For a fairer comparison between the two rifles on recoil impulse, gas blow back, weight & balance, etc. I think the exact same suppressor should be used on both, or shouldn't be used at all.
They both have tuneable gas. The MCX has less reciprocating mass so that doesn’t bother me. I agree the suppressor and probably the light too are affecting the balance comparison.
I was thinking the same thing. Having the lighter can on the MPX gave it an advantage above whatever advantage it would already have over the JAKL
The SIG loses. The tunability of the JAKL is what makes it special. And cost comparison is a rough thing to deal with. The SIG does have a trick. The barrel swap. But, PSA has that coming.
@@PureCountryof91lol the mcx is far superior than any psa. Materials used and manufacturing alone beat any psa rifle. You get what you pay for. Buy both and see what one last longer while keeping performance

I can get The Sig spear LT for $2,500. The jackal is $1,300. And I'd still spend the extra on the Sig. Nothing against PSA. I just prefer the features

You're going to love it, I wouldn't pay much attention to this video. I have a 300blk jakl and it's whisper quiet with subs. In fact, it's almost as quiet as my suppressed MPX. I'm not sure why they did a comparison with different suppressors. They should have just threw on identical flash hiders and called it a day. The balance is identical as well. Granted, I'm comparing it to the mpx, since I don't have an mcx. But I have to assume the mpx and mcx are similar enough

@makinbacon3124 it won't cycle my subs without my suppressor attached, even on the highest setting. So I pretty much only shoot it suppressed. That being said, it handles supers well when suppressed and tuned for subs. Only time will tell if that's wearing the internals more quickly, but so far so good

@@makinbacon3124so, the shorties, due to dwell time, only have 4 gas settings, the rifle version has several more. Important to note, I have a 5.56 13.7. and, it's soft shooting with potential to shut the gas off.
PSA is killing it. JAKLs and SABREs are a hell of deal. What you get for what you pay is unreal.
The Jakl uppers aren't even available on PSA's site. 5.56 version are though. They have a lot of issues with the .300blk version. One issue is the 1:8 twist lmao.
Uppers by themselves you mean? I just ordered and received the Jakl 300blk about a month ago@@EvilWiffles also 1x8 is pretty standard for 300blk, you can go for 1x7 maybe. But 1x8 is fine for heavy 190-200gr subsonic rounds. close to a 1000rnds and with tuning the gas block i have had 0 issues.
If you are going to pay that for a Sabre just go ahead and buy a BCM and get a real professional grade fighting rifle.
@@crashdsnowman1BCM make excellent rifles, but do you have any data to support that a Sabre is not worth the money? If you look at a list of the components a Sabre comes with, it’s very high quality parts from high end reputable manufacturers, assuming their upper and lower received are manufactured to at least mil-spec or better. My point is on paper a Sabre looks just as good as a BCM, maybe better, and it is $500 cheaper.
@crashdsnowman1 If you can find BCM in stock, sure. I'd always prefer BCM over PSA anyways. But they are so high in demand that they are constantly out of stock. Just wish PSA would do more .300blk uppers in their Sabre line.
Fucking LOVE my JAKL. Really crazy is the only company trying to INNOVATE now. Everyone else is chasing the "short stroke piston" fad currently, and PSA said "fuck that i'm going my own way" which i respect much more

If PSA makes the JAKL in a 1 in 5" twist 300 Blackout I will definitely get one.
I have a few 300 blackouts. What’s the benefit of the 1/5 twist rate. This is the first I have heard of that.
@@twelvepercentitalian2511It’s just a little bit better with subs. If you think about it, the Jakl being 1/8, you’re asking it to stabilize and group the same 200gr projectile you would put in a 300 PRC with a 1/8 twist, but with 1/3rd the velocity. Velocity being directly related to stability, it’s not hard to see 1/8 being less than ideal, albeit still workable, for subs. You’re more likely to notice it in shorter barrels though. 8 inch and up, you should be fine with 1/7 or 1/8. But if it’s shorter than 8, I’d prefer the 1/5.
Just get a 1.5 twist barrel and save the stock barrel as replacement

for your issues with the shot timer not picking up the suppressed shots, stand on the shooter's right side and hold the shot timer near the ejection port, tends to work better. We do that for competitions/matches when RO'ing people with suppressed rifles.
I have both of these in 5.56. The Sig is a much better rifle. However if I had to rank the piston guns that I have based on value the Bren 2 would be top, BRN 180, then my M90 Ak, then JAKL and then Sig. The JAKL is a fine weapon and I would recommend it but it doesn’t have anything that says “this is great, you need it”. The Sig is very nice but very expensive. The Bren 2 is a really nice gun.

