It's a pity that so few people in the world are aware of this show. I cannot get over how epic this is. Even compared with the big names of theatric performances like Kiss, Iron Maiden or Alice Cooper, this still stands out. Fantastic!

This spectacular show, which began with a narration by SU-METAL, was conducted over two days for an audience of only 14,000 people. Tickets cost about $200, but everyone felt it was still too cheap.

ITNO is the usual opener at live performance after 2018 followed with Distortion and belongs to the Dark Side set of their Metal Galaxy album; "Future Metal" is the opener for the Light Side and is followed by "DA DA DANCE".
KobaMetal is big fan of Brazilian metal so this song contains clearly tribal elements from bands like Sepultura, a very famous Latinamerican metal band, he also love wrestling show so you can see some resemblance with the huge spectacular intro, the stage and badass costumes they put on this.
The live at Budokan 2021 during 10BMY is also top notch so highly recommend you that version to watch and share that with us if you want.
Hopefully you will watch the full Legend S 2017 live concert, and like i said before get ready for some cutting onions ninja around.🧅🥷

It' Su's 25th birthday this year!! They got to do something epic this year...Right? I could see BabyMetal having a Vegas type residency show every December It's a Christmas/New Years/Su's Birthday Celebration Extravaganza It starts small but epic for one band but turns into The Gathering of the Juggalos or an Ozzfeast multi band festival

As you mentioned, 'LEGEND - S - BAPTISM XX' celebrated Su's 20th birthday.
"20" is one of the inspirations for the XX symbol you could see on her staff, etc.
20 is also the traditional coming of age in Japan, and still legal adulthood for some things.
They were also the only concerts (so far) held in Su's home prefecture of Hiroshima.
I'd say it was a triumphal return. : )
I'd say so for sure! It was spectacular! Ya know, all the times I've seen the symbol from her staff, I never once put 2 and 2 together as XX(20). LOL
Hey, the girl celebrates her coming of age in her home town! (And to date those two nights are the only Babymetal performances in Hiroshima). I guess Koba arranged everything to the level he could only afford, and even higher, to make it really special. He knows the Queen deserves it 🦊🤘

This really was the 2.0 version of Babymetal Legend 1997 but with a bigger budget.
The show was in Hiroshima, Suzuka had said years ago: I want to return to my home town and perform to show how I've grown. Let's remember as a little girl she used to perform at the mall. The same mall a teacher from ASH (Actors School of Hiroshima) where she got her first professional help with singing and dancing.
You are definitely lucky if you were there, the tickets in Japan are sold by lottery. It's definitely more fair then 'who comes first'. They were not cheap at this show because they included 3 sacred items: 2 of which were the robe and mask. So everyone looked the same at the show. The mask were the red lights in the audience which light up like the neckbraces at the Tokyo Dome show. Which itself was a reference to the first Budokan shows (Rockmaykan) when everyone had to buy the special edition of the single and wear the neckbraces which came with the single to be allowed into the show.Rockmaykan
Also, I think Xerces had less followers/subjects than Su-metal ;-) Probably because she rules with love, not fear/violence

First introduced in the band’s live performances around 2018, “IN THE NAME OF” acts as the introduction to the album’s second half.
Immediately setting the tone with dark choir vocals and bells, the song is a heavily Sepultura-inspired chugfest dedicated to the Fox God namely Sepultura "Roots Bloody Roots", the deity that, per the band’s lore, created BABYMETAL and set them on the quest for world domination.

My reaction was the same as yours! It must have felt like being on a movie set for the crowd, witnessing the filming of an epic scene. I got chills when all the lights in the crowd lit up as Su tapped the floor with her staff and then the camera rotated up behind her to give us an *amazing* view of the crowd and rocket. Needless to say that I loved every bit of it.
Edit: I think the different views we're seeing could have been straight out of a high budget movie. The fact that all of it is done live with real people and no CGI is nuts.

