- Movie Class by PizzaFLIX: Alex Nicol produced, directed, and starred in this lost War Mystery gem. Nicol was discovered in 1950 by Universal director George Sherman, who cast him in his film THE SLEEPING CITY. After the filming Red Ball Express (1952), Nicol went to the Universal front office and asked to be released from his contract. Ironically, he returned frequently to film at Universal at a much larger fee than he was getting as a contract player.
Stars: Alex Nicol, Barry Cahill, Frank Latimore
Director: Alex Nicol
When an American attack on the German-held town of San Corrado results in the Germans being forced out of the town, they don't have time to take along a top Italian partisan leader they have captured and imprisoned. Fearing that the Americans will turn the man loose to organize more partisan attacks on their forces, the Germans send one of their top agents to infiltrate the town, posing as an American soldier cut off from his unit, and assign him to re-capture the partisan leader and bring him back for interrogation--or, if that's not possible, to kill him. Also known as Three Came Back - Krátké a kreslené filmy
My Father was in Italy during the siege of Monte Cassino.in ‘44. He got caught away from his weapon by German Paratrooper with a Schmeisser smg. They looked at each other for a moment then the German, who had him cold, backed into the bush he had come from without killing him. His life would be spared again later when shipped to the Philippines to stage for the Invasion of Japan. He was to be in the third wave of the invasion of Honshu. The A Bomb dropped over Nagasaki saved him from that particular death horror..
I totally enjoyed the movie. One thing that stood out was when an actor made a mistake, like the German Sgt. accidentally knocking something off the table, the director did not yell cut and do the scene over, the Sgt. just bent over and picked it up. One of the GI's flubbed a line but just kept going.
This movie had a lot more realism then most films.
One of my favorite movies is Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None", which is why this caught my attention, I enjoyed it, similar in many ways, good cast, good story line ... thanks for the upload "Pizzaflix" you do not disappoint ...
How is this not more popular? The script is excellent.
There's some excellent footage I've never seen before.
That tortoise, if it found a good home, could be middle aged by now, and could easily go on to outlive all of us watching today ☺
A gem indeed! Thanks. :)
HORNET'S NEST
Fantastic war movie!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The batteries shown for the transmitter were not developed until many years after the war.
Enjoyed it a lot. They even took a page from Stalag 17 at the end.
I do enjoy the good army programs on CZcams channel thank you for all good
Absolute Classic! Thanks ☺ (you have a new subscriber)
This film reminds me of Combat TV series, which is on CZcams as well. Thanks
cool movie pizza flix thanks alot man
Great story that I had not seen before !
I doubt that soldiers sit down during all the shooting around them and talk at length about their life experiences as we see in many movies of this kind. Also, GIs were mostly young guys in their twenties and not in forties.
A WWII combat film noir. Kept me guessing until the end!
Good job weaving authentic war footage with the movie.
This is an interesting flick. Certainly not 'run of the mill'.
I think German soldiers that were trained to act like Americans were called ,"Supermen"...
The Great Voice, Paul Frees, does the narration!
That krout's bullet wounds at the end were unconvincing.
Kraut.
love you all.always a laugh on here.gotta love it.
Fell into pizza flix again AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!
Thanks for watching! May the Sauce be with you.
Interesting movie.
The Germans had some excellent commandos. Otto Skorzeny pulled off the coup of the century when he rescued , unharmed Il Duce from the mountain top jaial he was held in. He was quite a guy He also organized the units that spoke english, like Americans, and messed up signs and got everybody all screwed up. You gotta hand it to them. Devious.
Like this.
Okay, stopped at 52:50 for this comment.First time I've seen this one. While it's not Paul Newman quality,it's still a universe beyond Plan 9 (but even Capt. Kangaroo was) Script and story didn't bother me either. The weapons:interesting, '03 Springfields without front sights, obviously de-scoped snipers, and a mixture of 1928 and M-1 Thompsons. The lone German shooter captured in the bombed out building was using a 98K Mauser,so that's correct, the rest at distances and moving,so I can't say for sure, but haven't seen it all yet. This was filmed in Italy,so the weapons choices could have been slim or mucho, depending on where the WWII surplus was stored at that time. All things considered,I'm not having a bad time watching this....A couple of the previous commenters are just rude, vulgar know-it-alls and we don't hear them. Poop on you,you rude kiniggitts!,I fart in your general direction!
