Eddie's 1972 Lamborghini is what makes the "whooshing" sounds during the "runnin' a little bit hot tonight" part. Such a great idea. And you can thank a guy named Pete Angelus for the inventive, fun, and party-like nature of Van Halen's videos. He was behind it all. He later - God help him - went on to manage The Black Crowes from the '90's until just recently.

Van Halen was a 70s band. They formed in 1972. It took them a long time to get signed to major label. Van Halen I was released in 1978. Eddie is still wearing bell bottoms in this video that was made in 1984. NOBODY were bell bottoms in 1984. Eddie and Dave always knew how to dress. Had great taste in clothes.

I had the pleasure of being in the audience the night this video was filmed. All the stage shots were filmed in Philly during sound check and the show. We all knew a video was being filmed because Dave was nice enough to tell us that we were all going to be on MTV (remember, at the time this video was filmed MTV was only 3 years old and was still a big deal!).
And for the young lady who likes Eddie's pants... he wore and performed in those same pants the entire tour. He didn't wear that shirt live, however, he did adorn that bandana around his neck. For the entire 1984 tour, Eddie actually wore the outfit that he wore in the video for "Jump."

David Lee Roth used to say that he wrote the song about his car. Also, the big chord they sing on the end of the line "feet don't stop me now." is meant to sound like an old car horn.
Note on the fashion. They are dressed in fashions typical of SoCal in the mid eighties.

Wow!!!! What a shocker, I was about to leave my job to go to rehab n I look on my phone n it said that Eddie Van Halen had past away from Throat Cancer at the age of 65 years. Eddie was an icon n in my opinion, the Greatest Rock N Roll Guitarist of all time. Him n his brother Alex Van Halen started the group in the 70's then teamed up with Bass Player Michael Anthony & The Greatest Lead Man in Rock N Roll History, David Lee Roth n then came Sammy Hager. They had so many great hits from the 70's, 80's & 90's. The ones that I like were with David Lee Roth, Panama my favorite, then comes Jump & Jamie's Cryin. Rip Eddie Van Halen, Ur now up in Heaven's Tears playing Panama, just like ur music video flying in the air. God Bless The Van Halen Fam. I don't think I've EVER met anybody that DIDN'T like Van Halen. At least when Dave, then Sammy was with em. An outstandingly great "Summer" and "party" band. They were always pretty good about releasing material sometime during late Winter thru early Spring. Then, by the time school let out for Summer, everybody had it cranked up. AC/DC was pretty good at that also. Those two were arguably on top of the world of Hard Rock for years...super-stardom type stuff. Back when, if bands and artists didn't go on tour, they'd starve (lol, more than a few of em too). There was no internet or anything like that. Live shows, FM radio, and album sales pretty much drove everything...at least until the band's tours started. All except a very few, HAD to promote their material that way. It ans could hit two or three shows a week within easy driving distance. Not nowadays though...and that's the "flip side" of the internet. It's almost completely killed touring here in the U.S. But, Europe and South America are still gettin nasty...and, I gotta admit, I'm jealous as hell of em. Wacken is at the top of my "bucket list." I'll be fifty-five in a few weeks, and I don't care if I'm over ninety years old, I'm gonna get there at least once before my time is done. I love those fans in South America and Europe for still "bringin the pain." It's very much appreciated by more than you'll ever know. If some of em should stumble over a really old man on the ground in the middle of a mosh pit somewhere, pick my dead ass up. Huh...

Juliet and Mia thanks for putting out this, Van Halen is one of the best rock bands in the world and there’s many others that never hear any types of good music these days, they pump me up everyday, just to throw one thing out to you if you two didn’t catch it the riff near the end when Dave was going “yeah we’re running a little bit hot tonight, I can barely see the road from the heat coming on”. There’s a car sound accelerating in the music background, that was Eddie Van Halen’s 1973 Miera S Lamborghini used in the song, which the car he still has today. Thanks for the upload girls, bring more Van Halen songs and other rock songs out there on the channel.

The one constant factor that you do not see in music today is that wether the singer or band came from the 60's , 70's or 80's they all had a certain style and they entertained you. The Front person being he or she had a distinct sound and vocal range. Ex: David Lee Roth, Ann Wilson, Jon Bon Jovi , Steve Perry and etc, etc.

Same. Even when it’s just inside my head, it’s always “PAnaMA” followed by beats.

Panama is one of my very favorite Van Halen songs, I love it!!! Of course I love most all of their music. You need to check out more of the stuff with this singer, David Lee Roth. When Sammy Hagar joined I loved the music even more so check that out too. You girls ROCK!!! 😎 Keep doing what you're doing, it's awesome!!! 🙂😎 BTW my cabowabovhnut is related to their time with Sammy as the singer, if you're interested I'll explain it to you, Peace!!!

You girls have just experienced what made Van Halen so great in the first place. Anything from their first six albums shows the magic that Van Halen was. There's a lot of back-and-forth over Dave vs. Sammy, and this video clearly demonstrates what the non-Hagar faction is talking about. Always glad to see you digging a little deeper, you two are the smartest girls I know (sort of know). Keep going, we're all behind you every step of the way !
