I'm just so glad I can catch actual glimpses of Marzia again. She was my idol growing up, her grace and calm, her love for art and designing, and her aesthetics really influenced me a lot. I always look forward to these vlogs. Right now I don't have the money to travel to Japan and it is my number 1 place to go to. As a Japanese, I really like the fact that you are trying to understand Japan, not just live in Japan. Especially, I really like that you are interested in and studying the Meiji Restoration. Many Japanese, especially boys, are romantic about the Meiji Restoration, and it is a popular field of history. It was a pillar of modern Japan and the last period of domestic wars.
But for me, one regrettable aspect of the Meiji Restoration process was the abandonment of more than 300 castles in order to change the previous system. It may have been a necessary measure at the time, but as someone living 150 years later, I would have liked to keep the castles of the time and enjoy the history.
Meiji era was a very interesting time, probably the most fascinating Japanese period for me. It's a shame that so many castles had to be destroyed to help bring about change though.
