Why The Punisher WAS The Best Written Character In All Comic Books (And How They Ruined Him)

- Everyone is familiar with the man behind the mantle of The Punisher: Frank Castle. We all know that his family was killed, and that drove him to become the most violent anti-hero of all, as he became a one-man clean-up crew in his mission to rid the streets of all criminals and gangs. In his quest, he has established himself as the top honcho when it comes to brutality and mayhem.
The problem is, when it comes to the perception around him, especially in the mainstream world, he’s perceived as just that. Not many people know the history behind him, or more importantly…the psychology. When it comes down to it, Frank Castle or The Punisher, was the best-written comic book character in history.
They did it on purpose. They said it publicly that they hated who and what the brand became associated with - so they killed it.

I was asked when I was a kid reading both Batman and Punisher comics who I liked more? I always said Punisher. They looked at me like I was crazy saying that Batman was way better than the Punisher. I told them that Batman was more a villain than his own villains for always letting them off with jail and then escaping later just to kill innocent people again. Punisher didn't do that. Some scoffed at me and others said good point. What makes the Punisher ( in my eyes ) so great is that he's human. He doesn't have claws or super strength to achieve his goals. It's just one man putting his mind and experience to work and finishing the job at hand. Are Batman and the Punisher alike? In some ways yes. But Frank will always be better in their field for making the harder choices. I enjoy both comics very much for their plots and fear factor they bring to the villians. But the Punisher will have my vote everytime.
Hopefully The Punisher season 3 will bring back the Frank Castle we need

No way Disney allows the punisher to be what he really is. Watch, a girl punisher will beat his ass, he'll be a dad figure, and a clown.
He is the only “Punisher” I know. Ryan, make it happen.
Punisher is, by no means, the best written character in comics.
He has had insane jump the shark arcs to justify having him do anything significant in a world with super powers and broaden his appeal to sell books.

My biggest issue is the fact that they tried to replace him with a British dude named "Joe Garrison" and then tried to compare Frank and Joe to Johnny Blaze and Dan Ketch. It hurts me on a deeper level because I cosplayed the Punisher in the past, and enjoyed his comics as they were a throwback to the low budget action films, I grew up watching. Heck, the only way they could fix that bad ending is if Frank's Wife isn't really Frank's wife but a demon who manipulated and Tricked Frank. That's the only way they can theoretically fix it. (Also make the retcon of his memories as a mentally disturbed child be false memories implanted.) Marvel is so messed up in the head that they even removed him in a Marvel Zombies story that Garth Ennis wrote.