Like Jake already said, in the 2021 Budokan shows, they did a smaller version of this opening, that was almost on par as level of epicness IMHO.

Great reaction, I knew you would love this opening ... they pulled out all the stops, no expense was spared for Su-metal's special 20th birthday.
In this setting it worked perfectly, but I don't think anybody would argue that 'In The Name Of' as a song is their best. They used it as the intro throughout the 2018 tour and it was OK, but it is nowhere near as good without these theatrics.
I would tend to agree with ya. It's all about the theatrics in this one for me!
The CEO of Amuse was at that show and said something like: this is what I want to develop more.
Clearly Legend S was money well spend and got the approval 🙂

That was great! Despite having seen this a bunch of times, it still gives me goosebumps up to this day. You can say what you want but Amuse clearly doesn’t hesitate to spend a shitload of thought, money and effort into those special shows to give the audience the best possible experience. Legend S is one of my favourite shows along with Tokyo Dome and Legend M. Can’t wait for you to see the full show at some point and make sure you get some tissues at hand (be careful with those onion cutting ninjas^^). 🤘🔥🦊

I love this intro it was a great replacer to BabyMetal Death. And while this debut was awe inspiring. The way they did this song at "10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN" was just jaw dropping but you will get there. Just wait.

Legend S was amazing. There was a little grumbling from some people when we found out Yuimetal wouldn't be there but any doubts people had about that were blasted away by the performance.

It's been a while since the last reaction to "ITNO". And yes, this is beyond amazing. "Legend S - Baptism XX" concerts are objectively two of their best concerts ever. Su's 20th his birthday was not going to go unnoticed. But the concerts had a very emotional and unwanted component as well, being the first concerts without Yui (and without any adaptation of the choreo to the duo formation). Add Mikio's untimely decease few weeks after these shows and you have the most heartbreaking BD ever. I just watched it once and it was too much for me.
I personally love "ITNO" as an opening song. It reminds me of Sepultura's "Ratamahatta" because of the tribal beat.

Have you seen the live version of Ave Maria / Headbanger!! (Night of 15 mix)? I wouldn't normally suggest remixes of what you've already heard, but it's a fairly different take and a great show opening.
I'm wondering how spectacular the January 2023 shows in Japan will be. BABYMETAL's 'big sisters' at Amuse, Perfume, have been using those video walls/floors to good effect. Having two groups capable of selling out arenas must help spread the equipment budget.
I haven't seen that Mix just yet, but I'd expect I'm gonna see it sooooooon. :)

Cynics always say, all Amuse Inc. is caring about is money, more money, and even more money, but not their artists. But to think they sacrificed one-fourth of the audience capacity of the venue to have this bonkers stage built... Just, so to speak, for the celebration of Suzukas 20th birthday!
P.S.: I watched a live stream some fellow kitsunes did the night before filming the incoming trucks at the venue with all the gear. It were 20 or more trucks IIRC...
Kobametal very well knows the price of everything and I think the price is worth it for a show like this.
And thinks like that they were able to build up the stage for Tokyo Dome in one afternoon and take it down in one night is also insane.
Yes there were two or three people that were streaming on Periscope at the Green arena the night before the show at different times during the evening and wee hours of the morning and they were showing them unloading the trucks in the load in area of the green arena and seeing all the parts for the show come into view before they were taken inside

Here's the thing, I think this show as a whole had the potential to go down in history as one of the most epic concerts ever. Unfortunately, due to the lack of one the essential members of the band it's pretty awkward/bitter show to watch overall. I feel the immense potential was kind of wasted, of course this is just misfortune - it's noones' fault really. And you could see how good it would have been during the Su solo songs (where of course lack of Yui is not relevant), because you could imagine the same quality where all 3 of them would be on the stage. Truely unfortunate.
I can imagine the feeling everyone felt when it was happening. I haven't watched this show just yet, but since I've been going kind of in order and growing with them, I'm sure I'll know better what you are referring to when I see it! Thanks!
