I just did this job on both my back wheels for the first time doing work on my car using nothing but this video and it came out great. Saved me $1500 after parts from what the dealership quoted me. Thanks!
Did You bleed the brakes any more than what he showed on here?
I have never seen a better video than this. So well explained and everything gets shown and explained! I'm just a novice at working on my car but this video made it seem simple to do!
I was thinking the same exact thing!
One of the most important steps is not mentioned at all in the video, it is extremely important to monitor your brake fluid reservoir while bleeding brakes, especially with a new caliper. If your reservoir gets depleted you'll just pump a ton of air into your brake lines which is a major pain to remedy. I would hazard a guess that the reservoir needed to be topped off at least a couple of times to fill that new caliper with brake fluid. It's also easier, and cleaner, to check to see if you've gotten all the air out if you put a clear hose over the bleeder nipple while your bleeding.
i think i seen ChrisFix do the clear hose thing.
Great Camara Angles! Well explained! Great Mechanic Skills! Thank you so much!
Truly amazing tutorial and amazing filming đđŸ
Nice video.Thank you for explaining carefully.
Thanks for the very well explained video, I'm now confident to do it myself, Cheers
be warned , as a mechanic our code is not to come your house ,u would have to pay for a tow bud .
thanks for this, I am buying a new caliper for my ford focus, and I was a a little nerveious about putting back my hand brake cable but looking at this it looks like its a strait forward job,
One of the best teachers in auto repair I have ever seen. Great Job and Thanks.
Thanks I learned a lot! This gives me confidence to do mine myself thank u so much
+Marcus Darnell Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
thank you bro, well done and easy to understand.
Awesome videos I really appreciate these thanks for uploading. I however have an issue this doesnt address, on my brake caliper for the e-brake cable, there is no groove, the cable passes through the body of the caliper totally, and the cable terminates in a nub that attaches to the sprung arm on the body. So, from the nub down, the cable then sits inside what looks like an aluminium sheath which in turn sits in what looks like a steel (corroded) place holder that sits in a hole in the body of the caliper with no groove to pop to the side. I'm abit stuck as on how to proceed. Thanks!!
I have a 2009 vibe. I slid the closed side of a 14 mm wrench around the multi point clip that holds the e brake on. I pinched it on with pliers . Squeezed with one side of pliers on the wrench and the other side against the mount . Came right off
Excellent explanation. the best on you tube;; thank you;;
This is excellent! Thank you very much for taking the time.
Thank you for this video. Good explanations and perfect length. Similar to the step at 5:40 when the parking brake cable is released through a notch, my 2010 Matrix doesn't have that notch. I can't find a video on how to compress 6 one-way catches which allow the cable to be installed easily by pushing it through a hole, but not so easy to remove. UPDATE...I released the parking brake cable tab using the closed end of a 14mm wrench...wiggling it back and forth over the tabs while pulling and eventually it cleared the hole in the fastening point.

Dude..sooo so .thankful for this. Appreciate your efforts more than words
Thanks... Very helpful.
Great video. You make it look so easy. Iâve been struggling for an hour trying to get the e-brake cable off. Any tips. Mine doesnât budge at all even when pressing in all the clips.
Just pull harder and look for places you can get it out of the guides and keepers that route it along the frame. It'll eventually come out. That special tool really helps. It was 10 bucks well spent.
Very informative and well done, we also have install videos Thank you for the content
+Crux Interfacing Solutions Thanks for checking us out!
If you don't have the tool to remove the e-brake, there is a hack that will work. Take an OLD 13mm wrench, and cut a notch out of the closed end approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch wide with cut-off blade on an angle grinder . This will allow the wrench to slip over the cable, and to compress the tabs. Figured this out after fighting with the first caliper for 1/2 an hour.
Awesome, Ill be trying this tomorrow.
Excellent video. Thank you
Best video explaining very well
By far the best teaching video on these issues I've seen. Excellent work, Sir!!!!
đGreat job thank you for sharing.
Do you pump with the reservoir open? Also do you pump each side one at a time or all at once once you finish replacing everything?
10 outa 10 good video very well done matey.
Thanks for the video! My Mustang just failed a safety inspection because of a rear caliper like this. Now where might I get replacement parts....? đ€đđïž
this guy is a great speaker and explains things simple and straight to the point. Very refreshing imo. Thank you... as i am changing my wife's car's rear caliper sometime this week. This gives me confidence and inspires me to do my best. Thank you for this vid!!! :)

Excellent Job Bearded Brother! I'll be sure to watch out for the flippy-do. Remember the flippy-do needs to go away from the caliper. :) No buggery mess for me. Thank You Sir!!!

