If a family of four all wanted one = £14, which from a home baking perspective is hilarious, due the value difference in making a nice big pie to share, with seconds to go around. So glad I make my own using personally selected cuts.
Most £2-£4 "Steak" pies & pastries use bits I personally wouldn't, and we should all remember the Legend of Sweeney Todd. "But...Convenience"...yadda, yadda..."I'm single and can't learn to bake..." and such, no doubt applies to many who may not care so much as to exactly what parts of the animal they feed themselves and their children.

If I am flush with a few quid I treat myself to a shop in M&S or Waitrose…will give this a try 👍

Thanks for the review, like you I find M & S food good value, not cheap but not taking you for a mug prices either. If I ever see one of these peis reduced for quick sale I'll try one. One pie I did find surprisingly nice was Morrisons own brand, about same price as Pukka ones but better

Not sure what pies you think are being sold for £1 in 2024 or what goes in them. But the cheapest ok supermarket pies are about £2 now. Those wil have parts of cow in them so then can be called beef but they won't be the bits most woudl choose to eat. Most good pies are in the £3.50-£4 range so in line with M&S. But if your looking for great pie. The Charlie Bingham ones are excellent but those are £5 each.

If you're happy to spend that sort of money on an individual small pie, support your local butcher. Probably bigger and better, if not cheaper.

£3.50 is just too much imo. Cant beat Pukka when theyre regually on offer for £1.20. Is this worth 3 pukka pies?
