this really captures the feeling of a small town at night, most movies don't seem to respect how incredibly silent these places are
Amen
I agree...but you'd think some people would start waking up and coming outside when he crashes the truck.
Some big cities were like that too in certaon areas back in the 70's. I think this movie was set in late 70's if I'm not mistaken.
@@WALDENSOFTWARE 1980
@@SinsBird ah, ok.
The absence of dramatic music makes this movie so much more suspenseful and raw
Good point.
Definitely, it makes it much more realistic, being out in the streets in the middle of the night, scared.
As does the absence of common sense
@@CMRinehart pertaining to The elaborate stashing of the fucking money in the fucking ductwork and not blowing fucking town you hipster ASSHOLE!
Hahaha!
You know a movie is good when you don't even need music to set an atmosphere.
I disagree, but see your point to this film
Plot twist: Their budget wasn't large enough to include music.
@@ramdor4 ...what do you disagree even, and why do you think he cares?
The same with Blood Simple, no music there either.
Not true in porn
The fact that Llewelyn shuts the car door as silently as possible to try and trick Anton into thinking he's still in the truck is just amazing attention to detail and shows you exactly how experienced he is
I love how you can see that Llewellyn is a combat vet. He knows how to fight, how to keep yourself in check and how to stay on top. Fantastic movie.
It gives you hope.
The only discrepancy is the fact that he waited by sitting on the bed directly in front of the doorway (which could be easily shot through by both parties). Also a combat vet would know to take advantage of the fact that Anton basically doesn’t know where in the room he is waiting, being in a totally unlit room with plenty of cover and obscure spaces. If Llewellyn was a bit more tactical the movie would have ended right here.
@@vegasboy5931 Yeah in the book he actually gets Anton in that scene, but since he isnt yet in full fight or die mode he just takes his shotgun, and leaves him, but he doesnt for some reason check other weapon from him, and Anton shoots him few times from the hotel balcony as he flees with silenced pistol. I think he simply left the shower running, and was waiting in the dark, and as Anton was sneaking to the bathroom he got him, but unfortunately didnt just blast him with shotgun.
@@vegasboy5931 He definitely made lots of dumb decisions. He was probably Air Force.
He gave it his all, and had a good run.

For this scene?
It would be odd if they won them on separate occasions, don't you think?
Lol titanic and LOTR return of the king won 11 oscars in one night.
I love how you don't even have to see the hotel clerk lying lifeless to know he's a dead man. The spilled bowl of cats milk and utter silence tell you everything you need to know.
А в книге, как раз, говорилось о том, что Чигур убил его.

So unexepected and just downright terrifying.
It's really scary seeing the sillouhette
The Bourne series did this well.
This scene is an absolute 11/10. It raises the stakes and the suspense is everywhere, I dare to say it’s more suspenseful than the coin toss.
His aim with that tec is serious!
Yeah, he had a bet with the other guy that he could shoot everything but his assailant :D
What a true marksman!
Is a tec9 used for this scene?
Wasn't his assailant a Vietnam vet always on guard and being moving target? That would make sense.
it's a silenced mp9
Easily hands down one of the best shoot out scenes in all of cinema. I love how we all agree without music makes it more intense, real, and intriguing
No music needed.
It's absolute crime Nick Nolte wasn't in this movie, especially considering his role in extreme prejudice.
How hard can it be to run from a guy who has to lug a giant air tank around with him?
🤣
only 20 lbs
Lmao
Not giant
You'll find out soon enough... he's coming for you... 👩🏝️
Anton was literally the terminator here. A relentless force of nature. the fact that brolin’s character didn’t even see him makes it all the more terrifying
But he did get a shot off and managed to injure anton, even a monster can bleed
whats so terrifying about Javier's character, he has this expressionless emotion when he kills. when he does he really make you question you're own safety.
@Kilo Byte fuck off grammar nazi
Javier's expressionless emotions suggest that he has no conscience, empty, as cold blooded as it gets.
Like Michael Myers
“I ain’t gonna hurtcha, but my actions will inadvertently get multiple people killed during this movie.”
He's not a hero. He's not even the protagonist. He's what a movie lead would be like in real life.
I was biting my nails throughout this scene..... The scene before this when he realises someone is outside... Those 2 minutes or whatever I just couldn't breathe through that tension. They should've uploaded that part as well
What a great scene! I think I've watched that 20 times and never tire of it.
i cant stop talking in bardems voice even in the simplest conversation with someone
Hats off for the Cohen bros ! What an iconic movie ! Sooo many years after seeing it at a theater, I still gets me goose bumps !
I have read the book twice and I have just listened to the audio book of the film, totally mesmerising. so much more in the audio book than in the film and its brilliant to listen to rather than having to read. This novel should be up there with the classics, Cormac McCarthys use of dialogue and descriptions of everyday items is superb. And its great to see the Hollywood narrative broken, the bad guy gets away, Moss is killed off screen and even Carla Jean is killed even though she did nothing wrong.. The scene in the gas station is priceless
RIP Cormac
I never get bored of watching scenes from this movie! Classic acting from Javier Bardem...
arguably the greatest movie of all time

