Iâm 79 and Iâve been to about 12 elvis concerts. 4 in the 50s 2 in the 60s and about 6 in the 70s. Iâll tell you Iâve never seen or heard anyone better than elvis and Iâve seen a lot.

@@lookupyourredemptiondrawsn7285 Yep. Once you get into Elvis, it's so easy to become obsessed with him.... his music, his voice, all of him.
Yeah, Iâm smiling, too, because it is fun for kids to finally see why Elvis was so good

Me too - it's so cool to see their reactions! I grew up listening to him on my Mum's record player. I was 10 when he died and I remember exactly where I was when we heard the news. What a beautiful man!
I am 81 and grew up in the 50's. When Elvis came along all the guys were jealous because all the girls were smitten. I went to the last concert he did in Las Vegas and I enjoy many of his songs. Elvis really was an extremely good showman.
Elvis broke the barriers with his moves and his performance.
You'd like Tom Jones, Treat her right.
@@brianlampinen I know Tom Jones well
He did other songs before Suspicious Minds! He puts his all for us fans. People who really sing and dance do tend to sweat. He NEVER EVER Lips sync! Thank you for enjoying him.
Who was the better dancer,Elvis or Michael?
One of Elvis' backup female singers was Cissy Houston, Whitney's Mom.
woohoo!!!
Yes, but only for five weeks in 1969. Unfortunately there are no videoclip or pictures where we can see her.
She left the Sweet Inspirations to launch her solo career and raise her family in 1970
I don't know if she was there that night but one other back up singer was Darleen Love
@@pernskyw1289
Darlene Love was a member of the background group The Blossoms. The Blossoms were his background singers at the '68 Comeback Special. But in Vegas and on tour the Sweet Inspirations were his background singers, from 1969 till his last concert in June 1977. Cissy Houston was only five weeks with Elvis and the Sweets.
So neither Cissy Houston nor Darlene Love were there that night.
When my beautiful wife was 19 years old, she and her boyfriend at the time, were in line trying to get tickets to see Elvis perform that night at a venue in Lake Tahoe. While they were in line, A large man in a suit approached them and asked my wife if she had a nice dress she could wear, if he got her tickets to the show. She said she did have a peach colored sleeveless gown. So the man explained to them that he is Elvis's assistant and Elvis likes to have pretty women sitting near the stage, so he would get her in. He said to just meet right in front 15 minutes before the show and he would escort them in. So sure enough, later that evening, true to his word, the large man escorted them to a table near the stage. She was very nervous as she had a fake ID, and was sort of shy. Towards the end of the performance Elvis started to sing "Can't Help Falling In Love". he walked over to their table, took my wife by the hand and pulled her on stage and sang the song to her! He then gave her a signed scarf he was wearing. We have that framed in our home... a very special memory for my wife.
That's a great story, a great memory for you and your wife. Thanks for sharing.
Great story
Wow!
What a legend. Your wife is very lucky, twice over. What a story. Thank you for sharing it with us. â€â€
Must have been a scary moment for you too. Did you wonder whether or not you were going to get her back?
I loved watching younger people watch Elvis for the first time. Itâs great.
Attended in 1976. Finest show I have ever seen. 2.5 hours fantastic musician and showmanship.Elvis left the auditorium yet there was a 45 minute standing o.
I saw Elvis in Tahoe in 1971. My parents took my sister and I to see him for my sister's 10th birthday. Elvis pulled my sister up on stage, sang happy birthday to her and gave her a kiss. He also gave her a 4-album set. A moment she'll never forget.
That's so cool
WOW!! That is an INCREDIBLE story and memory very few humans on earth got to experience!!!
Rick Upshaw AMAZING!!!
Interesting story - My grandparents and father were driving through town and there was the sign "Elvis Live In Concert"....my Dad tells my grandfather.."Hey let's go"..my Grandfather responded "Oh, you'll have plenty of chances to see him". doh!
Rick Upshaw wow!!

