Our visit Naples travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide to Neapolitan cuisine, top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting cathedrals, pizzerias, the old town, quirky neighborhoods and museums. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Naples tourism brochure, Naples itinerary or Naples, Italy city tour also known as Napoli Italia.
10 Things to do in Naples, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (NAPOLI)
Tell anyone you’re travelling to Naples and you’ll likely get a few raised eyebrows with some side comments about the mafia, or grid-lock traffic, or garbage on the streets. Somewhere along the way, Naples seems to have earned a bad reputation, but we thought it all sounded a bit too harsh. We wanted to experience the city for ourselves, plus we’d also heard there was good pizza!
We ended up having a grand ol’ time, so join on us as we show you what you can get up to with a couple of days in Naples, plus somewhere along the way, we’ll also reveal where we ate our favourite pizza.
Piazza del Plebiscito seemed like a good place to start our tour. This is a large public square in Central Naples, that earned its name from the 1860 vote that brought Naples into the unified Kingdom of Italy.
The plaza is surrounded by numerous attractions, including the Royal Palace of Naples on one side, and the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola.
We then visited the Royal Palace of Naples. This was one of the four residences in Naples used by the Bourbon Kings during their rule of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
The admission fee was 4 Euros and this gave us access to the Royal Apartments where we got to admire porcelains, tapestries, sculptures and painted ceilings found within the palace walls.
We visited was Castel Nuovo, an imposing medieval castle that dates back to 1282. This castle was built when Charles I of Naples took the throne and moved his capital from Palermo to Naples.
Admission to the castle was 6 Euros per person.
We stopped by Caffe Gambrinus, a historic coffeehouse in the heart Naples for a bite and drink.
We visited Galleria Umberto I, which is a gallery which vaulted iron and glass ceilings, where you can shop & people watch.
This gallery dates back to the late 1880s and meant to be reminiscent of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan.
While in Naples, we took it upon ourselves to find the best pizza in the city. This involved eating a total of 10 pizzas over two days.
In the end we decided Da Michele was our personal favourite.
Because we always enjoy visiting outdoor markets wherever we go, we stopped by the Fish Market.
Moving on to museums we visited Naples National Archaeological Museum. This museum holds the Farnese Marbles, which is an impressive collection of Roman copies of classical Greek sculptures and ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Another place we visited in Naples was the Quartieri Spagnoli, or Spanish Quarter. The streets in this quarter were laid down during the 16th century for the Spanish military barracks outside the city walls. The streets here are narrow and the buildings tall.
And that’s a wrap for our quick 2-day tour of Naples. We hope this video gave you a few ideas of things you can do in the city and all the pizza you can eat in between.
This is part of our Travel in Italy video series showcasing Italian food, Italian culture and Italian cuisine.

I spent 3 weeks in Italy and the people of Naples were the friendliest. Helping me find sun block, starting a random conversation on the bus. Great people, great city!
They are not as used to tourists as the rest of Italy is. Imagine being from Venice (the island part of the city)!!! You see 100 000 of tourist a week!!! Parisians get a bed reputation for their behavior, but I don’t blame them.
Obviously only because I came from Rome, doesn’t mean I am mean to tourists. It depends on you character (If you have a super character, your always going to seem friendly) and on how you interact with tourists.
If you work in the center of the city and need to move around a lot, tourists will be a pain in the ass, but If you work in a office (as most people do) or are a student (as I) toruists really aren’t a problem
Yes they are helpful and nice in naples awesome people

Wow Naples is gorgeous 👍👍. Oh those pizza, I should book a flight to Naples. Thanks again for sharing a great Vlog my friend !!
Thank you! Highly recommend that.
The Capodimonte museum is a great one, not of Louvre or Prado rank, but well worth a visit. The Archeological Museum is a good choice. Teatro San Carlo adjacent to the Royal Palace is a great place to take in an opera. I would love to return to Naples and spend more time around there: Pizza, volcanoes, fresh fish, fabulous ruins, and so much more. As the saying goes "See Naples and die."
Thank you for sharing that! Ah, that is a great saying.
멋진 영상 항상 고마워요~~ thank you for showing a wonderful place and delicious food like pizzas..

