a steal! I recommend Ronbus paddles to people in my area all the time. They perform good, are budget friendly and they have an extremely nice owner as well. They could be selling their paddles for $180+ like the major brands.
I’m trying to decide between Legacy Pro and R1.16
Do you have a CRBN eraser? Helps clean off the plastic from the balls hitting the paddle surface.
Ya I use it about every other week. I don't wanna over use it out of fear of messing up the paddle
Thanks bud! 💪🏼👊🏻
No problem! I hope you don't mind me using footage of you trying to break your paddle in this video. I should have used it in the original video but I wasn't thinking
Have a good day!!
@@FarmerLankyPickleball it’s ok. You need to make it down to Bama and grab some games with us soon.
If I can ever get away from the farm I'd definitely be down lol
Maybe I missed it....are you playing mostly INdoors with and indoor ball? Which ball?
I'm 99% indoor on gym floors, so the Onix Fuse and the Core indoor ball are what I use.
Since the ball surface doesn't get scuffed up by the court, I wonder if there will be as much transfer of material from the balls to the paddle face.
I'm a long-time Players Pickleball paddle user(prefer USA made paddles); but I felt I needed to try the Legacy Pro...waiting like so many others to receive mine!!!
I've play both indoors and outdoors. It's mostly indoors right now though but once it gets in the 60s I'll be outside alot. I use franklin x-40 for outdoor and park and rec usually buys onix fuse indoor balls for us all to use. You could definitely be onto something about the ball getting scuffed by the surface
Any idea WHAT'S GOING ON WITH LEGACY?? Delay after delay. Ordered Legacy Pro early Feb and keep getting delayed with no reason or timeline. They said 2nd week of Feb, then said 3rd week of March, now additional 3 weeks more. WTH is going on??? There is no info forthcoming. These are paid orders with NO PADDLE. ANYONE KNOW WHY THIS IS HAPPENING???
I’ve had 3 Legacy paddles one got dents on the face,(really), the other 2 now have a loose edge guard, these are quality problems, but playing is super deluxe with Legacy paddles.
Oh wow!! I'm hearing more and more problems from people playing with Legacy paddles lately. Idk what's causing the problems
@@FarmerLankyPickleball can you do a review on the Cheetah thermoform 16mm edgeless? Thanks!
Great video. I’m sorry if this has been asked and answered somewhere else but how would you compare the Legacy Pro to the Vatic series or the Ronbus series? Thanks man!
The legacy has more pop and is harder to control. The ronbus R1 is a soft control paddle. The Vatic is a mix between the two in my opinion.
@@FarmerLankyPickleball Thank you!! Which Vatic?
Luved the pop but I just couldnt control my dinks and resets with this paddle. Sold it and switched to the 6.0 Double Black Diamond which I am enjoying
I definitely understand that. It took me a bit to get used to it. There are 2 different paddle or paddle types that feel different than anything else I've played with. It's the Legacy and EVA foam paddles. Both took alot longer to get used to. I'll be reviewing the 6.0 DBD and I'm very interested how it feels based off of your opinion and others opinion
@@FarmerLankyPickleball it has more pop than nearly all raw carbon fiber paddles that dont have the injected foam edges but still plays like a control paddle to me which I prefer. Its a bit stiffer than most raw carbon fiber paddles but it didnt seem to impact my control. I also liked the shape, it was between a standard and elongated paddle shape. I also tried the regular Black Diamond and felt it was basically a Legacy Pro in a different shape
Did you consider trying a Vatic V7 or Vatic Flash?
Deciding between Legacy, Six Zero, and Vatic is tough. I am waiting until Legacy and Vatic come out with new offerings in March. I do not want to pay for a CRBN 1X whose grit is going to wear off quickly.
@@republiusrepublius8360 i have the V7 as well and its great. Very similar to the DBD just a different shape
Did you feel like you couldn’t control it due to the pop?
Great video as always !!! In regards to lead tape what did your Legacy come in at? How much lead tape did you use and what wait are you playing at now? Keep up the great work.
