    Usually see this with vodka. Never with Gin. In Key West at Pepe's they make these with fresh squeezed grapefruit. Great for breakfast.

      it will depend on the type of bar you go to -- if I went to a craft bar I'd probably either be asked "gin or vodka" or it would be gin. If I went to a sports bar they'd not even ask, it would be vodka. Appropriately it is made with gin, but "correctly" it should be made the way the drinker wants :-)

    Great drink! Ok since you have brought up a few times the grapefruit I want to add the details as personal family members have said situation. Basically grapefruit blocks certain body function that usually break down medication and thus allows significantly MORE of the medication to enter the body in a bad way resulting in severe side affects/overdose/toxic/poison. Simply put don't do it if your doctor says so, if unsure ask your doctor/pharmacy about interaction with grapefruit.

      yeah, overdose would be bad. Tom Petty just died of an overdose (unrelated, but current info I just learned)

      Also, ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES interaction with many medications, and if you have health conditions you probably shouldn’t be boozing in general

    Hi Derrick. You raves about the Dorchester in 2016. What was your favourite of 2017??

      hmm, I don't know. I'll have to check my recipe book. The Kracken Hatten was something we had a couple lights of fun with. We did re-discover the mai tai this year, been making a ton of those...but that doesn't feel as exciting and "wow, we discovered a new drink!"

      Common Man Cocktails Cheers Derrick. Made my first Dorchester last night. Loved it! Goes down very easy! I don’t remember the Kracken Hatten, I’ll look it up!

    Cruzan "Aged Rum" from St. Croix , what do you think?

    • @cmcocktails
      @cmcocktails  Před 6 lety +1

      I use Cruzan for most of my rum cocktails actually. It's cheap and good.

    @Comman Man Cocktails, This is my first try making The Salty Dog from following your video.
    1 1/2 oz Gin
    4 oz fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice.
    Reusable ice cubes
    Pink Himalayan Sea Salt - freshly ground -
    It took a bit to juice a full grapefruit that barely gave me four oz.
    Considering that I can only stand fresh grapefruit juice, this was really good. The salt was very interesting.