Thanks Kerensa! We sure loved Naples!
Great video guys! Love the way you mix fun things with educational comments.I was in Naples last February and I loved eating Sfogliatelle. Next time just rent a scooter and buzz through the alleys, then you really get a feel of how Naples people move. Good job!
Thank you! Renting a scooter sounds just awesome.
Fabulous video! I so appreciate how informative your videos are. I watch a lot of traveller vlogs and some of them don’t do any research. I really like that you always seem curious about what you are seeing and share it with your viewers. 💕

Thankyou Samuel and Audrey, very helpful!
l think that you two visited Naples at the right time of the year, winter mellows and tempers the chaos of Naples, hopefully you got out to Capri
Thank you! We wished we had more time in the region. So much to do and we ran out of time.
I love your travel guides. I watched the one you did for Lisbon when I went last year too. I’m currently in Naples and have done some of the things that you recommended. Still here for another week so lots more to see though 👍🏼
Thank you very much! That is great you have a whole week! You'll be able to do a lot more than we did over just a couple of days.

Great video. Naples is really great place. Loved it
I wish you had more days to visit the historical part of town with the narrow pedestrian street and some of our beautiful churches. Maybe this is a good reason to come back.
Very informative!Thanks guys
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Archaelogical museum is best i ever visited ... the deco of the ceilings is amazing enough ...
It is incredible.
I am trying to decide whether to spend two nights at Paestum or one there and another at Naples. You show the real city minus the negative attitudes, and I like that so much. Thanks!
Thank you very much! Hope you have a great visit.

There is this road, (Via dei Tribunali) with amazing food stalls and restaurants all the way along so I highly recommend it.
Thanks for the recommendation! What food do you like to grab from the stalls?
Well there's excellent pizza of course but there was this stall along that road which did amazing pasta, but somehow the spaghetti would be stuck together with fillings, so you could easily take it away if you know what I mean...but to be honest, you can't go wrong with food in Naples
Thanks for sheering this nice video was very helpful .We planning to visit Italy at the end of this year .thanks
Thank you! That is exciting to hear.
Thanks for your content.
Thanks for watching!

I used to live in Naples. It's a great place! So many beautiful places and so much history The people were so lovely, the food was amazing! If you have an opportunity to visit then go.

I go here about every 2 years or so. I’ve been to about thirty or so different countries. This is my favorite city to visit along with the surrounding area. I actually just booked a trip for October for two people for ten days for a bout 1500 dollars. So it’s not very expensive to go. It’s actually cheaper for me to go to Naples then it is Florida from ny. 16hr trip though lol. I’m really happy you two enjoyed Naples a lot of uptight people don’t and I hope it stays that way.
Thanks! That is really cool to hear. You have a great trip awaiting you in the fall. Yeah, it is a city that is kind of polarizing. I think one of the reasons we loved it, aside from the great pizza, is just that it feels bustling in a local way. Wandering around the streets you get a slice of normal life and don't feel that much like a tourist.
Dan Smith can you give me some pointers or the low down how to book so inexpensively? I'd like to take my son there some day. The flight alone when I looked it up from Chicago to Rome is about $1,500.. not including the stay etc.. where do you stay when in Naples?
Lisa 222 hi Lisa sure I can. First of all I fly directly to Naples. I’ve stayed in Naples and sorrento. I recommend staying in sorrento it’s less chaotic for someone who doesn’t know the city. It’s about an hr ride on a train from Naples or from the airport by bus it’s about 10 euro for the bus. Also try booking for late April may or octoberish. It is a lot more exspensive to go in the summer. And honestly I don’t get it it’s way too hot at that time.
Lisa 222 just looked up a trip from Chicago I found tickets as low as 750 a person to Naples and hotel stay for 9 days in sorrento
Dan Smith - I'm really sorry to bother you again! Can you tell me what site you were on? I went on google flights and expedia and still bringing up 1,500 per person. Thank you!! :D
Towards the end Samuel was talking about how to end a day in Naples and he had that Irish melodic tone going on to his speech hehe
Love all of you guys’ videos!
♥️
Thanks Gloria! We had so much fun in Naples.
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos OMG!!! I’m so happy to read a reply from you guys, I’m a huge fan of your videos, I made use of the references you guys made on your visit to Kathmandu, Nepal when I visited there, it was my first ever solo trip!
Italy is special to me because I was born there, but now live in Sri Lanka (Did you guys visit yet?)
Also have you guys visited Israel? I should check!
Omg okay, I’m just really excited hehe sorry guys!
Love your videos, keep up the good work! My favorite travel vloggers, You guys are awesome!!!

