This third-generation Camaro RS has been a ground-up project by its owner to turn it into a track-worthy build as he learns the art of performance driving. Though the 3.1L V6 is mostly stock and making an optimistic 190 horsepower, the chassis improvements are signiificant, leading to quite the interesting canyon carver, with plans to add LS power in the future.

I want a repeat episode once he gets the LS!
Gamera I second this!!
Gamera I second this pt 2!
most definitely
Agreed, great car!
I agree!
Rebuilds car. Totals car. Rebuilds car. What a legend.
Jithran Pohl it's like the devil z, but murican
leaves the v-6 in the car.gets left behind.comes to his senses.has fun
He seems like a responsible person lmao
that is the definition of a true hot rodder
You do realize it's not hard to total a 500 dollar car right
People give Matt crap for doing his job, but continue to watch his free shows. Give the man some respect.
Ian Rawdon respekt
look at it.....look at it.....NOW RESPECT IT
look at it.....look at it.....NOW RESPECT IT
I'm sure he feels the same about you ,.,.,.,.
Ian Rawdon he got my respect
These third gen camaro's truly never get the respect they deserve, and Its great to finally see someone who has taken the time to build one and get it reviewed. Also I had a 1990 rs with same 3.1l engine, and it had enough power to get the job done, but how smooth and comfy it was on the road was what was truly awesome about it
That thing is an LS swap away from being the sickest 3rd Gen i've ever seen
So nice to see an owner that knows EVERYTHING about his car/build
Thanks
It looked so fast standing still
Yeah, too bad about when it was in motion
Martin Quin
I've never appreciated my four banger more than at this very moment😂
P.s. They're filming on a public street and "legally" can't go faster than 65mph so they don't
Victor_Von_DOOM! I agree my ae86 is faster than this😂
But it looked slow going slow!
Matt, thanks for featuring a car that's being built the right way: suspension and handing before power. Most of the cars featured are high-power ones, so this is a refreshing One Take.
HarvesterUT2 we'll see how it performs. Generally, more power = more views but This one has a good thumbnail
I appreciate the variety over raw power. Keep finding interesting 80s/90s cars!
I don't even like the looks of this generation of Camaro, but this one looked so good in the thumbnail I had to click on it! XD
Man, most people want power just so they can do short bursts in a straight line on the road. For that kind of driver, no other supporting mods are needed to balance that power.
First thing I did when I bought my gen 3 was suspenion
I've never seen a comment in any of your videos asking for your sunglasses.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Factz
Literally never seen any other video but still had the EXACT same thought 🤣
I guess nobody care about the glasses 🤓 they are ugly
Well there is now
Dope one take. Owner seems like a cool dude and he's knowledgeable about his car. Nice
this is a perfect example of why I subscribe to this channel. This car will be a beast once it gets the LS. This is one of the best home engineered upgraded cars to date for this channel.
Thank you
Love your car, approach and philosophy. Lots of consideration, out of the box problem solving, etc. instead of simply ordering out of a catalogue, has made your car very unique. Hope you post some videos of it on your youtube in the future
I can't wait to see it with the LS engine. I understand and like your reason for the 4.8 crankshaft. It will be interesting to see what valvetrain and RPM you get out of the engine.
Why does everyone cry about needing an ls? The motor still works, an ls won't make a huge difference unless he goes blower or something.
Austin you are wrong. An LS will make a huge difference.
One of the best owners in a long time. I actually kind of love the V6's sound, too.
its got a nice gurgle to it doesn't it?
Yeah, Nick has got to be my top choice for copilot so far. Not sure I agree with his "too much torque down low," but otherwise, this guy knows what's up and does it his way.
eb110americana the "too much torque down low" comment had me wondering if this guy has ever actually driven on a track in his life.
I think he just prefers the momentum style of cars that let you power out of a corner flat, not having to modulate the throttle.
Borla sounds the best on these to me.
I like this dude, I wish more car owners were as knowledgeable and original. Really would like to keep track of his progress -- the prospect of a high-revving, de-stroked LS powering this thing, what with its considerable chassis and suspension tuning, makes this project one worth following.. and I'm sure it'll make for one hell of a driver in the end.
that tidbit of toyo tires is such a nugget of baller knowledge
I have Toyo tires on my car which are supposed to stick out only slightly more (215 - "225" upgrade) and now understand why they stick out much move obviously vs my friends different tires with "same size", lol.
Right? I feel cooler for knowing now.
If you close your eyes and listen to this guy, you'd swear it was Ross from "Friends" talking
These cars have so much more potential than people realize as a track car. It doesn't take a lot to get them to stick great for a solid rear axle around corners.
old mates beard looks like a thumbs up
Brent Gibala can't unsee it. Thanks...
Brent Gibala holy shit 😂
Brent Gibala I can't stop looking now
Brent Gibala boiii
Brent Gibala hahahaha
third generation Camaro my favorite car of all time
Snapback yes I like this more than every gen after, lookwise....
Snapback I agree
+Snapback
I used to love my 3rd gen Camaro. Was my first car; bought April 28, 1994 for $3700 cash. I parked it shortly after buying my '91 Jeep YJ and haven't had the Camaro registered for the road in 17 years and have completely lost interest in 3rd gens now. Time to find mine a new home...
Snapback getting one soon! Parking it next to my 55 Chevy 150 Series. Go Chevy!
The 2017 is good one too
That guy has a refreshing attitude towards engines .
Matt: when you power it out of a corner, using less throttle or even lifting is not how it works . ;)
Not the kind of car I would usually be into, but this thing is awesome. The owner is a legend.
