    Nice compact instal 👍
    I have the same Renogy unit, i fitted a switch to the solar input so i can get the full 50A from the alternater but i di carry a spare solar charge controller just in case, having said that thr Renogy unit has been fine for the last 2 years 🤞
    Subbed to follow your build 👍

      Awesome, I got the victron charger as part of the solar panel so only made sense to me to separate them. Otherwise I would have done the same!

      @@jamespenny94 I'd use victron over Renogy any day 👍 if i could afford a full victron set up i would 😎

    Brilliant video thank you.
    Connecting to mains power. Your light red/orange cable, does this main cable go straight onto your leisure battery or via the Renogy battery charger?

      The cable from the starter battery goes to the charger. Then the output from the charger goes to the leisure battery.

    Might be a silly question but, out of interest, do the VW stereos have codes to input when you remove the battery?

      Not the stereo no, to my knowledge it had to be done via the OBD

    Do you use 16mm cable to your dc to dc charger?

    • @jamespenny94
      @jamespenny94  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yes but it’s dependent on where you put it. Use use where you’re going to put everything. Then establish the minimum thickness for current that’ll run through it. Then use an online calculator to make sure it’s thick enough to not voltage drop. Anything in the front should be fine. Anything running the full length to the rear will probably need to be a size up. My main 50A to the rear was 25mm

    Why didn't you go for the renogy lithium battery?

    • @jamespenny94
      @jamespenny94  Před 9 měsíci

      Because it costs about 3x the price and I was already shelling out on the rest of the van!

      @jamespenny94 I am looking to get the webasto heater and renogy lithium battery 170ah but not sure if it will fit under the seat

      @marinejunkies9625 not sure I can help you there. I would suggest checking the dimensions against something standard like a 100/120 AGM buttery as they typically fit nicely

      @jamespenny94 OK thanks. Have you finished yours yet?