Thank you for visiting our beautiful city!, Please, come to Napoli! I live in a neighbor town and I study there and, honestly, it's a city worth visiting. There are many many places to see: the histarcal city centre shown in the video so unique and pictoresque (don't miss the Veiled Christ and the Caravaggio's Seven Acts of Mercy). But also explore the other areas of the city: the Posillipo Hill, the Vomero area with Castel Sant'Elmo and its stunning view of the city (the most beautiful one, in my opinion); visit the Capodimonte museum and park with another Caravaggii and many other paintings. Honestly, Napoli is a multicultural city; there is a variety in its different areas that you wonder if you even are in the same place. I've traveled a lot and I love love love Italy as a whole: it think every region is worth vising (I'm planning a trip in Trieste and I can't wait). But give a chance to Napoli. Yes it can be tricky, yes the transport are not the best thi g in the world, yes there are crimes. But this is the situation in many other big city. In 23 years of my life nothing happened to me; last month I was in Rome and someone tried to open my bad in the underground. Shit happens everywhere you go. Don't let this stop you from seeing many many beautiful things. ❤️
Thanks for all of the great tips and suggestions. We loved visiting Napoli.
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos I'm so glad you did! But everyone can see that from your beautiful video! Sorry for all the mistakes in the previous comment!!
Did you know that the stairs of the royal palace are the stairs where Cinderella lost her shoe.
Yes, because the first written account of Cinderella was from Gianbattista Basile in "Lu cunto de li cunti" (the tale of tales). Basile was a member of the court, so, when he wrote about Cinderella and the lost shoe on the stairway, he was probably thinking at those stairs.
had no idea about that!
First of all thats a myth, secondly, you have been dupped.
"we heard there's good pizza" 😂 Naples IS pizza.
Hahahaha...indeed
Naples also has a angry boi that sells drugs to kids in it
Great video guys, I enjoyed it! Unfortunately you missed probably one the best sculptures ever made in history, and really one the most beautiful things in Naples (if not the most): the "Cristo velato" (veiled Christ). It's so amazing you can't believe your eyes.
Thanks for sharing that. I hope other visitors will check it out and if we're back again we'll make a point of visiting it.
@@samuelandaudreyIl Cristo velato😱😱😱😱😱
Wow I can’t believe kids can ride scooters there! The pizza looks amazing!
Scooters with a maximum speed of not more than 45 km/h and with a cylinder capacity not exceeding 50 cubic centimetres (EU-license AM) can be driven in Italy from an age of 14 years.
Thanks! The pizza was next level. They looked pretty comfortable and good at it I must say ;)
Thanks for sharing that. That certainly explains things. They looked confident driving around.
Incredibile , ci amano più gli stranieri che gli “Italiani” stessi . Viva Napoli

Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos I’d take the offer in a heartbeat lol 😝 I was actually in Naples on a pilgrimage to the church ⛪️ of St Januarius back in 2000. It was just a quick visit to Naples from Rome where we were staying. It’s still a good trip though. Feels like hundred years ago now. 😆

@@samuelandaudrey ...yeah.
If you thought the royal palace in Naples felt like Versailles, wait till you go to the Caserta Palace... which of course back then was part of the Kingdom and an extension of Naples.
Wow! Hope to visit someday Vincenzo!
I'm from Naples, I'm very glad that you enjoyed it,
"Da Michele" where you have been is the best classic pizza,
but i suggest to try also "Pizzeria da Pellone" famous for the fried pizza
Or if you would like to choice between 55 different type of pizza i suggest "Pizzeria Gaetano Genovesi".
Also there is a lot more to visit, one thing i suggest to visit too is the awesome panorama view from the "13 scese": check it on google images typing "13 scese napoli"
Thank you very much for sharing those great suggestions!
Awesome video! How did you like Naples? We spent a month in Viareggio (Tuscany) doing a housesit for two dogs!

Naples is such a beautiful city in Italy. I can't decide what's the best place for nightlife in Italy.
Thanks! It sure is a vibrant city. From our experience I think Milan is a good bet.
I'd say that during the summer Naples is better than Milan, we have fantastic clubs on the seaside, you should visit them!
Just avoid sicily: mafia and garbage everywhere
Kitten Stomper I agree. Add refugees to that list tho
Thank you for this informative clip. Questions: How many days did you spend in Naples? Were you using a tripod to shoot the clips and if so, the places of interest do allow the use of tripods?

I like the highlights of the places you visited.
I am wondering if Naples has an evacuation plan in place to evacuate people in case Vesuvio erupts again (similar to 76ad). That's a lot of people move or evacuate in a short period of time.
Thank you! THat is a good question. I suppose there might be more warning signs now with modern science.
