- In a recent unexpected development, Burkina Faso has taken a bold step forward in language education by launching a groundbreaking TV show dedicated to learning English and Chinese. This innovative initiative has captured the attention of residents across the nation, sparking widespread interest and optimism about the prospects of acquiring these languages.
As a predominantly French-speaking country, the introduction of English and Chinese languages represents a significant departure from the linguistic norms of Burkina Faso. However, rather than viewing this as a challenge, many residents see it as an exciting opportunity to expand their horizons and enhance their skills in languages that hold immense global significance.
The decision to focus on English and Chinese reflects Burkina Faso's recognition of the importance of linguistic diversity in today's interconnected world. English, as the lingua franca of international business, diplomacy, and academia, offers access to a wealth of economic opportunities and facilitates communication on a global scale. Similarly, the growing influence of China in the global arena makes proficiency in Mandarin Chinese an invaluable asset for individuals seeking to engage with one of the world's largest economies.
Residents of Burkina Faso are expressing their enthusiasm for the new TV show, recognizing the potential benefits it could bring to their personal and professional lives. By mastering English and Chinese, they hope to not only improve their employability but also foster stronger relationships with partners and stakeholders both domestically and internationally.
The decision to broadcast English and Chinese language learning programs on national free-to-air television in Burkina Faso marks a significant step forward in promoting linguistic diversity and accessibility to education. This move carries profound implications, particularly for a broader audience that may not have had previous access to language training due to financial constraints or other limitations.
By making English and Chinese language instruction available on free-to-air television, Burkina Faso is democratizing access to language education. This means that individuals from all socio-economic backgrounds, including those who may not be able to afford traditional language courses or materials, now have the opportunity to learn these valuable languages from the comfort of their own homes.

President Capt. Ibrahim Traore is a genius and all his advisors must be recommended for the further developments of the World🙏🏾🌍👏🏾 This is how you proceed on a mission to save your people and help them grow; intelligent, healthy, and God fearing🙏🏾🌍💪🏾
Universal language across Africa should be Swahili and English.
Why Swahili? Swahili is a culmination of Arab and other African languages. Why not pidgin English?
@@yawos9024 Because most African nations ate familiar with it.
@@mzfbados1294 I am an Asante. Who told you my language has any similarity with those of the Bantus? Don't make up stuff. Swahili has Islamic influence in its etymology. It will be just another foreign language.
@@yawos9024 I said what I said, take it or leave it alone. Peace.
@@mzfbados1294 You have a right to your opinion, but not to the truth.
The way Burkina Faso is going, as an Anglophone I will like to visit them someday...
welcome to Burkina faso
@@ibnuseena5253 Thank you 👍🏿, appreciate it...
You guys are stupid.
This is great news! Then they will be able to speak to more of their brothers and sisters from English speaking countries on the continent and around the world. I’m excited for them. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
We african need to also promote one african language that we can all speak to unite ourselves. Like swahili
You are on the same wavelength as what I was thinking because all African countries should be able to speak Swahili in order to unite the continent
I speak 6 languages, I speak Yoruba, Hausa, Swahilli, English, Dutch, and Flamish. Now, I am trying to learn Chinese.
Where you learnt all that ??
@1wandol I live in Holland for 16 years, Yoruba is my mother tongue, I grew up Speaking Hausa in Northern Nigeria., I marry a Tanzanian, and she speak to me in Swahilli. I live all together 32 years in both Holland and US. I have very Interesting life.
Your clever 😊
Marsallha allhamdulila ❤
Teaching your brothers and sisters ALLHA WILL reward you by Teaching ❤ marsallha
It GOOD idea to learn English since it the most widely spoken language in the WORLD. However, an indigenous language such as SWAHILI IS A MUST FOR AFRICAN UNITY AND SELF IDENTITY
I Absolutely Love the Bold Moves Of Burkina Faso and the Wonderful President Ibrahim Traore'!!!
We most PRAY and CONSOLIDATE our collective SPIRITUAL, MENTAL,and PHYSICAL energy for Burkina Faso Success!!!
Her success is Africa's success!!!
Am from ghana 🇬🇭, good way to go,Eglish goes further than french.
And Chinese?
@@angelasudi710No it not. What percentage of you will travel outside the country. Cherish your own
@@know3976nothing wrong with learning other languages, way should they only stick to French
@@know3976 unfortunately African languages are not a global language yet, learn the languages of the people and systems you will dealing/trading with, they should learn Spanish, Russian, any languages that will give them an advantage.
@@RebelLeader-kx3hq And who will make African language global?
Great initiative by the Burkinafaso Gorernment. One of the best thing a Country can do is to Educate it's people.
I love captain traore so much
This opens a lot of opportunities. Thanks, Traore.
I'm a kidnapped Afrikan from America and I'm looking forward to visiting one of my first revolutionary countries in Afrika. I will be hiring me someone there, Burkina Faso, to be my interpreters. Because, I am coming. ❤️🖤💚💯✊🏿
Well done BK!