@@RealSugam My son just spent a ton on parts for the Bren 2 (brace, rail, gas key, trigger shoe) and used it in a 2 day carbine class. It shot real well and he loves it.

Great video! I tend to require 500-1k rounds to verify a particular gun is reliable despite manufacturer reputation. I’ve had some low end options pass and some high end ones fail. The Sig is the better gun for sure, but it is good to realize you are spending $2000 for a 5-10% performance increase. Training can get that increase for a fraction the cost.
But that same training level then on the MCX still puts it ahead, and the better you get, the more you require out of your gun. Like a regular person may never out-drive a camaro, but a seasoned race car driver can push a purpose built race car to its limits.
Totally agree. The more you get into shooting the more you appreciate and use those extra percentages.
If you are really chasing optimization I would argue a quality custom DI AR is going to be better. Typically lighter, more accurate, better balance, better stock, better trigger. All for considerably less.
@@imberaeris6768 there's definitely pros and cons to every type of build. I've ran things like lightweight KACs, custom builds(I'm a gunsmith machinist on the side so I even manufacture/prototype my own stuff), ran 3 gun comps and taught defensive firearm classes, and IME whatever optimization you make in one direction, you generally lose something somewhere else; all depends on use case too. If it's a competition gun(like 3 gun) with short courses of fire, lightweight is going to be pretty optimized. If you're making a true fighting rifle a super light gun is going to heat up quickly(especially in the receiver with DI) respond poorly to supressors especially heavier full auto rated cans due to the weight on the front of the barrel, limit your fire rate/volume of fire, be less rugged and capable of surviving abuse. And if you're optimizing for a PDW/private armed security role, then a lightweight gun is going to be appreciated, but a DI gun is going to limit your concealability(unless you use something like a LAW folder) but then at that point you lose the ability to FWF(fire while folded) making vehicle work performance very poor due to having to fire from the full length configuration.
That's the key benefit of the MCX, modularity; due to its 1913 rear interface it allows many quick mission specific stock options, and being a non-buffered short stroke piston gun, it can fire while folded regardless of stock. Barrels themselves can be quickly and easily changed while maintaining the same upper or the entire upper can be easily changed just like an AR while retaining all the benefits of the MCX platform lower. And as far as weight, they can be a big ol' chonky duty/combat rugged system, or something lighter than a honey badger capable of folding even smaller.
End of the day everyone's use case is going to vary wildly, but most likely the MCX does offer a configuration that fits virtually everyone's needs, from a legitimate military special forces role(actually being serviced in combat) to the private security detail protecting the elite/rich/famous, to a badass range toy for your local larper lol.
Spear Lt is awesome! Sig builds these to go at least 20,000 rounds without needing to replace any parts (including small springs). If trusting your life to one of these go Spear Lt.

I’m the proud owner of a surefire x300u on an sbs’d shockwave 590S. And a cloud rein 3.0 micro on my 12.5” sbr! No ragrets and no previous purchase throw away hindering my budgets…cuz where I’m from, just 1 “spare part” like the chrome microbest bcg I bought as a “backup” become the heart of my “new build”!
That always happens. My son and I were going through a parts tote with grips, stocks, bags, and buis. He said "Dad, it's time to build another gun. You have too many parts" 😅
@@MrCashewkitty exactly!!! All it takes is a bcg….or a barrel! All of a sudden I found cross machine tool….billet ambi receiver set for $488!! Check it out. Better than radian adac (with ability to lock bolt by mag release button and bolt release right hand trigger finger!) for less than the radian lower!($519 adac lower vs $488 SET….billet matching upper AND lower! Looks like I’ll be buying that Geissele 12.5 chf/cl barrel!!!! CMT also makes some of the best handguards in the market. In those hard to find 11.5” and 12.5” lengths. Oh, and I want a 10.3” 300 blackout for short/quiet and a 16” 308 for long/louds!! Dammit, expensive hobby….and we need to buy bullets still!!!!

