- ☞ 👀 We decided to see what West Virginia had to offer for some adventures. We heard about the under the Bridge Walk over the New River Gorge. What a fun activity to experience. Then we heard about taking some Whitewater Kayak lessons and thought it would be a perfect time to see what all the fun was about.

when it came to to getting wet, Todd whined a LOT, but actually did very well! congrats.
Keep in mind, there are thousands of people who live to do this!That is their reason-d'etre. it is like the thrill of skydiving, the thrill of racing at 150mph. For some it is zip-lining, others the thrill of the bungie jump, and yes the thrill of base-jumping.
I was impressed with the way both of you handled it.

My dad helped build the New River Gorge bridge. I'll never forget the collapse during the build. Hawks Nest lodge has a restaurant that over looks the gorge and has a cam you can take to the bottom. Enjoy, it's as close to heaven you can get while still alive :)

I can only imagine how hard it is to find parks that you guys can fit in. I know we are big with Large Marge and Big Booty Judy and find it difficult to get into some state parks. Well, the bridge was pretty cool! So high and so far though. I would like to do that. As far as the kayak training, nah, not for me! The thought of turning over while being closed up in that kayak and have to figure it out under water. NO WAY! me and water over my head don’t mix. work. What an adventure for you you both and thanks for sharing.
I can feel the pit in my gut just watching you view camera - there was a time I could do this (I did cliff diving at one time🤷🏼♀️) yea - that bridge walk is a no for me!
Look at these waves 😂😂😂 we have friends who kayak off Assateague Island in the ocean…that’s waves! (Best part is when the dolphins come to visit!)

I did the whitewater rafting and we ran the class 3’s to class 5’s and it was an eight hour ride that was great

We were there last week!! We didn’t walk under the bridge but we found Army Camp and parked the RV and then explores the rest of the gorge!! My favorite was Sandstone falls.

We’re staying at Camp Creek State Park in early August. Thanks for this! Something we’ll have to check out! Not the kayaking tho…. The river rafting in Georgia was fun but I’ll pass on this one! We have the Sun Pass Plus which is now accepted all over.

Have been to Bridge Day. Relative sold peanuts. Base jumpers are impressive and some land in the river. We drove down the access road at the south end to the river.

I'm from fairmont wv I wish I knew you were there just to meet you all I'm a full time camper I'm in west Virginia just for all my dr. Visits and I go to Connecticut for a while my daughter and grandkids live there or I go to Alabama where another daughter and grandkids live so I keep pretty busy
Being able to move from family to family makes this a great lifestyle for that option!!

Ssshhhhh don't tell him! It's kinda like boiling a frog - slowly but 5 might be way too strong for me in a kayak - now on a raft with a guide lets do it!!
This was amazing! You did so well, and it looks fun, yet incredibly exhausting! I've made a note of it in my very long list of places I want to go to! Every RV CZcams video I watch, I take notes on my phone of good RV Parks and cool sites and adventures in the area! And this has now made the list!!
We did that walk back in March it was so awesome. We also had to drive the gorge to Indiana and that was equally as awesome.

I have been on that road many many times from OH to Roanoke VA where I am from. I take 64 instead of 81 to get home. Which makes me pass New River Gorge. Never have been. So we are going to make a special RV trip to see it. Miss the mountains so much. Grew up in the surrounding Blue Ridge mtns where the NW Railroad was the hub. It has moved south now. Deana
Wow! I got queasy just watching your video! They BASE jump off the Perrine Bridge here in Twin Falls all summer, I think it’s around 486 feet above the Snake River!
Now that’s a whole different level of adventure- I don’t think I (Sheila) could just jump off something on purpose….pretty sure my brain would freeze up and say um No!

There are some amazing places to see it from the ground though - totally worth a trip!
Yea my wife and I did it during Bridge Day October 2022 even with a hurt back. 120,000 attended that year. People BaseJumped or were catapulted from the top of the bridge some bungee jump from below the bridge.
Wow I can’t imagine 120,000 people in that area. The infrastructure had to be maxed out!

I am amazed at how there is no rust on the bridge. A Michigan bridge would not look like that underneath.
They put a special coating on it - it’s pretty cool cuz it keeps it looking so clean and new