I am so very happy for Burkina Faso's people. I hope to one day be able to travel there and see how far they have come. Seems to be happing at an incredibly fast speed. I truly hope they succeed to where other African countries begin to model what they do. Learn from what they do. And I hope Burkina Faso reaches back to help others who truly want to develop and come up as well. There is so much hope for Burkina Faso. And so much hope for Africa.
That is very good news I also speak 6 languages. Viva Burkina Faso. Vivaa Ibrahim Traore! ASE!
Great reporting! 👍🏿❤️
Yes, yes, they need to learn an English, Chinese and Russian language.
What are your thoughts on the Russian and Chinese learning an African language?
Yes, yes, It would be a good idea, so it would be more to communicate from each other's people to people, not to mention that it will be easier when it comes to trade. @@dedidinah305
Yes, russian language was created by afro russian poet Pushkin so russian language is rooted with africa.
With kiswahili also . maybe 6 languages with 9 science and technology study's
@@AlexWorld4 Interesting, hood to know for future references🗣🎤
Great move by Burkina Faso. Thanks for sharing
This is wonderful news and so vital ! USA
Good move in the right direction 👍
HONORABLE PRESIDENT Mr. IBRAHIM TRAORE IS AN EXCEPTIONAL CHARACTER TO BE PROUD OF BY EVERYONE. ALL THE GODS OF THE WORLD WILL CONTINUE TO GUIDE AND ASSISTE HIM FOR HIS PEOPLE AND COUNTRY. BY THE WAY, Teaching any languages, PLEASE GIVE IMPORTANCE TO PRONUNCIATION FROM THE START. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. AppA 13.3.2024
Très bonne initiative. L’AES avance sur plusieurs fronts en même temps.
That's good to learn English language.Chinese and kiswahili.
I like this initiative.
Very smart
I speaking 7 language Somalian, Kiswahili, English, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Spanish, And I'm learning Arabic's as the 8 languages
Seeing Burkinos speak English shows how related African Americans are in so many ways, as if time and distance disappears. I can't wait to visit their historic sites as a tourist.
It should be Swahili and English as a second language. The entire Africa should practice these two languages.
I agree; because in America, it’s English mainly, and Spanish because of Mexico immigrating. Knowing that Swahili would be the main language in Africa, I could concentrate learning on this one language🌍
Oh this is so wonderful because English is the leading language in connecting the world. Countries like Rwanda embraced English and ignored French and this has enabled it to connect to many Countries hence leading to development.
I agree with learning English it will bring the Diaspora closer.
That is wrong !!!
To learn many language it good
Excellent Move.
Almighty God never said that your future belongs to Democracy or America your future is yours my brothers and sisters and what you decide to do with it develop your future and your country.
Its will help to relate with other AFRICANs like Nigeria and many Africans language's
Hakeem Olajuwon who played basketball for the Houston Rockets who win championships with the Houston Rockets who is from Nigeria, if I'm not he spoke 16 different language fluently. He was the greatest basketball center ever Hakeem Olajuwon, and he was a Muslim❤
Being a Muslim is and was irrelevant to basketball. Furthermore, he was not the greatest center ever. Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul Jabber are all regarded to be better than Hakeem. You also have to throw Sharquille Oneal in there.
Burkina good neighbour Ghana can join hands for English ✋.
That is hell.
I love this
This is a good move
They are already proficient in English
I think these two languages are important
Plus it's a great idea, to know what others are saying in your land. Thereby keeping eyes on those that want to harm.
Kudos to Burkina, that's what happpened in Rwanda and years later it's going well after ditching French, although, i don't know about Chinese
Great idea
OMG...GOOD
Nice pic proudly to this experience Africa need many Traoré captain a model of development proudly from Senegal ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
But we as African should also chose an African language like Swahili to communicate also
for what purpose should swahili be to us west Africans
The most developed and Advanced nations speak one primary language it is time for Africa to take this approach because the diversity in languages creates too many communication and cultural differences which keeps Africa from uniting
Love yall
Very good for Burkina Faso!! That is how they will emancipate themself from Mental Slavery from France and the France Language. Englisch is World Spoken Language but they Need a National African Language to feel as a proud Burkina bay.
Great changes include Swahili too, to spice up things.
This acts unique walai
✨GREAT JOB PRESIDENT IBRAHIM TRAORE!✨PRAISE GOD!🙌🏾
IF SOMEONE ASK ME, HOW ARE YOU ?
MY RESPONSE WILL BE:
I AM WELL OR I’M WELL.
