I got a reel of the cyberflash over a dozen years ago based on good reviews at the time. Plus, it was very inexpensive. Used it mainly as crosses instead of syn gut. It is so durable, I still have the reel today!

Mark: Back, as promised, to detail my experience with Tour 1 "Firewire" strings.
6 sided and made for control (stiff).
Stiff is the operative word. The string had very little feel or feedback from the baseline. Even after several hours of play, it still was unresponsive. The ball didn't come off the strings as expected.
At the net, the same was true but, on the positive side, there was a lot of control that a stiff string should bring. Again...no feedback from the shot. The didn't seem to "bounce" off the strings.
Serves and overheads did benefit from the 6-cornered shape. The shots took the spin and moved a bit more agressive than usual. Flat serves took stronger pronation and "whip" to bring them into the service court.
But, as you know, doubles is about placement rather than sheer force. Firewire did a good job here.
Overall, players who want a responsive string (at any tension) might want to avoid Firewire. If you want control and spin, it would work but it will take some time getting used to the added stiffness.
    As always, YMMV.

I dont get how the string feels stiff to you, on the contrary i found it one of the softer onces i've tested over the last 18 months. (around 50 different poly's).
My idea is, spin orientated and thus shaped poly's tend to be the stiffer onces.
I think you got a bad badge or something like that, it actually does feel and play like a softer alu power. It's called a poor man's alu power for a reason.
Do agree that Cyber Flash and YPTP are among the best string you can get. Actually, I have 3 strings of choice, and considering price, I think those 3 are unbeatable when it comes to 'getting worth for your money'. The 3 being, YPTP, Cyber Flash and Isospeed Cream are the best value strings you can find.
Ps: Your dog is damn adorable ;)

Mark, how is the Cyberblue? It's marketed as the softer version of Cyberflash, kind of like hyperG soft. Price points are similar. I am looking to get a reel and having a tough time deciding between the two (cyber blue and cyber flash). Thanks!

    • @pavelleskov3482
      @pavelleskov3482 Před 2 lety +1

I’ve been using cyber blue for over 10 years and really like it . It’s more soft and comfortable than flash , but still crisp and not muted (also tried Solinco and it was too muted for me ) . Past 2 years I’ve been using cyber blue (crosses) and volkl cyclone ( mains) for added spin and love this setup. Dropped the tension a little bit ( 47/49 - Head Gravity Pro, used to play with RF97A) and this hybrid is very arm friendly , but still has that crisp feel with lots of control and added spin thanks to Cyclone in mains. I’ve also tried Cyclone in full bed , but didn’t like it as much . It seems like Cyclone in mains snaps back faster with Blue in crosses ( it’s very smooth comparing to Cyclone gear shaped profile ). Over the years I’ve tried other polys - luxilon , Solinco , gamma , but this hybrid of Cyclone/Blue works the best for me . You can’t beat the price for the reel - around $70 . Tension maintenance and durability are outstanding . Unusually replace them after 3 months , but could continue playing .

I was messing around with some Gosen Polynon today...I strung a Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 with full Gosen Poly at 30 lbs! I wasn't expecting it to play very well due to the extreme low tension. I was wrong...I loved it! It's so inexpensive, you can experiment like this. I have also strung it in a hybrid combo with poly mains and Prince syn gut for the crosses. I liked that too, but have not tried it with an absurdly low tension like the full-bed on the Pro Staff. The hybrid was done on a Radical S at 48 lbs. Why pay more?

I just restrung my doubles set-up (2019 Yonex Ezone DR) with Tier1 "Firewire" (@60#).
Playing a local tourny this weekend. I'll give you quick "review" of the string performance next week...sans video and sans my tourny results.
I expect us to show-up and challenge the field.
    FTR, I am USTA4.0 and 63YO.
Consider myself a "doubles gun fighter" but don't work with any outside expectations; I know my limits.
OK, OK...I know the advice of restringing "new" for tourny.
But, since I am impressed by Tier1 Black Knight...well...why not?
Coincidentally, you (and @IanWestermann) may want to come over to Midland MI to participate in the future; we have 2 unsanctioned tourneys per year.
For this event, we have almost 120 players from across the State registered and Ian would be quite comfortable here...he's been here before...in college.
