  • Movie Class by PizzaFLIX: Alex Nicol produced, directed, and starred in this lost War Mystery gem. Nicol was discovered in 1950 by Universal director George Sherman, who cast him in his film THE SLEEPING CITY. After the filming Red Ball Express (1952), Nicol went to the Universal front office and asked to be released from his contract. Ironically, he returned frequently to film at Universal at a much larger fee than he was getting as a contract player.
Stars: Alex Nicol, Barry Cahill, Frank Latimore
    Director: Alex Nicol
When an American attack on the German-held town of San Corrado results in the Germans being forced out of the town, they don't have time to take along a top Italian partisan leader they have captured and imprisoned. Fearing that the Americans will turn the man loose to organize more partisan attacks on their forces, the Germans send one of their top agents to infiltrate the town, posing as an American soldier cut off from his unit, and assign him to re-capture the partisan leader and bring him back for interrogation--or, if that's not possible, to kill him. Also known as Three Came Back

My Father was in Italy during the siege of Monte Cassino.in ‘44. He got caught away from his weapon by German Paratrooper with a Schmeisser smg. They looked at each other for a moment then the German, who had him cold, backed into the bush he had come from without killing him. His life would be spared again later when shipped to the Philippines to stage for the Invasion of Japan. He was to be in the third wave of the invasion of Honshu. The A Bomb dropped over Nagasaki saved him from that particular death horror..

I totally enjoyed the movie. One thing that stood out was when an actor made a mistake, like the German Sgt. accidentally knocking something off the table, the director did not yell cut and do the scene over, the Sgt. just bent over and picked it up. One of the GI's flubbed a line but just kept going.
This movie had a lot more realism then most films.

One of my favorite movies is Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None", which is why this caught my attention, I enjoyed it, similar in many ways, good cast, good story line ... thanks for the upload "Pizzaflix" you do not disappoint ...

He was quite a guy He also organized the units that spoke english, like Americans, and messed up signs and got everybody all screwed up. You gotta hand it to them. Devious.

Okay, stopped at 52:50 for this comment.First time I've seen this one. While it's not Paul Newman quality,it's still a universe beyond Plan 9 (but even Capt. Kangaroo was) Script and story didn't bother me either. The weapons:interesting, '03 Springfields without front sights, obviously de-scoped snipers, and a mixture of 1928 and M-1 Thompsons. The lone German shooter captured in the bombed out building was using a 98K Mauser,so that's correct, the rest at distances and moving,so I can't say for sure, but haven't seen it all yet. This was filmed in Italy,so the weapons choices could have been slim or mucho, depending on where the WWII surplus was stored at that time. All things considered,I'm not having a bad time watching this....A couple of the previous commenters are just rude, vulgar know-it-alls and we don't hear them. Poop on you,you rude kiniggitts!,I fart in your general direction!

Sometime in the early 1960s, my dad went to the market and was surprised to see Leo Gorcy in line ahead of him with a big bottle of whiskey. My dad greeted him by name, asked how he was doing, etc. My dad said it was obvious Leo had been already drinking, and he seemed as if he was trying to remember my dad; but the two had never met before.