Iâm curious if there are integrated e brake calipers for a 2010 4Runner.
Just what I needed! Thanks
I did not know about twisting integrated e-brake caliper pistons..I thought my caliper was frozen so thanks, liked, subscribed..
+Oilsmoke Jones Thanks for checking us out!
Thank you. I did my caliper and I was loose and the line was dripping. I forgot the inside washer and I did not know the trick to keep the rotor locked! No leak! On snug.
Great job good camera
Question i have a sonic rs and the rear caliper on driver side when applied the e-beake get stock , but if i dont use the emergencia brake the caliper works ok with pedal brake so do i have to replaced the whole caliper?
Easy peasy. ;) Great video...
Do you think you would be able to do a video on how to switch out your drum brakes to disc brakes on a 07 Chevy Silverado love your videos thank you

I did not know how to depress the piston in on rear brakes until i warched your video. One video i watched said to turn the disk with pliers but not to depress it at the same time! I must have damaged the boot because now there is a tear in it! I am just going to replace both calipers now since one is damaged and i am having no luck depressing them on this 2014 VW jetta sportwagen! Is it possible to just replace the boot?
No parking brake adjustment? I replaced my rear calipers (they looked exactly like the ones shown here) and there is slight play in the handbrake until the first click and the handbrake doesnât fully lock the brakes hard anymore.
I took off the brackets on the caliper that holds the spring and brake line to change the rubber and restored them so the spring is tight again. Iâm not sure if itâs off slightly the spring is probably tighter than before or if itâs something else.
Great video
That tool he used on the cable is lisle 40750 by the way.....the one thing that's not linked.
Thanks for this.
Great video!!
those bracket clips for the pads always pop back out when you try to push them in
Hi, I have a question, I was installing a remanufactured rear caliper on my car, and after hooking the brake line and the caliper bracket, I realized that the piston needed to be compressed a bit more to clear the new pads, while using the correct piston tool, it would not budge , not clockwise, nor counter clockwise, I will be returning the caliper to the shop, but I wonder , am I missing something? Could the piston be seized ??
Can u plz advise which grease is best for caliper sliding pins ?
When I bought brake pads for my 2019 crysler Pacifica , they sent small packet of grease. I guess that is only to be used for brakes but not calipers .
Do you carry the special tool to remove the emergency brake cable ? The video is very informative and right to the point . Thank you
It's called the "Parking Brake Cable Remover." He didn't post it. Here's the link: amzn.to/3SZw2Lw
You are great, thanks
The best instructor. Great job buddy. thanks!
What's that tool called that you use to disconnect the e-brake?
My rear piston wonât go back in while Iâm replacing brake pads on jetta. 1. Do I need to have the e brake spring disconnected? 2. Should the reservoir under the hood or bleeder screw be opened to help the piston go back? Tried to just wind it back but it continues to spin without going anywhere. Any help would be appreciated
Thank you so much .I could not figure out the. Emergency brake and could not get the piston receded .
Nice video.
Where is the link to the tool you used to remove the e brake cable?
Does anyone know the bolt torque specs for this job?
Hello ! Where I can find the torque specifications for honda accord 2008 LX Thank you
Probably just Google it, that's how I find mine for my civic
Nice video. some mechanic say we must not use grease on sliders. they recommend silicone paste. I tried to check with our local auto shops but could not get Silicone paste. Is it the same with Silicone Sealant?
no
You are awesome details teacher

what is the tool to take out the ebrake cable ?
can you do a video on a vehicle (2017 Mitsubishi outlander GT) with an electronic parking brake system? how to retract the piston since you cant rotate the piston or push it for it to retract? and how to replace that particular caliper? it does not have the same system as the one you show on the video, everything is electronic instead.
don't you have to adjust the emergency part of the brake or does it adjust itself? and how do you do that?
Wondering the same, and also I thought that a parking brake and an emergency brake are two different types or braking systems that are often confused and mistakenly relied upon? Now Iâve gotta call my uncle mechanic back and ask him to explain that one lmao
i didnt see the tool listed for the caliper piston or the tool use to remove the ebrake, can u provide those to me as i have this job coming soon,,, thank you and awesome video :)

How is your ebrake cable so easy to install or remove? The tensioner has tightened my cable so much I have no play in it. I need to release the tensioner to reset the cable length.
Same to me

Which direction do you twist as you push in that piston? Also, do you have to un twist it when you get the new pads on? Thanks, (2015 beetle)
I've never seen one that doesn't go clockwise, or tightens as you are looking at it. My advice is to spend $30 on a tool set that will come with all the adapters for different makes. The pliers methods never works for me.
And no you don't have to do anything once the new pads are in. The act of pushing the brake pedal moves the piston to contact the new pads. If that concept isn't clear you should watch some videos on basic brake system operation.
I have a toyota corolla 2014. It's rear brake is working properly but it handbreak is not working. Please help me. Change piston or caliper
You and your beard are fantastic, thank you
What can you do if that plastic piece for the e- brake is broke, the one you have to depress before you pull the cable out
+tabasco351 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
I have a 2016 chevy trax and my e-brake cable does not disconnect like your video shows. I had to remove a clip and then gave up because I didn't know what to do next. I don't have a slot where the cable slides through the side. Mine is a solid round hole. Also the end of my cable is round and has a small boot going around the cable. Any ideas how to remove it?

I have ONE QUESTION!!! If you just change one caliper due to its a bad caliper "can you just bleed that side" that you change and be done Or do you have to bleed all 4 wheels or the other back wheel?
just the one
Thank you for being so thorough. Very helpful.
Does this apply to rear brake calipers on a jaguar xj6
+Mike Davis It may be a different procedure on your application. We currently do not have an auto repair video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking. 1aauto.com
Quick question! Do all cars have these sheet metal pieces where the brakepads slide on? Im not sure but mine did not have it. Is this normal on some cars? Thanks in advance for the feedback!~

It's part of the brake line.