His vocal range and his versality is unbelievable.
And he is the only artist, who is represented in 4 Hall of Fames:

Country
Rythym and Blues

He recorded about 800 songs in his short life.
One song is called" Welcome to my World".
I say..........welcome to the world of Elvis.

Wouldn't you want to use an actual original Elvis tune to say welcome to the world of Elvis instead of a cover that was first recorded by an equally wonderful artist in Jim Reeves?

Elvis Presley was my first concert. June, 1975. Every guy wanted to be like him, and every woman wanted to be with him. A true legend.

NOW you know why he was all sweaty. Elvis was very active on stage, incorporating some of his karate (Black Belt) moves into his act along with his dance moves. And as you saw he also had great sense of humor. He was a very deeply religious, generous and humble man and amazingly enough pretty much just a regular guy! That gained him a lot of appeal.
I was lucky enough to see Elvis live in Memphis 1975. Best voice, performer to ever live.
When I was six years old I met Elvis and His manger colonel Tom Parker at col. Tom's office in Nashville. It was just by accident, but even at that age I was a big Elvis fan, and I recognized him and yelled at him and he motioned for my dad to pull in and he came to the car and hugged me, I told him I loved him and he said I love you too little man. one of those back up singers was Sissy Houston, Whitney Houston's mother
Exactly..!!
And at one point when Elvis was scheduled to play a concert in the new Houston Astrodome there were certain one's in the promotion that didn't want Elvis to have "the Sweet Inspirations" ( his 3 backup singers that happened to be colored Ladies) to be on stage with Him as this was such a hugh venue,, actually the biggest He had ever played live,, and race tensions were still present from the '60's' civil rights movement,,..
But Elvis told them that "His Girl's" ,, as He called Them,, would be there on stage with Him or He would not perform/play...!!
And that was the end of that,,..
'The Sweet Inspirations' were there and nothing else was ever mentioned about "His Girl's" in a negative manner around Him..!!
Everybody has flaws,, but for whatever Elvis's was,, it's pretty clear that racism wasn't one of His,,..He genuinely loved those Ladies and they said so themselves~â!!
@@claryprince2499 the "Sweets" as they were sometimes called performed with Elvis until the last concert he performed!

