Horus Lupercal nooooo...stop praising I-Empire, it is not the best AVA album 😉...no offense, it's all just opinions, but I truly believe it doesn't do more than underlining how epic WDNTW is 😉
@@J_Jim-mo3ub No bro, there is no pitch correction here, you can notice some tom's mistakes in some parts, but here the last vestiges of tom's nasal voice are evident.
Tatiana Gibson Don't like all the effects he uses on his mic and how every performance recorded from this period are post-performance edited. I think they sounded much better over the I-Empire tour and later on :)
Tatiana Gibson Feel like Tom tried super hard to make his voice sound different around this time. To the point where it'd make me cringe ha, Idk, i've been listening to him since '93 so I guess it's just weird to me
@Cheezypoofs s he wanted to sound like bono & Robert Smith dueting without having a fraction of the technical ability lol while i respect the ambition all the way, it made up for a pretty shit genesis for the group which led to their prime barely blossoming this last tour
I adore the newer AVA stuff but what a magically time '2006 We Don't Need To Whisper AVA' was. Love going to the performances from these early tours. Was so fucking big and epic and just out of this world!
i avoided Angels and Airwaves for years just for the fact that I thought that if Tom wasn't doing Blink, he wasn't worth listening to. I recently thought I'd give them a chance (thanks to the new Blink album for sparking my interest) and how wrong I was. This is quite possibly the best song I have ever heard. Kinda makes me wish Tom would give up on Blink and do Angels and Airwaves full-time.
Tom has such a good understanding of super simple, super catchy riffs and he’s one of the best at it...that open string he keeps hitting during the intro while otherwise not on the album version is genius and sounds so good.
He’s so good at playing riffs while continuously playing open notes between notes. I don’t know how to explain it, but it gives the riffs that extra bit of, I dunno, effect? So good!
@@kevink6420 Yeah for sure. It took me a long time to figure out how to do it. I used to play Tom riffs without the open string on songs like: It Hurts, Heaven, Always.
Jameson Bornholdt I think he means more songs like ‘The War’; a song with an upbeat intro with delay FX then smacks you in the face with wailing power chords
I'm a huge fan of Tom. I might even go as far as to say he's my favourite musician of all time, for a number of reasons. What always stood out for me was his ability as a guitarist and his general creativity and style. But in this case its certainly his vocals too 😍 never heard him sound so good vocally
klein kaufman They didn’t prove it wrong with Matt Skiba they went and made the over produced California album which sucked and not to mention they needed to bring other writers in just to finish the album when they could write it by themselves when Tom was around, Neighborhoods was expanding upon the more mature and experimental parts of blink and they were taking the time to be more creative with their sound after being a part of AVA and +44 separately and both Neighborhoods and Dogs Eating Dogs had aged like fine wine where with California and Nine they made the mistake of having John Feldman as their producer and like I said before had other musicians come in to finish their songs creating some of the most formulaic, bland, generic, radio ready rock song that I hadn’t heard in a long time, Tom was the true creative force behind blink and had been passionate about blink and other things he’s been doing being related to music or not and was helping blink straying away from they young and immature days and growing up with their audiences most of which now have families of their own, But Mark wanted to bring back that young immature vibe from their older records which just doesn’t suit them anymore now that their all in their 40’s, it all just sounds weird and I don’t really know how to feel about it. Basically in the short term, Blink is better with Tom
Honestly the i-empire to love part 2 lineup is the best imo Matt Watcher fit the band perfectly. I do love Ilan rubin though hes about as good of a replacement for atom