PSA is doing fantastic work. all their stuff just runs. that's all you can ask for from a tool if it comes down to you needing it.
As a civilian, I'd go with the Jakl. It does everything I'd ever need a rifle (or braced pistol) to do for a price that still allows me to actually shoot it and become proficient with it. From a professional's POV, I'd think they'd likely go with the MCX. Nothing against PSA, but I figure a soldier or contractor would rather have their weapon backed by a company they know makes quality products for professional use. Not saying the Jakl couldn't hang in the same environments, but I also don't know that it's built with the same type of use in mind as the MCX. I do feel that it offers enough similar performance to be a real value at nearly half the price, but it all depends on what you need the weapon for. I wouldn't be upset about running either system though.
The JAKL just isn't proven in those scenarios and likely never will be unless something happens in the US or some bad actors somehow get ahold of them for use elsewhere, which is also not likely.
Edited to add: I'm an owner of a 5.56 JAKL pistol(SBR) and it's performed flawlessly. It was just a better value proposition to me over the price of a SIG. In my personal opinion, Sig over charges for what you get, too.
@@mmancino1982 I am a SIG owner and I agree, that some of the products are a little over priced. Not everything, but some things are.
I see people in the comments all the time measuring quality with a military contract. The issue is there are more firearms makers out there making decent guns that don't have military contracts than those who do. Having a military contract is not automatically a stamp of superior quality. Please don't read into my statement, I'm not saying the JAKL is superior and the MCX is inferior or visa versa, but it does seem to be an argument of standards of quality some people default to. There is no denying the battle ground is the ultimate testing ground, I should know, as a Marine veteran I've been there done that with a host of small arms. The lack of battlefield testing does not automatically translate into inferior, it simply means a product has never been used in the rigors of military combat. Nothing more. However, what is not contracted by the military may often times get LE contracts.

Nice review. I’ve never shot either of them, but based on the review, I would take the PSA for less than half the price. I’ve only ever had great products from each of the two companies, and would be proud to have either of those beauties.

@@breckfreeride The smoothest rifle I own is a Bushmaster upper with a heavy barrel on a PSA lower funny enough idk why but it’s smooth like glass everyone that handles it and shoots it always says “Dude did you polish the internals or do something to it?” I would describe it like the feeling of racking a high end 2011 lol it makes zero sense I have high end rifles that aren’t as smooth and it only has like 3k rounds through it

I have both upper conversions... I am running them on ADM lowers.
The MCX upper is freak'n sweet, however not good enough to justify getting another one as it only slightly edges out the JAKL. If the JAKL had a "FULL OFF" position it would edge OUT the MCX, IMO.
For a PDW role, I prefer Rattler w/ 5.5" bbl so it can be folded to 16" including a key micro muzzle, which fits into a large computer bag or small backpack. Anything with more than 7" or 8" bbl is pushing it.
If it is just for a CQB rifle and portability isn't a concern, the 9" Spear LT 300 BLK would be nice.
That's why I got my MCX Canebrake and also my MPX Copperhead, two different guns but both great quality and great concealability in small bags.
I wonder if the Jakl is louder than the MCX when using the same can?
Almost got a Jakl...zastava just seemed more authentic tho for about the same price at the time. Mine came with the full MLOC rail and its been Amazing 👏 3k and counting with no malfunctions 😂

I just cannot justify getting a JAKL since I already has an 8" DI AR in .300BO that ran flawlessly, and super quiet with subsonic ammo.
Jakl’s sell for between $1k-1300. The Sig is more around the $2,500-3k price tag