@@claryprince2499 actually the Comeback Special was filmed in June of 1968 and aired in December of 1968. He hired the Sweet Inspirations when he decided to perform live again. My grandfather served in the Army with Elvis and they became friends. We have a lot of pictures with him and Elvis together, and one letter that Elvis wrote to grandad after my great grandmother died.
Wow, how cool is that? Seems that Elvis gave his love to everyone.
Would you believe my father showed up on the same base right after he left. Heard nothing but great things about him, the guys who served with him seemed to really love him.
@@dallasbagley Yep. Grandad said Elvis was just a typical fun loving kid, really goofy, friendly, happy, and never talked bad about anyone. What stuck out in his mind about Elvis was his generosity, even at that young age he had a huge heart for poor people, he really felt compassion for people on a deep level.
@@rennnyyy Yeah, he was a likeable person, very genuine, from what I've heard. I love this young women's reaction. As a boy (in 1956-57) I remember going to a friend's house one afternoon to watch The Mickey Mouse Club. People were just then starting to get TVs. My friend had an older sister, age 16-17, and I was amazed to see that she had covered her ENTIRE bedroom (walls, ceiling ! ) with Elvis posters. The mid-late 1950s were when Elvis first "burst upon the scene." I was still a kind of innocent 10 year old white boy. I liked his music, and knew he was "important somehow" but did not come to understand just who he really was until the early 1970s. I did not hear him in person, but I loved his music and saw him on TV. Guys respected him. Women adored him. His song "Caught in a Trap" is all about his love for women. He was pure magic. There was no one else like him.
Sissy Houston said " when she worked with Elvis that he was so handsome you didn't want to look anywhere else"!! And Elvis was a black belt on karate!!
shockadellick I seriously doubt Elvisâs black belt would be very effective in the condition he was in. And BTW- Karate was quite effective in the 1970s
@@iamthatiam4496
Sorry, I disagree. Karate isn't as effective as it was in MMA competition but in CQB or H2H combat it still is-- especially when the instructors don't care about "rules" but in survival and it's a fight to the death. And by all accounts, until the last 2 years of his life, Elvis could still handle himself that is if he wanted to kill with his bare hands then he could.
Elvis Presley was an 8th degree black belt in karate. He took an interest in karate in 1958 after he was drafted into the Army and stationed in Germany. His first instructor was a German shotokan stylist named Juergen Seydel who taught Elvis at his off-base housing in Nauheim. During his leaves to Paris he would take private lessons with Tetsugio Murakami, one of Japan's top shotokan stylists, who would help pioneer shotokan in Europe. After Presleyâs discharge from the army, he would continue his studies and training in karate.
Elvis qualified for a 1st degree black belt in 1960 in Memphis with the great Hank Slomanski, a Chito-ryu stylist. The Sergeant Major was one of the first legitimate North American martial arts masters. By the late 1950s, Slomanski was the sensei at Fort Campbell and trained 101st Airborne recruits martial arts. As recorded by STARS AND STRIPES, in the 1950s Slomanski was introduced to Chito-ryu, a Japanese style founded by Dr. Tsuyoshi Chitose. Basically, Chito-ryu is a combination of Goju-ryu and Shorin-ryu karate. He stunned the Japanese karate masters by beating 119 opponents to win a tournament in Japan becoming one of the few non-Japanese to do so.
Elvis trained at Fort Campbell with members of the 101st Airborne. For his first fight, he squared off against 4th degree black Sgt Saur. Elvis lost after absorbing a flurry of full contact strikes to his body. He was on his hands and knees but as Slomanski put it:
"I saw Elvis slowly get up with that sneer on his face ... then I saw in his eyes what we usually see only in war: Elvis wanted to kill! As the two men once again clashed I stepped in to break Elvis and Sgt Saur apart but I found out what I wanted to know. The kid was a fighter - not a quitter. Also Sgt Saur would comment that they would occasionally have a beer after training, but he and Elvis never became friends. As a rule Elvis rarely drank, but he made an exception to sit down and have a beer with the boys.â
There was no favoritism involved. Elvis was awarded his coveted black belt after six weeks of persistent suffering inflicted by Hank Slomanski and the 101 Airborne recruits and future Rangers and Green Berets. In the end, Elvis became only one of a handful of civilians to whom Slomanski, a karate champion and later the future International Commissioner of Karate in the United States, awarded a "Black Belt".
Slomanski rose through the ranks to end his military career as a Command Sergeant Major, having served in airborne infantry, ranger (commando), and special forces units. His gravestone at Arlington National Cemetery indicates Slomanski served in combat in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was awarded three Purple Hearts, one Silver Star, and a Bronze Star for his exceptional leadership as well as injuries sustained while serving in the War. Hank Slomanski was chosen as one of the elite representatives of the original Special Forces established by President John F. Kennedy. He retired from the Army sometime in the mid 1960s.

The last oldies station here closed shop about 3 years ago. If radio dies folks are left to their own devices and whatever is the latest coming out on whatever social media. Huge range of quality, genres and international --- very hard for the cream to rise to the top.
I don't want to start a fire in the comments, but I've noticed that when people talk about Elvis these days all they mention is "He stole from black culture" or whatever. And because of social media and its power today, that becomes the story. And that's all the younger generation cares about. It doesn't matter that he still had an incredible voice and incredible charisma and incredible range as a performer. He's shrugged off because of that. And it's a shame.

In December 1999,he was named Entertainer of the Century" by TV Guide Magazine for a reason. I saw Elvis in person when I was 11 years old in Chicago - 2 years after this show. Great performance! Check out the 2022 movie "Elvis" if you haven't already. Elvis's wife, daughter, and others who knew him agree Austin Butler's portrayal is the closest anyone's come to the man himself. Imagine if the concert you just saw were reproduced in hologram on theater stage in your town - with background audience noise and all. It'd be like being there in Las Vegas in 1970.
Once you saw Elvis in person you were never the same. It was pure magic, an experience that is so hard to explain to someone that never experienced it. Most of all, you could feel the love, the place was filled with it.
"Not reproducible" is the perfect way to describe it. It will never be replicated.