On ne peut plus suivre les vidéos, dommage, traduction SVP merci beaucoup
Wonderful! Most Americans can only speak one language.
smart move
Look, I know many people in Burkina Faso hate France so much, but I hope the French language in the country won’t go away or fade into obscurity
For now We need English and Chinese for faster technological and scientific development! That is exactly what china did with the English language! Russia will certainly become one of our biggest partners but with only English we can easily acquire technological expertise from our 2 biggest partners(china & Russia)
No all your technical books and science books should be translated in your own native language first before you learn to speak another language so that you keep your language alive.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
In fact they are trying with time they will master the English language
They should partner with Ghana to send them teachers to teach them english
Yea anglohphine and then the main langaue should be the major groil of burkinabe
Add SWAHILI to unify the continent. Set the example for the other countries to follow.
You guys are crazy
Please learn Kiswahili of East Africa
Globalization gradually for filling small
Good step, however I would prefer they introduced Swahili as well to communicate with east and southern Africa which are.majority English speaking boost the emergence of an African language in the continent rather than Chinese
Your right but why not get the ministry of education to have your technical and science books be translated into your own language which would help to maintain and keep your language alive then learn to speak one of these European or foreign languages? Just a thought 💭
What about swahili language
Swahili is good to learn but is not an international language. This is no time for sentiment, besides nothing stops anyone from learning as many languages as possible.
Do I understand Swahili was derived from arabic?
You are right that’s what I have been thinking all along. Learn Swahili and get your ministry of education to have all your technical and science books translated into Swahili or any other African language in Oder to maintain your language and prevent it from dying out. After that you can learn a European language or Chinese and Russian languages if you wish.
Learning other African and Foreign Languages are positive moves and the right way forward for Burkina Faso. The day the children of Mother Africa in the Motherland and in the Diaspora stop speaking the French Language, the language will go extinct. France imposed its French language on all its colonies in Africa, the Caribbean, West Indies, etc., whose populations are overwhelmingly Black. France writes and publishes all the books which are used from nursery to university education, and including all the professional educational institutions in all its colonies to this very day. France sells these educational books to it’s colonies at hefty prices. France colonialism of the educational system of it’s colonies in Africa and other parts of the world, must stop.
What about Swahili?
What are the Burkina Faso indeginous languages.
Best idea could have been to ask his countrymen to learn swahili. Changing one. colonial language to another. He should have followed the example of Nyerere
Your on the ball learn Swahili first in all African countries and get the ministry of Education to get your technical and science books translated into Swahili or an African language in order to preserve your language and prevent it from dying out. After that you can choose one of those European languages or Russian or Chinese if you wish that way you will get the best of both.
To truly unify and economically empower Black people throughout Africa and the diaspora, there need to be mandatory instruction in the three languages below in all schools throughout Africa and the independently owned Black schools throughout the diaspora;
1. Swahili
2. English
3. Spanish
And a fourth language as an elective. Chinese may be selected by the student as an elective or another African language!
Note, most of the African's in the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade was dispersed to South America!
After South America, then the slaves were transported to the United States.
So, there are millions of Black people who already speak Spanish and English!
Then, to communicate with the brothers and sisters in Africa, Swahili and English can be used but also another African language could be used as well.
BUT, TO TRULY UNIFY, WE MUST BE CONNECTED TO GOD ON A PERSONAL LEVEL AND BE HOLY, OBEY ALL OF GOD'S COMMANDMENTS AND HAVE A COMMON PURPOSE, MISSION AND A VISION!
What about Russian? Putin & Wagner mercenaries will be very unhappy about this action by Ibrahim Toure!
French is a cool language just like English
I hope they dont lose the language of their ancestors. English might be widely spoken throughout the world, but imagine how boring the world would be if we all spoke nothing but English 🥱
2:41 China 🇨🇳 doesn’t have the largest population in the world it is in fact India 🇮🇳
But China is closer to being a world superpower, so learning Chinese is helpful.
What about Shwali that needed to help unite the continent
We don't need a language to unite though. We need to do business with each other (like the EU).
We should learn African languages rather than the foreign ones
The more you learn, the better off you are in this world. People who can speak more than one language are often the more intelligent people.
Good move. English language is good for international cooperation and trade
English is good. French makes France think Africa is still its colony
When will an African prioritize on his own language?
The most important thing is that the people of Burkina Faso speak one language and it should be Mossi.
They should know their language first before been allowed to learn foreign language
Why not Kiswahili as an Alternative African language?
Yes your right but your educators should get all your technical and science books translated into Swahili or any of the main African languages in order to maintain these languages and prevent them from dying out. After that you can learn a European or one of those Russian or Chinese languages if you wish.
You're not independent until you drop CFA
Shahilli is A Africans National Language please. Let’s start with Swahili before any other colonial languages please
😂😂😂😂😂 oh my God.Hahahahahaha😅
Swahili Swahili Swahili
😂😂🎉
Teach your own language....
A bad idea and he should add swahili too
He should add swahili, but that doesn't make it a bad idea. The more you know, the faster you grow.
Current new leader of Burkina Faso, the English plus the French our colonial masters, kicking the French and now letting your youth to speak English,am sorry,am from ghana and we speak English same like Nigeria, what have those 2 countries achieved,is better encourage your people to speak the native language or to speak Russian or Chinese.