+Gary Williams Also, those 1903 Springfield rifles are equipped with British Lee Enfield slings, highly unlikely.
Gary Williams
who cares only autism challenged kids would care
I don't recall any preamble suggesting this was a documentary. So....that being said....I will simply seek to be entertained. After all....it is I think, only offered as such.
No one noticed the holy hand grenade!
gary Williams - then why in the hell did you watch it? It is a movie, not a damn history lesson.
Nels Olsen from Little House on the Prarie. Yeh Richard Bull!
it's a movie...not a documentary!
Gut film.
1960 actually...
The tracking device took a 9 volt battery that had to be changed every day. The 9 volt battery was first sold in 1956.
Another feather in the Narrator's Cap of the immortal Paul Frees!
I don't understand the Italian girl, the guy that came to see her in the middle of the night spoke German to her but, she tells T I an American paid her a visit.
Got to love nerds of war
Nice
Oooops..I was wrong they are M1903 rifles..
nothing like a bolt action 03 with out a front sight ..yes sir
Roy Rodriguez mmmm
The superior acting shines through
The fighting in Italy was terrible!
The very first background in the movie before the title comes on, reminds me of the map from the intro to Bonanza!!!!!!!
After five years, I finally have arrived to say, yes, I know of the map of the Ponderosa area within Nevada in the show. And then the boys and Pa would ride up, first with Pernel Roberts as Adam, followed by David Canary as Candy. I was a Bonanza addict as a kid, then later in the 90's I taped a shit load with a VCR. I have seen them all. But this is bout Then there were three..... bk
👌👌👌🇬🇷ORIGINAL
The Sargent stripes are bootleg were they were like that; like chalk on the arm?
2 Stars
Peace
Good war movie with the perfect last words for the end of a movie; That lousy Kraut forgot to pay me for the drinks.
Any movie with Sid Clute has to be good.
+Lockbar Is that you Sid?
9 volt batteries weren't available until 1956. And he was supposed to change them every day.
Adore films guerre MAIS suis déçu de ne pas comprendre anglais et qu'il n'y en a PAS ! Des sous-titres français ?
Ive seen 30 minutes and its been all talk, BOORING.
It looks attractive. acidic snow What do you think...
I've heard of spaghetti western but this is a spaghetti war movie.
Spaghetti with meat sauce - GOOD, Spaghetti with Westerns or War - BAD. lol
The movie wasn't too bad but the French guy at the end couldn't act if his life depended on it
ok well I'm at 1:07 and I'm gonna have to watch this because of the very different comments, I cant imagine this being that bad....
"over and out" is not proper radio procedure.
'Over and out " is or was used by many countries 75 years ago .... during ww2
I have not commented ????
Enough oboe and clarinet in this score to be "Peter and the Wolf".
Love you Hollywood 😋
Good casting, WW2 lingo and village combat type scenes, but those mortar explosions, UGH!!!!
both the Lt. and the Sgt. don't have front sight blades on their rifles. Makes for tough aiming.
They are born killers they don't need no frickin' sights.
sniper version with no scope
The battery at 5:54 wasn't invented until 1956 by the Everyready corp.
+mrblowhard2u
Poetic License
good eye mrblowhard!
Hollywood bullshit.
mrblowhard2
Just enjoy the cheeze
replying to the 3 year old comment, are you talking about the 9 volt battery? haha thats pretty funny
The '03 Springfield rifle? The prop department must have been particularly deficient.
The 03s were produced and used throughout world war 2
For all you armchair generals out there: Not all GIs carried M-1s...many carried the '03 all the way through to the end of the war...WW2 wasn't won by the Soviets alone...a number of U.S. divisions (1st Armored, 3rd, 9th,10th, 34th, 36th, 45th, 88th, 91st, 92nd Infantry, 82nd Airborne) fought in Sicily and Italy...many allied troops in Europe were supplied with U.S.-made arms and equipment...several allied air forces, including the RAF, flew U.S.-made aircraft, while several allied navies sailed in U.S.-made ships.
5:54 The device was powered by those 9 volt batteries. Those 9 volt batteries weren't invented until 1956 by Eveready Co way after WW2.
Nice catch
Have you ever seen a film called flushed away ?
Why's the one GI armed with a Springfield 1903A4 that's missing its scope? Oh, prop guy....!