Sorry it can, just youtube"Bob and Matt Joyce sing live"is Bob Elvis today ? different song though.
@@ashleyschooneman2998 stop perpetuating that Falsehood! That man is NOT Elvis
I just witnessed you become an Elvis fan!!! I am loving it!!! There just isn't anybody who can top this man!!!
My father is 88 and killing it in Florida in retirement. He grew up with Elvis at Sun Records. My mom and Precillia are the same age and Lisa Marie and my oldest brother P.J. are also the same age. The suits were very heavy and made of polyester at that time.â€â€â€
Elvis led a very troubled personal life with failing health in his early 40s. He died at only 42yrs old. The only time he was truly happy was on stage singing to people whom he adored. He was very generous and charitable and never forgot his humble roots. His talent and voice are unmatched.
I read somewhere that Elvis' father was afraid he'd go broke from the amount of money he'd just give away to both the members of his inner circle and total strangers...
Elvis was the whole package and girls went crazy over him. His gyrating hips and dance moves caused outrage with the older people but the young went crazy. I'm so glad you are reacting to Elvis he was the King of Rock n Roll in his prime and a movie star too.
I remember this performance well was in Las Vegas staying at the new International hotel on vacation from L.A. and I remember looking over at my mom who was just mesmerized by this performance and my father couldnât stop clapping I was enjoying watching them watching Elvis and I got caught up in the performance too he kept sweating and singing, everyone s eyes were on him whenever or wherever he was on stage, we were sitting on the right side mid section to the stage but I could see every movement, it was unbelievable, glad it was filmed and every time I see it I think of my parents and brings Elvis and my parents alive again to me
Elvis had some serious showmanship. You must check out his song "In the ghetto". The most powerful 3 minutes ever!!
Before anyone did anything, Elvis did everything!
His voice is so beautiful...the tone...the accent..the power....he was perfect.......and he was beautiful man too......
Indeed he was beautiful...and his voice better
i was fortunate to see elvis 4 times in concert. believe it or not, his live performances were even better than what you see on tv or on video. his voice was crystal clear and he was just fabulous! he was dynomite. it's so hard to believe he's gone, because he will always be in my heart.
Itâs also worth mentioning the flawless talent behind the backing vocals and instrumentals; some of whom - along with multiple, prestigious music awards -were later inaugurated into the Rock n Roll Hall of fame.
Elvis had the swag And the ladies loved him
Absolutely love Elvis, tears come to my eyes everytime I hear him. I'll never forget the day he died
For the fame he had I am surprised he lasted as long as he did. People use your fame to get what they want so probably gave him stuff in drinks or telling him it was something else to keep him going.
I'm from Canada, but a few years ago, we went to Graceland... Elvis' Home .... Cemented my connection with the guy.
I was only 7 when I was in the backyard with my mother and the news came over the radio. I vividly remember my mom crying along with our neighbor.
The world stood still the day Elvis died. He is legend
I gotta agree....idk if it's tears of sadness because he's not here anymore or tears of joy because i feel blessed to hear him sing
He was definitely one of a kind! Handsome, talented, generous and great sense of humor. No other like him â„ïž
elvis had a beautiful voice, rhythm, and all the smooth moves of a consummate performer and ladies man. he brought an intense physical energy and raw sexual power that we never saw with a white performer before. it is so much fun to watch your reaction
Elvis was the OG. Literally. He did EVERYTHING first. Sexiest man to ever grace a stage, with a voice to match.
hi love
And his charisma was off the charts.
Well..
Check out Little Richard..

