I love this game. My wife and I would play couch co op on this game for over 1000 hours on PS3. We want a remaster so bad.
Closet thing to that would be running 360 version on a Xbox Series X or playing the PC version with mods.
Impressive that someone still talks about this game.
It should be talked about! It's an underrated, bittersweet entry in the annals of gaming. 🎆
Sacred 2 is a brilliant game, played it loads of times... Ive been playing Gold version again myself... It was the first ever game to use nVidias PhysX.. which caused really bad crashes and no end of issues.. but i highly recommend playing it..
You are right about the rarity of Sacred 2. It was the only Hack n Slash open world game until Diablo 4. There are many turn based open world games though.

I was one of a group of players who had played the original Sacred game who were invited to be the beta testers for Sacred 2.... before the days of Early Access. Ascaron as a community gaming company was exceptional and full of developers who actively participated in the official forums, very much like Larian Studios. The company sent us beta testers a cd boxed copy of the game when it was released as a thank you.
The original Sacred is a true classic and was both playable as offline single player and co-op online. You could also play on their hardcore servers where if your character died it was all over. I have fond memories of joining a group of dedicated Sacred Hardcore players who would regularly play every day.
Sacred 2 was ahead of it's time in many aspects and it was that enthusiasm to introduce new features for the day that increased the development time. The game however is still quite playable and enjoyable today on windows 10/11 so long as you are prepared to install the community patch and a couple of tweaks depending on your pc hardware.
Even the original Sacred game can still be played on windows 10 with the Sacred Reborn patch and there is also a widescreen fix as well. It is showing it's age though and is probably just a bit too clunky for todays gamers.
Sacred Gold is a lovely if a bit repetitive and funky game, maybe through a lens of my childhood nostalgia getting pestered by hundreds of goblins trying to finish a fetch quest with some whacky writing. The sequel, I've only recently learnt existed. Getting around to playing it soon.

I feel like the marketing just wasn't there for this game. I ended up seeing it at a friends house the first time and asking him about it and then I bought it. Had never heard of it prior. Had a great time and just recently got back into it. Believe it or not, I'm still playing the console version since it came back as backwards compatible. The caveat to playing that version is you're pretty much need to do some research online to avoid certain game mechanics that are broken and never got patched (e.g. blacksmithing for instance).
Good point! I only found it through a free demo I got with a PC Gamer magazine. Never would've found it otherwise.
And yes, this game has no character re-specs so reading up on the skills ahead of time is essential. XD

Never played sacred gold? Do it, it's timeless, use reborn mod to both make it work and have a blast, I played it for thousands of hours as a kid, I also love sacred 2 but 1 holds a special place in my heart
