Pricing for 2oz is just beyond ridiculous. Royal Mint must be operating in the Metaverse as they really need to get a grip with their quality / pricing .
Totally agree
It's like westminster collection prices
@@harmonykrieg BINGO
All 195 Limited Edition of the Royal Mint's 2024 Pistrucci Saint George & the Dragon Gold matte finish 2 troy ounce coins quickly sold out within a few minutes for £5,545 each when they were released the morning of Thursday February 15, 2024. On the other hand, the silver 2 troy ounce proof version has a much larger mintage of 2,950 coins and are still available to order for £275 each.
not a fan off the price hikes what are they thinking .and where are the Timothy Noad and Jodie Clarks of the mints gone can they stop rehashing past masters and come up with fresh designs
I agree
The last 12 months money has been slow, so I cannot justify me paying these high premiums, will only jump on good value, thanks for sharing.
Fair enough!
I have the original design and dont need a replica....
I bought a 2oz silver, had to be done. They are what they are, beautiful coins that would grace any stack/collection but a bit overpriced, or the value of our pounds are not worth what they were, either way to have a world class stack you have to add world class coins and this does tick all the boxes, hopefully it will be one that ages like a fine wine rather than the furored flurry of frenzied flipping nonsence, they are probably being bought by strong hands looking to keep them which time will make them rare, but whatever its a gorgeous coin and one is mine for many many years to come :)
Thanks for sharing!
I would rather have an original silver crown from the 1800s or early 1900s.
Im not a fan of any proofs at the moment. Im picking up proofs on the second hand market for not much more than bullion. Not worth buying brand new anymore. The market might change in the future, but its rock bottom at the minute.
Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten! At 10am I bought the 2oz to go with my set so far. I agree that the 5oz does look to have better proportions.
Happy to get the 2oz thanks for reminding us about this release. Dan
I settle for the bullion bar version. I'm intrigued to see how they fit that design in a rectangular bar.
Like #39 - great video BYB, thanks for showing us these in detail
Thank you 🤗!
A nice 1/4oz gold proof for us peasants would've been good.
Maybe, but even that would have been around £800
Way to expensive I will stick to bullion sobs
The premium is very high if lucky after few months they will sell under rmp like most of Charles coins release
Managed to get a 2oz but had so many payment authentication failures trying to order it
Ordered 5oz
Think I will stick to Britannia's mostly.
The edge lettering with the fancy capsule convinced me on the 2oz. Btw, the Simon silver 2oz set is finally sold out.
Not exactly sold out. The RM stopped production of them after Dec 31 2023. That is to say, the entire mintage didn’t sell out.
@@WestminstrelsyGood point, hopefully the mintage was lower, I think it’s a lovely coin set
Greedy price hikes from the royal mint.
I have tp admit, the 5oz was in my basket but i came away with a 2oz .... Just too greedy
Indeed
@@BackyardBullion if you don't want your 5oz I'll take it 😂😇
Quite possibly. Depends how I feel when I get it whether I will keep it.
I don't think you will be parting with it . I could have bought it but I'm only young in my stacking adventure so it's feels alot of currency to tie up into 1 silver coin . I have bought gold proof coins from dealers cheaper 😂
the markup is crazy
Whats your opinion on the Tudor dragon that's on its way from royal mint BYB??
I haven't bought them, that should say enough!
They are not released yet tho???
To be honest, I haven't kept up with the news. No idea!
10oz looks good. No kilo gold?
Yeah, there is a kilo gold
