Why would anyone argue that being weak and defenseless is a good thing? Giving government a total monopoly on violence is never a reasonable idea. Tell me you are ignorant about history without telling me you are ignorant about history.

The US doesn't have a gun problem, it has a bullying problem. Bullying turns the "silent kids" into school shooters. Schools could make accomodations for students that don't want to feel social pressure like eating outside instead of in a massive cafeteria. Public spending should also go into having clinical psycologists at schools who approach students to detect signs that someone is "at risk" for becoming dangerous. Early detection could prevent many shootings.

Man I could pick apart this video for hours. But one thing that stands out is the school safety issue. So you point out that putting armed guards in schools could cost billions, so then we're putting a price on the safety of children?
That said, which would be more doable in the near future, securing schools say with unbreakable glass, secured entryways, etc. and possibly even armed guards or teachers, or trying to confiscate what probably amounts to more than half a billion guns in the entire 50 states?
The notion that we as a nation could even confiscate half the guns, assuming we voided the 2nd Amendment which is damn near impossible, is laughable.

When doing an analysis of deaths after gun control in different countries, you need to include the analysis of all crimes committed with any weapon to accurately show if there is a shift in how crimes are committed and if guns are the actual problem. If guns are the problem then the graph would only show gun deaths, but there will always be a spike in crimes relating to edged weapons, blunt weapons, and unarmed assaults after firearms are banned. People get very creative in finding ways to harm others, and it's definitely not always through the pulling of a trigger.

"lets watch this gun load itself and go out the door and shoot someone " .. I, left it there for 2 weeks .. pointed it out to her and she just rolled her eyes .. but she did get the idea that it is not the gun but the human with a hand and fingers that commits the crime.

    1. This debate has never been about whether to have a gun. It's only been about taking away voices in the above conversation. It's violently enforced (cops use guns) censorship. The right is the ability to choose, not the obligation.
    2. Violence is a necessary evil in a world where not everyone is perfectly rational, lawful, and civil. Even staunchly antigun politicians understand this when they use police and armed security for protection.
2a. Firearms allow people a capacity for violence that could immediately stop horrific violence and abuse. Police can't be everywhere at once and often refuse to be inconvenienced to follow through on legitimate threats.
2b. Concentrating that capacity for violence solely into the hands of a few with their own culture, lifestyle, and common prejudices creates a higher caste with absolute control. Who holds them responsible when they are the only ones capable of resorting to violence at that level? Regardless of personal feelings about police, there is clear evidence, even now, of abuses of that power and subversion of justice that would harm their class (ex: blue wall of silence).
2c. Police response times and presence are notoriously lacking in lower income and more densely minority populated areas. At the same time, these same areas commonly show more abuses of rights and predatory acts by authorities. These areas are more commonly preyed upon by opportunistic criminal elements and corporations (ex: abusive employment, creditor, and market practices). Pricing/taxing schemes of gun control squarely target poorer and minority peoples who seek the same human dignity freely given to other demographics.
    3. Weapons like knives and clubs limit a persons capacity for violence to their physical limitations. Because violence is competitive, a lower capacity for violence than an attacker can directly impact the outcome of a confromtation, and those who are smaller or less physically abled wouldn’t be afforded the same human dignity or rights without the strictest enforcment of those standards by those with the higher capacity for violence(see 2a-c).
    4. Illegalization by itself disproportionately impacts those who seek to abide by the law for the hope of minimal impact on those who don't. This could act as a multiplier for the disproportional treatment of peoples listed above.
If you think poor people should be victimized because they can't afford to hire security, you're a classist. If you think women should be assaulted because they're genetically/hormonally predisposed to a smaller frame or stature, you're a sexist. If you think a minority person should be victimized because police don't equally prioritize their wellbeing, you're a racist. If you have the time and comfort to be outraged or scared of a hypothetical attack on others instead of a real attacker outside of your home, you're privileged. And, if you think your privilege entitles you to decide for others others how they should value their own lives and safety, you're a narcissist.

You try to come across like your thinking is balanced. As long as you have your bias that an inanimate ( non living) object that "somehow" influenced someone to "go" buy or steal it to accomplish "his/her/its evil desire, you are stuck within your faulty thought process. I "wish", a gun/knife/pitch fork/ vase/rope or 1,000s of other items that can cause harm "could'", come to life long enough, to convince the killer, Please, don't use me to harm anyone. Evil is in the Heart of man, that convinces the mind to act. People "love' their weapons. They're stubborn. Do you "love' your "stubborn" opinions to continue, miss - judging those you do not know or are you going to go beyond the sources, of News and facts that helped "form" your incomplete knowledge ? One guy was flippant to you. The rest had thoughts that should stimulate you to seek truth beyond your present sources. Don't ask others for a solution, you should be using the mind you were given to find out yourself. There is so much you had no time to learn from these people in a moment of time. Or is this just another "topic" to earn money or status that will diminish what you were meant to do in life. I Hope you honestly want and find the truth about why, most people "realized" the need for Arms. Use the brain you were given. A good place to start is youtude site Colion Noir. @uptin I didn't mean to say that gun laws should not be made stricter, I just said that making them stricter will not rapidly reduce the no. of gun deaths. E.g., I see no need for private ownership of rapid-fire arms, be they semi-automatic or fully automatic. No other prosperous nation allows this AFAIK. Introducing such a law would have a long-term effect, but not an immediate one because people can easily find the gun they want on the black market. It would take years b4 the supply of illegal weapons could be reigned in, and it would require cultural shifts not imminent now.

Pretty insane Republican answer. There have been many cases of shootings where armed guards or fully armed policemen were nearby and could do precious little. In 2019, a gunman in Dayton/Ohio killed 9 people by firing 41 shots in 30 (!) seconds. A high-capacity rifle helped enable that speed. Doesn't that make it painfully obvious that rapid-fire arms should be banned for private use? Some people never learn I suppose.

They have provided thousands and thousands of guns to the Mexican cartel. Multiple operations have gone down that have provided the Mexican cartels American firearms and it was all provided by the ATF there are only three industries that have influenced and control over our government. That's the medical industrial complex, the military industrial complex, and the energy industrial complex. No other sector of our economy has any freaking influence at all! I wish you were a decent somewhat qualified journalist and did any freaking research at all.