The weapon that continues to work and the owner/operator can keep its cupboards full is the weapon to have.
I will always remember a couple gun buffs arguing about why this one man loved Glock sooo much! When, he had beautiful chromed custom 1911’s and such… he said yes he loves his customs more than his Glocks, but when there’s an issue he can throw his Glock out a window and not care 1 bit cuz he can go get another one just like it for cheap money the very next day! Can’t do that…or WON’T do that with a custom 1911!!! And it’s true! There’s no replacement or compensation for a rock bottom priced, 100% on my dead body reliable, self defense weapon that eats the most commonly found caliber bullet on earth!! And I’d have to say that ethos goes into the rifle/sbr/occ weapon market too!!! For the price point…any gripes over Sig sauer get AMPLIFIED….while for the price….any gripes out a Glock can be OVERLOOKED. Funny how that happens. I’m not some big fan of Glock….but it’s on me whenever I leave the house. Now my 44 revolver….it looks and sounds awesome at the range and I’d be a bit pissed when I encounter a bear in the woods while hiking with my dogs, and only having my flock on me (19+1 9mm) when I know my 44 would out it down. But, I’d only have 5 more if I miss….and sliding that barrel down my pants to go hiking is like sticking a hikers pole down my pants. And the bear ain’t gonna stop and tell me how nice that pistol is!!!
At 5k rounds you’ve spend $2500 on ammo, over a couple years you ammo will be way more expensive than the gun, 1k price difference isn’t actually that much over a couple of years especially if you keep your guns and just only buy a couple high quality ones

I shoot a 300blk a lot using subs in 2 gun and the only way to reliably capture the shots with the timer is to hold it near the ejection port and just deal with the brass flying at you.

I would love the jakl it’s a great gun and I would pick it cost wise over the mcx but that’s it. I truly believe the mcx is the overall better gun and it has the 1:5 twist rate you want with 300blkout
The gas is due to the suppressors… the sig is a flow thru, naturally having less gas
If it's for work and I'm living with it 24/7 , Pony up the cash for the spear the contract better take the sting out of the investment. I honestly see the PSA as a viable home and range gun .
1:5 barrel vs 1:7. I have zero idea why manufacturers are still producing the slower barrel for 300blk. The rotational energy in supers and subs is SUBSTANTIAL. MCX for the win.
You should have got the BRN-180SH in the mix. It is made to be suppressed.

Quick question for the community. I have an offer to buy an Sig Virtus 9” blackout for $1500.(complete gun, not just the upper) I was going to get a Jakl in blackout which is just over 1,000 before tax, but I’m considering the Virtus. Either is for home defense and the range. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Years from now Sig will have discontinued this model and will no longer supply parts or service. Their business model has turned into that of Apple and Bose. Know before you buy!
Im surprised to even see these compared. I'd usually put the MCX against a KAC/Radian/LWRC, but never even thought of the jackal being competition(which it doesn't really seem to be unsurprisingly)
Long stroke guns always seem heavier and there is more reciprocating mass.

First, don't call a brace a stock then compare the two. Second, don't compare weights and sound reduction unless using the very same can on both guns.
Is that JAKL price including the optic light and can? Cuz that is like a grand more than I paid for mine.
Comparison really comes down to, is the Sig truly worth nearly $2k more? I'm not running my JAKL in a conflict zone so I couldn't justify the price hike. The JAKL was a much better value proposition and had run flawlessly with even the crappiest old Tulammo I good get my hands on.
Rattler avg 2.3k jakl avg 1.2k, the rattler is objectively the better firearm however that’s including having some deep pockets
@@gabecastillo1634 for sure there are objectively better firearms. I guess taking the price and desire to have one or the other out of it, do most people need something as battle proven as a Sig? Now, to answer my own question, if I was certain I'd be in a combat scenario, not home defense or periodic unrest, I would want the platform that's battle proven. I think the JAKL is perfectly fine for a vast majority of people's "needs". Do I want a SPEAR or MCX of any kind? Fuck ya! But until the price of one is part of my disposable income, it just doesn't make sense. I'd wager many of us are in this boat (though us less fiscally responsible folks would just charge it and worry about it later🤣)
@@mmancino1982 honestly to be fair the amount of money some people spend on race guns seems outrageous to me but to each their own, the rattler at least to me seems pretty attainable from a saving point of view but honestly I want a jakl because it looks cool and has a good price lol I’ve yet to get a rattler but I do have an mpx I enjoy
On the noise, you didn't say if it was the can that made the Sig quieter or something with the rifle itself.
Was confused by the trigger part??? I run mostly G triggers and have started using MBTs recently. The Jakyl i shot had a sweet trigger. Right up there with the Larue. He said it was a stock trigger.
I (Jamison) have a LaRue MBT in my main rifle and it's great. I may pick one up to put in the JAKL. The trigger that came in it is lacking.

