Thats stock engine just with cams... bolt ons (intake, intercooler, exhaust, ecu/tune,) no forged crank, pistons, rods ect. (Stock 6 speed/driveline) They just put a stock head gasket back in and tighten new stock headstuds down tigher. So that in a 1200kg or less and 4wd. Thats a track monster. Why did the headgasket fail ? Because of cylinder bore movement ? It's a known issue on open deck ford engines so a block mod with a bit more clamping force on the head good to push on to 600hp

The fact that this is probably the best tuner car Toyota has ever built, is completely canceled out by the fact that #1 they won't make a lot of them (so demand will always outstrip supply), and #2 if you do manage to find one they'll be way too expensive (either through greedy dealers, or private sellers who "kNoW wHaT tHeY hAvE")

  • @Stroke2Handed

Impressive. I'm making 440 bhp in my '93 Ranger 2.3 Lima. Only 14 psi boost. Why people bother with putting 302 in old Rangers is beyond me. Over 2x the weight and half the power. I have several full size trucks with a 302, but the Ranger is the perfect vessel for a built and boosted 2.3.

I've never looked into it but often wondered why they don't make the engine block & cylinder head with a M/F groove- mating surface machined into them so they intelock into place. Along with a gasket & sealant.
