Whilst he may not yet have a sobriquet in France, Jack is certainly making a splash in the french sports press. L'equipe (the daily, very respected, sports newspaper) and Midi Olympique (the weekly rugby specialist newspaper) both rated his performance 9/10 in the European Cup Final and the Top14 Final (the same as Dupont and joint top). What they both noted was that Jack's game has improved in 2023/24 in that, in addition to being a tackling and jackaling machine, he is running much more with the ball, and very effectively too. In the Top14 Final he made 16 runs, as many as Dupont, and for and for approx 70 meters in total! One can only imagine what skill he will add to his panoply next season, perhaps no look passes a la Mauvaca? An incredible player who is genuinely changing Toulouse's perception of English players (there was Rob Andrews but even worse Toby Flood!). At this rate he'll become the new Dusautoir. If only he were eligible to play for France. We'd have him straight into the French XV, no questions asked.

When my French father in law checks the team sheet and is pleased to see Jack starting you know that he must be doing something right. There was even a hopeful question of whether he could one day start for France. Bonne continuation à Toulouse!

You can ask a lot of fans, not just ST fans, and I think we can all agree that we would love England to abolish their silly law and cap this marvelous player, he fully deserves it. What a player !

What's got me is that he speaks french fluently. I guess he learnt it since he arrived in Toulouse to better understand his partners on the field and also Mola's (and coaches) game instructions. Talented, hardworker, humble and smart. Definitively a top player.
I'm french (and Toulousain), i wish he could play for Les Bleus one day, but tbh he deserves 1000 times to wear ''le XV de La Rose" jersey. England board, change your stupid rule.

Similar to Steffon Armitage, Jack Willis broke the record for most turnovers in a single Premiership season, and he only got better playing in France. I just hope that we get to see him in an English jersey.

In Toulouse we have a new legend to scare kids:
"If you forget your ball in the garden, at night Jackal Willis will come to counter ruck it."

overseas based player! england dont have a cap rule to allow overseas based players anymore! which is kind of good since their team was almost unchanged from 2012-2023!

  • @jean-pascalesparceil9008

Toulouse is known as a "big familly" club. Sofiane Guitoune, centre for his last season as player, joins the staff as physiologist and fitness trainer. There are sons of former players in the current team, including Josha Brennan, maybe in 20 years Jack's son and daughter will play for Stade Toulousain. He may not have a permanent nickname yet, but the rugby press calls him a "shears" or a "steamroller".

lets not forget willis has played on 2 occassions against a mostly french teams (franike, baabaas) that has put 50+ point on him

  • @jean-pascalesparceil9008

Some pundits have floated the idea of Toulouse lending him for a season to an English club (that can afford it, maybe Bath) so he would be able to play for England in the next RWC.

At age 29-30 he will be eligible to play for France, 3-year rule ala Jean Kleyn and others. What a player, huge loss to England team. Keep up the good work Jack.

His French mates might rile him while training, but Jack now participates in the pre and post match conferences, understanding and answering question in very understandable French. czcams.com/video/7bAVDHe5Omk/video.html at 00:59 I think he will be as popular as Sir Johny Wilkinson in French rugby.