Hes the first person I've ever heard say they had zero issues with a .300jakl. Mine didn't run well until about 300rds of supers and I still have some issues with subs with a sandman s suppressor

Dude this is what I thought T.REX arms was going to do, why on earth they’d compare the 13.5 JAKL to an AR15 I have no clue. This is what the JAKL was built for, I still love the rifle versions they’re so sicck but it won’t replace my AR
The JAKL is a tank. Overbuilt. Heavily optioned. Average accuracy. Exceptional optic stability. A greatly tunable gas system. All coming in at $800. As an upper.
For the few differences and half the price I think the jakl is the winner. Was it more front heavy because of the OWL is a chunky light? I run the OWL on my 13.7 and it’s a beast of a light .
I'm probably going to throw a Surefire Turbo (or maybe a Modlite) on it in the future. The OWL is a beefy light for sure. I dig the warm output though!
Also the sandman s with a keymo flash hider is 25 ounces out at the farthest point of the gun

Jakl is 1099.99 pistol and 1299.99 rifle. You can literally get 4 for the price of the SIG
These 2 don't compare at all. Just like the price on them. But as we see them coming in at 2299-2499 consistently now.... the MCX LT is hands down better. I had both. The jalk came rusted from the factory, adjustable gas that didn't work on the 2nd one. Gave up after that. The Sig tends to be about 1k more. But getting a better barrel, BCG, trigger, handguard, etc etc. The 1k is well worth it. (Hate the stock on the LT)
The Sig isn't "more quiet," its the Sandman-S being loud as heck on 300BLK

The jakl right off the bat has the upper hand by having a side charger. It amazes me you can charge ridiculous amounts of money for an ar and it doesn't have a side charger 😂
the mcx will run you about 2500 and the jakl will run you about 1k are you including all the attachments in that price you listed ?
Nope. Suppressors were included in that price, but optics/lights would add another $800-$1200.
Charging handles on handguards are unacceptable in my opinion. That’s the only thing that forced me to spend the extra money on a rattler upper over some other 300 black options. I’m ok with charging handles on the receiver but prefer the t handle ambidextrous style charging handles.
That's why freedom of choice is a beautiful thing. I prefer side charging handles. Works for me on the HK MP5 etc,
@@terrarecon charging handles on handguards just kill any form of modularity. Makes it more difficult to mount ir lazers or weapon lights. And you lose the ambidextrous ability of t style charging handles.
PSA is a better company than sig for what they stand for, but damn I love the spear lt.
As someone who loves both and who just bought a spear Lt 300blk 9” I absolutely love it but also Sig is making military weapons available to civilians and fast unlike before where it was 10-15 years before we ever seen them in civilian hands and as far as I Know Sig has never said anything anti 2A and donate to pro 2A groups but PSA is louder about it which is nice
@@trentrockwell6598 Not only are they louder but it is why the company was founded. To put as many firearms in the hands of civilians as possible. The more they can flood the market the more chance that item is considered common use.

@@trentrockwell6598 actually my first gun was a P320 then I traded it for a G19. I own Legion P226 and P229 SAO then traded it for G45, 19x and G43x. But yeah I am poor.
The sound of the gunshot being very loud, not comparable to the DD PW.
I'll stick with my tried and true CMMG Dissent 300blk.

This is today’s prices for anyone who clicks in this and is wondering the same thing I was $1300+$900= $2200 for the Jakl and the Lt is $2500+$1250= $3750.
But the suppressors are different so 2500 vs 1300. Both could be found for cheaper then that so around 1000 dollar difference in gun.
Ill sum it up. No. No its not better than the sig.
Buuuuuutttt its different, so its in a seperate lane for me, and the pricepoint is really decent for what ya get. I prefer the 13.7 with the f5 stock in either 223 or 300.
