pmd rider at the rally in Hong Lim Park , got agitated when he talked about the ban on Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs) riding on footpaths in Singapore. PMDs include escooters and unicycles.
He said that he had purchased his escooter on 21 Oct 2019 which he registered with LTA. He then went to sign up with Grabfood but before the processing is done, Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Transport, Lam Pim Min announced on 4 Nov that PMDs will not be allowed on footpaths from 5 Nov.
Noting that his escooter was purchased under a 12 month installment of $110. He asked who is going to pay for the remaining 10 months of installments that he needs to pay.

if govt want to ban it, then ban it. if not then don't set up rules to ban pmd but didn't enforce. Those dare to violate the law benefitted because they could commute with their illegal pmd, while those abide the law lose out. Be very clear with the law.

Most of those who ride PMD do not follow the rules, i still see many riding fast & anywhere they like. Because of that ppl complained and minster has to take action. Another point cars have insurance, while if you are hit with PMD you have to pay from your pocket, the rider will get away with it.

Can totally understand his frustration as his livelihood depended on it. However, there are those who ride recklessly and those black sheep are the ones responsible for the ban, not PAP. Pavements are supposed to be a safe passage but we had to look over our shoulders constantly for those reckless riders. The old lady who died is a family of someone, I wouldn’t want my family members to be in danger on the pavement. I feel for him nonetheless and hope the gov come up with a plan for responsible riders that makes a living with it. Stay safe everyone!

Well said..If there's anybody who's to be blame for the ban of PMD,it's these PMD riders itself..Most of them don't have any kind of safety practise and ride like they own the footpath..And best of all,he took out his frustrations on the government and even mention about GE?Imagine if one of his close family members have an accident with another PMD rider and is seriously injured,i wonder what his reaction will be then?

And the way the government designed the cycling paths; the signs aren't placed way ahead and humps aren't placed way ahead of padestrian crossing. As a pedestrian , you are always fearful when walking on the pavement . Keep checking back to see if there is a escooter coming your way. The licensing is a good step forward. The pavements are so much safer now. Although is tough for the delivery riders to make the change. I can see the majority who are riding a lic PMD are careful.

The government did all these to benefit from monetizing in the rising Food delivery Chain ,Dig deep and you will understand who is behind it. PMD's didn't had a problem ,No proper regulations were made in the first place,, And They were also responsible for not putting up laws to how many food delivery companies should stop hiring for each zone. That is why more accidents and fatalities happen that is due to the over surge of delivery riders in each respected zone. But if they would had taken that action , Then they wouldn't be making a huge income off the gig economy. Uber eats Being European followed its protocol they know flooding the streets with too much riders = Problems. Its been sometime now, And PCN's arent made island wide as of yet. Such a thing which can be useful for Singaporeans can also be damaging to gaining taxes off public transport or Road taxes. The only way to shove this away was to find methods for people to Hate PMD's So they flooded your city islandwide.