when i saw them live, 99% of the concert, when i was hot, and sweaty as hell, every song, ESPECIALLY the war, gave me chills. When they played this song, it was one of the greatest moments of my life, I never wanted it to end. My very first, and very favorite concert, AVA.
Man I love this live version. Even though he doesn't carry the notes the same as the album version (when singing "believe" for example) ... and his voice cracks a little (which I think he is doing on purpose), I still think it almost sounds better than the album version in a way.
@grantus8907 thats pretty cool that you gave it a chance. I felt worse when blink broke up than any girlfriend i have ever been dumped by lol. A&A is by far my favorite though. Each album they come out with makes it harder to decide which is my favorite song or album. i could listen to or play this song or the gift on guitar for hours at a time though ;)
saw ava last night in adelaide at soundwave, was the most inspirational and perfect night of my life. tom was utterly chilling and every song had more emotion than you could imagine.. much love angels and airwaves, come back to aus soon
When CZcams was pretty new, I used to watch the music video for this song all the time and it made me feel strange. I let gave me goosebumps because of the sound alone but the lyrics made me hate all war and violence. Thank you Angels&Airwaves, Blink, Box Car, +44; You made my childhood colorful and I was able to feel and relate to this music on a cellular level ❤
I was fortunate enough to see the first tour of Angels and Airwaves in Portsmouth, VA in 2006 when they opened for Taking Back Sunday... why they were the openers I have no idea. Angels and Airwaves were one of the best concerts I have ever seen. They put on a show! Got to see them again in Norfolk at the Norva years later and they crushed it again. I hope Angels tour again... it's a must see!
This is also a fucking awesome performance ... I really stumbled upon some Prime Tom here :) 🤣 - can’t believe this is from 12 years ago feels like yesterday ! ❤️
2024 and still here. You're such an inspiration, Tom.
Same. I wish I could experience this time period from 1999-2008 Tom DeLonge
Proud millenial who was a teenager when this came out, and still here 🥰
2024 checking in
Long Live Atom willard....
i truly believe that this is the highlight of toms career in music
Nope: his Guitar Center shows top this by a lot.
iEmpire album for me.
Horus Lupercal nooooo...stop praising I-Empire, it is not the best AVA album 😉...no offense, it's all just opinions, but I truly believe it doesn't do more than underlining how epic WDNTW is 😉
iempire is the fucking best album Toms ever created yo.
Well you are wrong my friend
Everyone is saying that Tom is great etc (Fuck yea, I agree with that) but no one mentions how solid David Kennedy is. He is great background for Tom.
And he pulls off some pretty cool guitar moves. Hardly ever standing still. Love Dave!
my god. tom's voice is incredible here. best live performance ever!
I love Tom but dont go far pleases
Pitch correction
@@J_Jim-mo3ub No bro, there is no pitch correction here, you can notice some tom's mistakes in some parts, but here the last vestiges of tom's nasal voice are evident.
@@LuisGonzalez-ew6bx of course there is. Look for a 2006 san diego live and you ll hear him singing without it, he hardly hits any notes.
@@LuisGonzalez-ew6bx Bro are you for real?? Tom is completely shitfaced here. Without pitch correction he would miss pretty much every note.
2019 and this STILL smacks.
yep hard as farkkk
Big time
2020 it still slaps
almost 2022 and this will ALWAYS slap!
2023 and still goes hard as fuck
just a month after the release of WDNTW, i think it's safe to say this is the best show they've ever put on
They produced the hell out of this live version. AVA in 2006 generally did not sound good.
Tatiana Gibson Don't like all the effects he uses on his mic and how every performance recorded from this period are post-performance edited. I think they sounded much better over the I-Empire tour and later on :)

