Wir starten unsere musikalische Reise in Amerika. Sie hören das prachtvolle Präludium des amerikanischen Komponisten und Organisten Gordon Young (1919-1998) aus seiner Cathedral Suite. Dieses Stück ist besonders geprägt durch die motivischen 16tel Läufe in den Händen, bevor die Füße im Pedal dieses Motiv aufgreifen. Die Energie der Komposition steigert sich bis zum mächtigen Schlußakkord.
Konrad Schäfer spielt an der Schönefeld-Orgel der Kirche St. Josef in Ilmenau (aufgenommen am 03. Mai 2024).

In this year's organ summer series you will be musically transported to a wide variety of countries and times; including America, England, Germany, France and many more.
We start our musical journey in America. You will hear the magnificent Prelude by the American composer and organist Gordon Young (1919-1998) from his Cathedral Suite. This piece is particularly characterized by the motivic 16th note runs in the hands before the feet in the pedal take up this motif. The energy of the composition increases until the powerful final chord.
Konrad Schäfer plays the Schönefeld organ in the Church of St. Josef in Ilmenau (recorded on May 3rd, 2024).