I was 16 when Elvis died. I'll always remember, I was at some crummy after school job and of course I was way too cool for his music. But even as a dumb teen I knew something really big and important had left the world. Later in life I met an older guy at my job who actually knew Elvis in the army and was stationed in Germany with him. He said he was a great guy and always took
care of the guys he served with. No one had to pay for anything when they were out on the town with Elvis.
Elvis was a man that the world could strive to replicate and make themselves and the people around themselves better by achieving that goal
He was so high energy at this time that he couldnât resist singing some backing vocals for himself.
They don't call him " The King" for nothing!
Whitney Houstonâs mom was one of those ladies that backed him up.
Wow. Quite an interesting fact
No. Cissy Houston left the Sweet Inspirations in 1969. This performance is in 1970.
Kerry Mills she still backed him up..
I never knew that!
I loved seeing your shocked reaction when Elvis did those action moves. Elvis was a black belt in karate, so he definitely used those moves onstage too. He was a great entertainer.
This is a great reaction! He was, is and will always be the unequaled king..
That background singer is whitney houstons mom the reason he did that is they changed the harmony up and he noticed
wrong....
she was only with him for 5 weeks in 1969, and was gone before this show
When I saw him in concert he sang for 1 hour and 45 minutes. His incredible voice never failed him. I saw him in Pine Bluff, Arkansas 9 months later he passed away. You should listen to fo his studio recordings, And the Aloha from Hawaii. Over 1 billion people have seen that concert. He always gave 100% of himself.
Seen him in July of 75'. Got about 30-40 feet from him on stage. I was 10 years old, and remember the stage was covered with đč, hotel room keys and bras. Electrifying âĄïž
I am an old white guy and a retired cop from a major city, In the Ghetto is one of the most emotional songs I have ever heard.
I'm glad someone so young would examine and look at Elvis and determine how Elvis was a great draw, He wasn't just a showman, a sexy man, even today his performances are wonderous, he is Elvis, he is Elvis. He is the performer of ages, a stage performer, Elvis transcends time and decades! He excelled what everyone was fed as a show. He gave us a show that we never knew.
I saw Elvis live in 1972. My big brother took me to the show. It was like a religious experience!!! Great memory. So wonderful.â€
The true King đ of Rock & Roll! There is only one Elvis Presley!
I smiled watching you observe him. Yup, welcome to why this guy has had a worldwide fan base for decades after his passing. Youâd have to hear more of his song catalog- he recorded about 700 songs- to gain a full appreciation for how he could sing baritone, bass and tenor. He had a great sense of humor, was very philanthropic (and Iâm not talking about giving away Cadillacs.) And then thereâs his stage presence, kindness towards fans and humility. There have been many wonderful performers over the years but no one has been as beloved and for as long as Elvis Presley.
68 Comeback Special. Any clip or watch the whole thing as a streaming special. Everything you mentioned about him is in it. To me, in it, he is the epitome of cool.
I'm old, and have been a fan of his since I was 5.
You are so right! The 68 comeback special is definitely something amazing.
If I can Dream is my favorite song from his 68 Special but I still think Aloha from Hawaii is Elvis in his Prime and absolutely the best
I attended an Elvis Presley concert in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the old Met stadium. I was 16 years old in 1975. I went with my older brother and sister and a friend of my brothers. It was in November, cold, but we drove there in my mom's red convertible with the top down singing Elvis songs on old vhs tapes. When Elvis entered the stage the screaming was deafening. Was an incredible experience. I brag to this day I went to an Elvis Presley concert.
Was it as bad as the Beatles that you couldnât hear the concert over the screaming đđ
@@MissEddieBlueKawaiiKrafts Many of Elvis's famed TCB band members have shared countless upon countless stories and attested to experiencing that phenomena literally hundreds of times through the years, so that answer would be an emphatic yes.
Your lucky I wish I was born earlier
I loved seeing your reaction to our Elvis. Like the Beatles, he is one of a kind. We lost him way too soon.â€ïž
Elvis was a black belt in karate..... as you can see by his moves. I loved him since I was a little girl! Your reaction was great!