Enjoy the movie and don't think about the small things
👏👏👏👏
WHAT A SHOCKER, can a movie get any worse
Thank goodness For the Mericans otherwise the other countries may have had to fight the mean Germans
An average war flick with the US playing the good guys. However, a real German sniper would not be so easily spotted popping in and out of a building window and repeat firing. Looked more like a lone infantry grunt lost, left behind, or gone nuts at short range.
I know it was the German in a US uniform with the knife! I win cluedo.
Err, not necessarily. Soldiers, and not just Americans, were known to use captured enemy equipment, either because of necessity or because of personal preference, but woe if they got captured with it.
Zippo lighter....made in Bradford PA
Dmarie Cherry not zippo ronson lighters had round corners almost oval
ROTFL! The first 9V battery (known as the PP3...Power Pack 3) was
made by the US/Britsh, Ever Ready Company in 1956. Just FYI.
This movie came out in 1960, so the 9V battery was only a few years
old at the time and not widely known.
OH YES IT WAS IT POWERED THE EARLY TRANSISTOR RADIOS!
Ever teenager wanted one!
@@lordeden2732
When the first transistor radios
hit the retail market, they were
so expensive, not many could
afford them. It wasn't until the mid
1960's that the price dropped and
the radios became super popular.
I even bought a few myself back then.
I hate to spoil things but Germany Loses.
+Unca John Fields
DAMN!
That's what they get for not buying their drinks 1:20:58
What? You're kidding?!?!
TI...knifed in the back while doing the Italiana's laundry.
Lousy Kraut...he forgot to pay me for those drinks!.Mieses Kruat...er hat vergessen fur mich Getrunken zu bezalen.
Pas en français !!! J'y comprend RIENS aux dialogues ???🤔😓
The front sights must have fallen of their rifles 🙂
Then there were 3
American soldiers carrying German Mauser K98K rifles?I guess no M1s but they have Thompsons and no mag pouches for them too.
Les hommes dun même camp sont capables de s'entretuer face à un ennemi commun...
There are "A" movies and "B" movies. This one did not get a letter.
There are no letters below 'Z', sadly.
Well, I thought this was a really good film. It kept me guessing right till the end. Artistic licence granted but in the main the story line and the acting were good. Thank you
I watched
Too bad they couldn't get Leo Gorcey for the lead.
+Mark Rubin Since you mentioned Leo Gorcy I have to share a little story about him. Sometime in the early 1960s, my dad went to the market and was surprised to see Leo Gorcy in line ahead of him with a big bottle of whiskey. My dad greeted him by name, asked how he was doing, etc. My dad said it was obvious Leo had been already drinking, and he seemed as if he was trying to remember my dad; but the two had never met before. Anyway, my dad said they had a very nice, friendly chat after they checked out, shook hands and parted ways.
+Mike Kennedy Sorry, Leo GORCEY.
Damn they might want to spread out some time.
duke harris
Then someone wouldn't be in the frame silly.
Very poor film quality for 1961. This could otherwise been a well known war film.
Cứ sem thôi chứ biết họ nói j dau
i really want to know, just what exactly is the plot ??? they gave him a transmitter to be able to locate him !!!! to what end ?? what is he supposed to be doing ??? infiltrate a small rifle company, ok he did that, WHY ??? you know they missed a point, their should have been a microphone in that transmitter that way they could have listened to the conversations and could have interceded on his behalf when something started to go wrong !!!!
SPOILER ALERT: The German is
Hey Joe - ah nevermind
big technical issues gi goe gur ru's.must be wanta be big bad marine boy who walked in kuwait and kicked ass.right?
is this an Ed Wood film?
They couldn't afford Ed Wood.
ask solider why are they fighting response was i dont know , its something to do kill or be killed . orsome county trying to take over the world ,ya right
Ouch! It was so bad it was good, lol At least they didn't resort to using a whole bootfull of cliches.
A 9 volt battery in the middle of WWII.....HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
This movie had good intent and maybe a good script, but was very poorly made, poor acting and poorly produced!.....They should have given the script to the producers of Combat!!, it would have come out much better.
You're A Good Sporv! C'mon. numberless farm What's your opinion about it, gu{s 11
Small sized video transmitter...german made...1943
Combad
I love old movies but I can’t stand the 5 minutes of credits at the start. It ruins the film
You mean the first minute and 26 seconds right?