Basically eternal child, Right Mox?
I don't think this is about Cat and Mouse. Llewellyn here not only managed to escape Anton, but actually came a lot closer to killing Chigurh than Chigurh himself to killing Moss. Yes, the one trying to escape is Moss, but you can't deny he can defend himself like another cat, more than a mouse.
The the prey is also armed the predator goes hungry.
Tom and Jerry. If Tom was a psychopath and Jerry was a grizzled war vet anyhow.
I feel like that no music with the movie makes it 100 times more suspenseful and has me on the edge of my seat
This is such a badass movie. I've seen it a few times, and keep rooting for Lewellen Moss, even though I know the outcome....
Forest Gump as the Moss character..."anton was like the VC...and Lt Gary Sienese...Tom Hanks...should have cast him in the Woody Harrelson role... bye Gump...bye Wilson...bye Fed Ex...throw any shit up on the screen and win 3 Oscars... lol

Old movies have more intense because no internet , no mobile phone , no Hi-tech gadgets. It gave everyone an equal opportunity to chase , escape or plan. No one can easily guess what will happen or face in advance.
I really appreciate how the truck's tires don't screech when it stops at 1:45, nothing overdone here
These days it would be a scene where smoke piles up under the car and tires, screeching backwards, then forwards, and doing a donut. Just to amuse the easily entertained.
How can a movie be so fucking good?
People: Nobody makes any good movies anymore.
Cohen Bros. : Hold our beers.

One of the finest movies I have seen.
That was super smart move to act like you crashed and lay and wait for Anton. Anton played right into the trap
But look at those reflexes
Okay I am off to see this movie once again.
Coen Brothers are amazing , i really love that movie.
One of the best movies ever made
Even though Llewellyn got a more serious wound than Anton, he still literally won the confrontation. He outmanoeuvred and outsmarted Anton at the end and forced him to run away, after injuring him.
Considering Anton is the closest thing to a human terminator, this scene shows you just how experienced and skilled Moss really is. If he hadn't been gunned down by cartel, what a final showdown we'd have.
First time I saw this movie didn’t even realize there was no music that’s how good it was
abel doe .....I know me too, learned no music in it from reading comments on other vids of this movie.this movie is that good and keeps you on your toes.
you left out the scene when Moss shoots him in the leg... -.-
Sam Fisher in the book this scene is soooo much better like they actually interact and it's terrifying
You killed Moss already.
@Charles Martel Speaking of which, Chigurh's ghost personality is reminiscent to that of the Viet Cong.

master piece and above
I think Chigurh felt a twinge of regret that he wasn't the one to kill Moss
didn't he claim/predict that Moss would bring the money to him & lay it at his feet?
I think this movie is really about two truly driven men, & the randomness of life intruding on their intentions.
I haven't watched the movie in 2 years so I forgot who killed moss
@@f1ah Mexicans
@@f1ah the stupid step mother
@@timewa851 Man I really love how you put it in the last sentence
The soundtrack for this movie is amazing
This scene is like a sabre duel. Chigurh outsmarts him every step of the way. Turns the lights off in the hallway so he doesn't see his shadow, hits him with the lock but doesn't get hit with return fire, waits for him to run out through the backdoor instead of chasing him down the stairs like Llewelyn expects, doesn't follow him behind the corner as he expects, instead going out the hotel entrance. Only in the end Chigurh gets complacent and gets outflanked.
Best scene of the movie, but it's cut off early!!
Very unique movie. So quiet and potentially real.
Best movie from the 2000's.