I didn't weigh it. I ran it from the beginning of the handle up to the end of the throat. 1 piece on each side. Thank you for this comment. I'll show the lead tape setup and try to find scales to weigh the paddles in future videos. Here is the lead tape I use. I hope your Sunday is going good!!
www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06VVFYWNQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
@@FarmerLankyPickleball By the bye, that tape is twice the density(kinda, it's really the thickness) than most out there. Most are 1gram per inch, so that's something to consider. I found the 2 gram/in tape to be a little clunky. The same folks have a 1gram/in tape that I find more flexible and easy to work with.
The 1/4" wide tapes are spendy and silly for someone wanting to actually add a significant amount of weight. I'd have to spend over $10 per paddle to achieve my usual weight of 9.2oz !!
Fortunately, I've been weighting tennis rackets and now paddles for three decades ;)
Can anyone compare the Legacy Pro to Engage Pursuit MX 6.0?
Does anyone know how the power compares to the black diamond power model? Thanks!
I was told to reach out to them in early april so I should be able to compare the power then. I'm sorry that's no help to you now though.
No worries brother - love the vids!
Legacy Pro is made in China though. Which paddle company offers this quality at around 150 made in the US?
I received my paddle after several months of waiting for it. So far I like the paddle but find the company very unresponsive. They emailed in March offering a $10 discount on current orders to encourage people not to cancel their orders and continue to deal with the ongoing delays. I accepted the offer but have not received the discount and no response from the company after 4 emails. Not impressed. Doesn't make you feel comfortable should you have any warranty issues.
Just found out you live near Morristown. I lived in Bean Station for four years on Cherokee Lake. I would love to come down and meet you for a game or two sometime. I live in Bardstown, Ky now . I'm 77 years old and am rated at 3.75.
Ordered Legacy 2 months ago and been patiently waiting for the stated ship date. When the ship date arrived no shipment. Contacted them with no response....I think they took the money and ran. I would stay away!
We haven’t taken anyone’s money an ran. We have been sending emails being very transparent through your the entire back order process. We receive about 1500 emails a day. It’s a full time job addressing emails much less emails, phone calls and orders. We appreciate the support and are growing exponentially as fast as possible given the over night success and growth we are experiencing. Please know we are players too and value customer service the most so I’m sorry you have felt this experience but we are here and working hard to get through this phase of our growth so we don’t experience out of stock delays again.
I'm in the same boat buddy. So disappointed at the lack of communication since Feb. 20th. I also emailed the company several times with no response!
@@Boxster586 we are working. Every email requires time. Every order requires time. 1500 emails a day. I get that some people are getting impatient. We understand and that’s why are sending a mass email tomorrow with a message for everyone.
@@legacypickleball I will be traveling at the end of the month and will not have a permanent shipping address for awhile. I would love to have my paddle shipped within the next week or please refund my order. Thank you.
What is the best power paddle in your opinion for playing singles? Power is important of course.
I bought the Legacy Pro by accident instead of the PROs. I am not a lover of elongated paddles. Overall is ok but it has some vibration I dont like much. I also felt that I have missed shots because it's a bit too narrow and I hit the net on some inside outs.
I got the heavier version and added lead tape on top as well...
So I am looking for some less elongated to test. What your opinion on the Selkirk and the SIX zero black diamond if you have come across them...Thanks in advance...
I like the Selkirk power air for singles but it's grit wears off quickly. They had 2 new paddles get approved so I might wait if I was thinking of getting a selkirk. As for the 6.0 paddles I haven't tried the Black diamond. It's the raw fiberglass paddle. I'd assume it's really good for singles based off it being a power paddle. I do like the double black diamond but idk if I'd use it for singles. The only other paddle I'd recommend for singles would be the black ace (there are 2 shapes). I saw a pro playing the other day with a new color variation and it looked sick. I just couldn't control mine for doubles so I hated it. The power for singles was amazing though.
@@FarmerLankyPickleball The Selkirk Power Air I dont like much. I tried it while playing with a friend and it is like hitting with a wooden paddle. The black ace I have not tried. Maybe I will demo it. I just dont like the design of it...... Yes, The double Black diamond is for a softer game not singles.