to many blink XD get out here

Can you imagine if this was the finale of the Boxcar album? Best song Tom’s wrote, truly epic!!
I adore the newer AVA stuff but what a magically time '2006 We Don't Need To Whisper AVA' was. Love going to the performances from these early tours. Was so fucking big and epic and just out of this world!
This was a really good show. San Diego '06, man.
Wow
That chorus at 2:37 is godly
Fr tho

Uhhhummmm wish granted? Hope you realize the Blink fanbase hates you now 🤣
I hope you realize that your wish came true. 😢
it's so funny to read this comment today xD
well you got your wish haha. also this is probably my favorite song by AVA. so epic sounding.
Exactly with me. I hated it because it wasn't blink. Much later I realised that this band is phenomenal.
this performance give me the chills
if you thought this was good watch the live version of this song at guitar center. way better they killed it.
His guitar tone is impeccable.
This whole recording is a masterpiece!!!!

@@kevink6420 Yeah for sure. It took me a long time to figure out how to do it. I used to play Tom riffs without the open string on songs like: It Hurts, Heaven, Always.
So glad they are touring this year with their new album that is set to release😮
This comment is funny in hindsight
I miss this energy
This is one of the best preformances I've ever seen.
Me: It's been 11 years and I still get goose bumps listening to this live.
My friends: After all this time?
Me: Always.
toime
come on let me hold you touch you feel you always
Always come back to this one ❤
Might get given crap but i miss this AvA alot they need to make more of this kind of music
what are you talking about? this IS how AVA sounds
Jameson Bornholdt I think he means more songs like ‘The War’; a song with an upbeat intro with delay FX then smacks you in the face with wailing power chords
Wish I was at this concert
Oh man.. if they'd still tour... those were the days!
Max Kull-Sandin I am from the future from the year 2019. Your wish has been granted
Lets go!!!!!
Max Kull-Sandin They do, have been, and will..... be an honest fan for once
This is the best song I’ve ever heard
Still have yet to see them live :(
They're on tour
I have and it's amazing and euphoric
best live audio quality ive seen of ava!
that was the best performance of a song i have ever seen.
Tom Delonge yelling "SLAAWWW" At the beginning of this makes me happy... :)
This is the best live AvA performance I've ever seen, bar NONE. I wish all their live performances were even 1/2 as amazing as this one.
best of all time.
One of the most influential bands of all time for me. They have completely changed the way I view the world and everything in it

tom was definitely the heart and soul of blink and here too i see. love his guy
Thats incredibly disrespecting to the other 2 members
@@kleinkaufman8940 its true though
@@aidan5868 I would agree if Mark and Travis along with Matt Skiba werent proving that statement wrong since 2015.

Why is it so difficult to find the short film version of this song? The video was awesome.
Most underrated album of its time

Honestly the i-empire to love part 2 lineup is the best imo Matt Watcher fit the band perfectly. I do love Ilan rubin though hes about as good of a replacement for atom
2021 now, still feel the vibe of this song!
Great song Tom! :D

Tom actually sings good! And then on the last chorus when he hits that high note "tear my HEAD" omg Tom!
this song gives me goose bumps it so damn good!!
Agree ! BEST PERFORMANCE FOR AVA
I love this band
Would do anything to go back in time and see this live, incredible.
Still phenomenal.
This song means so much to me! And the only way to close out a concert!
The best performance of this song ever.. legit every time gives me goosebumps watching this.. incredible
I love this song. Angels And Airwaves... great band, great name.
Noones voice is perfect, he is just different. I think it suits anyway, plus he is a great musician and a great lyric writer.
greatest song ever thank you AvA
I know man am with you this world is messed up when a great band like this are not being recognized for their brilliant songs
I love this...Tom is one of the best singers in the world imo
I enjoyed tom's singing on this one. He did it really good

The most hardcore Angels and Airwaves song!
one of my favorite performances ever.
Tom's best live performance yet, in my opinion ^.^
hes voice is sick specially at 1.07-09

I think it's awesome how the first chorus is just instruments @ 1:29. Soo sick.
Ryan Sinn. That guy was pretty sweet.

Jão Pelinha when you see the vevo you can almost always know the vocals are tampered with
Tom's voice is just ecstatic.
what are you talking about hes incredible liveeee especially here!!!
This is how he sounds live, just saw him last night. I would say its from the constant singing on back to back nights for months.
WHY WON'T YOU TELL ME ,
