They had good anime. Anime is used to advertise manga. ITs the same for one piece. The sales spiked like crazy once the anime popped up in 1999. Then it just stayed at the top of teh charts for ever.

How can oda keep doing this for 20+ fuckin years👑🐐 from 1999-2023 his manga one piece was always in top 10 and also from 1999-2004 one piece was at 1st and again in 2006-2018 for 13 consecutive years NUMBER 1 position🥶 even when demon slayer or jjk dominated still his peak was no less than 10th. Impressive numbers. I know the “Big Three” was a Western Topic, as it was really just the tree series that helped kickstart the Anime-Boom here (from the occasional show like Dragonball or Sailormoon to anime in General finding a foothold), but it’s still surprising how little of a competition it as in general. Bleach was one among many series, and while Naruto was a strong series, One Piece absolutely obliterated it!
And yeah, One Piece fell off recently, but it held itself up there for literally decades…and the latest trend seems to be one of growth again! Even though apparently the entire Manga-Landscape got flipped over, with the last few seconds showing an almost completely new Top. 10!

it's fun to see this as a Manga Collector because i have many of the titles that has been shown in the video and when i see a title that maybe unfamiliar for people nowadays, i somehow feel excited and happy and quite proud that i have those titles in my mini library 😆
For example Kindaichi, Aka-chan to Boku, Rekka, Initial D, Hoshin Engi, Black Cat, Yuukan Club, Tenjou Tenge, Nodame (heck i didn't know that my weird girl was on of the top selling manga back then, lol)
As an American I remember hearing about Naruto in like 2nd grade in 2013. I wonder if people were even watching it or if it was just because of the iconic run but I knew about it. I didn't hear about One Piece until Covid when It came to Netflix. HOW. It was bigger than Harry Potter worldwide and yet I never knew about it. America really is in its own bubble.

Kingdom is so underrated
One piece is the only one there in the top without a seasonal anime. And seasonal anime releases are what brings quality anime that drives sales of the manga. Have the series in junks makes it easier and more enjoyable to consume in quality whereas one piece mainly relies on its manga and story to drive the sales not the anime.

2. It's because everyone decided to buy it thanks to the anime, Anime in the end is only advertisement for the main source, it's to bring in customers. And since Demon Slayer was such a hit in the anime industry people decided to but the manga to know what happens next.

@@hassanwaseem-hy5fi that doesn't necessarily make the manga trash. The mangas art style is not the best but you can tell that the mangaka put in a lot of effort to put her story onto paper.
the fights looking bad is not the fault of the mangaka as fights in manga are a bunch of still pictures trying to convey how the attacks move and stuff, so sadly that is not something the mangaka could do anything about.
I know One Piece is popular but didn't expect to hold the first position for over a decades with the huge sales margin. One Piece = Top Piece. Who said Big 3? Bleach and Naruto are no where near popular like One Piece. Demon Slayer is crazy with over 70M sales for a year. Over 20 years and One Piece is still cooking.

One Piece hit its peak sales in 2010 with 37 million sales, but somehow only 3 years later, 80% of those sales disappeared and it stayed with around 10 million sales.
One Piece has a higher audience, but can't maintain that audience buying the manga consistently.
Naruto hit its peak with in the same year with 7 million sales, but remained with a consistent number throughout the years and ended up the series with 4 million sales.
Naruto didn't reach the same audience, but its audience mostly followed the story to the end.

Yes JJK is top sales per year now but when they got on the list … they weren’t even near the same sales Demon Slayer got when they got in the top 10
SIDE NOTE: the author fi demon slayer is shy and wasn’t expecting or aiming to be that popular when she made her first manga (demon slayer) so yeah the fact it got so huge was indeed shocking

Hate it or like it… the fact is that demon slayer broke some records that wasn’t expected to happen in the concept of general manga sales
The manga itself (from author interviews) says she was expecting normal sales, since it was her first manga and she didn’t aimed to be that huge of sales
So i do agree with you and technically seems she didn’t wanted to get that popular so definitely she should had gotten some small or decent sales instead
But in the end it is quite hard tk ignore the records it broke
@@PRchris13the anime played a important role. It's sales only began when the teaser was released for anime. It didn't do well for three year straight i.e 2016 to 2018.
The teaser attracted many people.