No Country For Old Men is a modern day masterpiece.
My favorite scene
"Don't worry I ain't gonna hurcha"
Forgot to mention sb else definitely will though
When I first saw this scene I was absolutely terrified. The only issue with this scene I could think of now that I've rewatched it is how Anton got from the 2nd floor window alley to in front of the truck that fast down the street.
He wasn't in front of the truck, he was behind it.
I absolutely fucking love this movie. I would just randomly like to point out that Anton is definitely shooting slugs in this scene.
Oh yeah, that would make sense(also considering he didn't obliterate his side). Then again, I'm not sure if a flechette would do that damage to that Mexican gangster's hand in the motel, but maybe he loads both :P
@Uhhh More like 50. Either way, it sure as shit wasn't buckshot. Maybe flechette.
@@s3dchr I always figured that Chigurh had shot loaded in the hotel, since it was going to be a close range attack, but once Moss escaped into the open streets + Chigurh lost the element of surprise, he loaded slugs and planned on taking Moss out from a distance
Also, look at the holes in the truck's windshield (and the driver's head). No way that's shot
He uses the shotgun initially when he first shoots at moss in the hotel room as he's climbing out the window. Every shot after that he used the tec-9, those single shots and holes in the windshield were definitely not from a shotgun.
Its pretty obvious because when Chigurh approaches the truck after Moss crashes it, he's only seen holding the pistol.
He was using a Tec9 for these scenes. No shotgun.
This whole scene is elite.
Anton knew exactly what he was facing. He had plenty of time to plan and prepare. Llewelyn did not know who or how many he was up against. As the battle ensued, he slowly realized it was one man and decided to take a stand at the crash site. Nearly got him too.
Llewelyn definitely gave Anton a run for his money compared to anyone else.
He could have just driven away, but he wanted to stop Anton so he faked the crash knowing it would bait Anton out of cover. That was a very clever move
Anton’s sole purpose is to take lives. He meticulously prepares for his encounters. The fact that Brolin having a disadvantage and manages to injure Anton showcases his superiority.
@733Rafael Does anyone actually expect there to be a tracker?
@@plops993 but why not just drive away?
This movie was awesome af
I love how he still close the car door lol
Anton is a damn good shot with that little 9mm of his. Scary stuff
scary scene! Legendary
This was very sureal. No suspenseful music and no CGI effects.
Better than most horror movies
It’s like Chicago don’t know where the bullets are comin from 🤣🤣
Llewelyn with a great Warzone tactic going back into the front door after avoiding shots upstairs, low key
I like how Chigurh misses his shot from the window. It shows that while he is a killing machine with zero empathy or humanity, he's not a Mary Sue, he's not good at everything. Longer range shooting is not his specialty, his skills lie in infiltrating and stealth, getting close to his targets. He's not a sniper.
He technically didn't miss, he hit Moss in the right side of his lower abdomen
That was from the door lock hitting him after Chigurh hit it with the cattle gun, you see him wince when it happens.
@@zacharyanderson3791 No , if you look closely , theres no blood when hes escaping the hotel. Moss didnt start bleeding until anton shot out from the window
I find it amazing that Anton had slugs to seamlessly switch too on the fly for longer range shots.
The impact on the ground in the alley as moss runs is definitely buckshot
No, anton was using a tec during this scene.
True classic
I believe Moss intentionally crashes the truck and closes the door behind him to make it seem like he got hit and is still in the vehicle.
Showing an actual cat in the cat and mouse scene. Nice.
I always wondered what Chugur was thinking dealing with Moss...there most of been some grudging respect.
I like how they never really show the gunman. And just focuses oh his escape (only his point of view)
When Chuck Norris goes to bed he always checks under the bed to make sure Anton Chigurh ain’t there 😱
chilling
Anyone else notice the 1897 Winchester?
That chigurh air weapon is just vicious man
I always though Anton hit moss at :17 when he’s jumping out the window. But he actually gets him at :46 when he’s running away. The bullet goes right through him and still has enough velocity to ricochet. Such a cool scene
He wasn't hit by a bullet, it was the door lock cylinder that hit him.
kwb377 He’s bleeding from his side. The lock hit him in the chest
It's been years since I watched this movie and I still curse Moss for carrying the jug of water back to the massacre site.. why couldn't he stay at home. Goddamn him.. and save the audience from the shivers inflicted by Anton
Dame at this point just give him the money shittt!!!!!!!!