What a great car, and a smart owner/driver allowing the car to evolve, getting to know the car, vs just chucking power at it right away.
.
the third gen is the best looking Camaro, IMO.
Looks like a 600hp car standing still
Actually really glad that this came up, because for a long while I've considered getting 3rd gen Camaro. It's just something that is not seen often in the car world as something for drifting or drag and yet it seems very capable of both. Very influential and makes me consider getting one even more so now.
Balanced chasis over power any day. Win 👌
xZENxSAMURAIx Or how about both.
xZENxSAMURAIx to each their own. I'd love a 700 hp hot rod with soft suspension and sticky r888. A nice torque shove puts a bigger grin on my face than flat cornering these days.
HAD A 91 RED/RED CAMARO. PUT ON A BORLA EXHAUST, NEW COMPUTER CHIP AND NEW POWER PULLEYS. IT WAS A WHOLE NEW BEAST. BEAUTIFUL CARS AND LOTS OF FUN, BETTER THAN TODAY'S CAMAROS
This dude deserves high-fives for life. What an amazing build.
Always admired the shape..
Of Matt's head
definition of "built not bought"
I have a 92 rs v6 Camaro sitting in public storage- future project car. Bought the car 10 years ago for $ 400- put 50000 miles on it. The car would not stop.
Defnitiely do another go with the LS. Just from looking at the car and hearing the way he talked, I automatically knew there was something special underneath the body. Incredible car.
This probably my favorite one take and not even for the car itself though it is awesome. You can tell the guys knows his shit and wanted to make his car, not someone else's. Really good work.
I like that he kept the OG purple tint.
after being so involved in my car built. I can definitely appreciate the time and effort this guy has put into his car. love it
That dash cover though. Classic lol
Hey Matt where did you get those sweet sweet shades?
-said no one
Okus Sidenote hahahahahahha
Lmao
ive asked about the lenses.
Except people did ask in the comments when he started wearing those.
He told u anyway so u can get free videos
the sunglasses cost $495... holy shit. and you get a free shirt.
greenrolaids lol
no...79 dollars retail
Free shirt is really a $475 value, so the sunglasses are a steal.
79 is for the shirt the glasses ar $495
check the description again
I really like this guy. He knows what he wants and I like that it's function not form. That destroked LS sounds like a cool idea.
Living in the UK I have never seen anything like this in person. Looks awesome.
Glad to see third gens getting some love
I love how this guy geeks out on tire sizes. Awesome Camaro!
Wow this guy is actually pretty smart and very technical. He built a great platform, learns how to drive skillfully and then shoves the power in.
That wide body is amazing, I had to watch the camera go around his car like 3 times before I noticed where the extra width was added. I had an 86 Trans Am and my brother had an 87 IROC Z so I am familiar with the body and still took me that long to see it. Superb job. My favorite wide bodies are the ones you need a double take to see.
Its a free country and he seems like a nice guy who knows a bit. I was gonna say why a 6 cylinder, then he said future LS and I thought OK. He is also very correct about being under powered being a good teacher. This is very true with motor cycles as well. Things are so powerful now its nearly impossible to learn when your just trying not to die when you open a throttle a bit.
those camaros are future classics
Thumbs up for the owner dropping knowledge!
Time to grow my mullet out
John cena sucks mine started growing just watching this
This car is awesome. Most people do videos on high power cars but that's what makes this so interesting. People love your videos on "oddballs" more than anything!
This is what car love really is... Screw those $100K+ cars.
narlycharley there is NO greater joy than passing a "super car" through a canyon in this Camaro. Trust me
narlycharley old school FTW.
We only paid 2k for mine it was on rough shape but now that I'm getting my permit we are fixing her up
I love this guy. This is exactly why I loved my RX-8 so much. It's not over powered and it teaches you how to drive. I don't understand why most american cars sovlve the lack of handling with more power.
soon as I clicked on the video I hit that like button. my first car was a 92 rs with t tops. it was a sick car
You know, im currently rebuilding a 3rd gen, and I had an idea of what I wanted it too look like, and in my head, this is exactly what I pictured
Forgotten Village thanks bud
This guy knew what he wanted and how to get there! Impressive! He could be an opponent in Initial D. :P
great advanced car talk.. I need to step my car knowledge game up ASAP!
Thumbnail had super excited. Was hoping for an LS7 swap or something. Still a cool car and a good kid.
I'm glad he did chassis, brakes and suspension upgrades before he even thought about more power. That's the smart way to do it. Not a good idea having a thousand horsepower if you can't stop or turn.
Falcon Powerful 👍🏻
Love this gen, my childhood. Would love to work on this gen Camaro in my spare time. This guy certainly is smart with his car: learn to drive a slow car fast first, then go real fast. Cant wait for another one-take after he puts in that LS. Well done.
Good to see there a some TRUE enthusiasts still out there!!! So refreshing to see with all the modern "enthusiasts" who are only concerned with their street cred and the amount of followers they have on IG. They have literally no idea how to drive but sure are obsessed with the world knowing they are a "car guy". As long as they put off the image of being a car guy, than apparently that's what being a car guy is these days. Just look like one. KILLER car and build sir!!! Well done. Take notes kids, THIS is a build. Wheels and low isn't a build. I'm sorry. It's just not. lol
The only Camaro body I like, respect from Ford/Toyota guy
Nice, I love when people do cool stuff just because they think it's cool. This guy clearly had good vision.
Matt, you should start a series called 2ndtake doing 1take cars after additional mods are completed
There's a part of me that thinks this generation Camaro is hideous, yet there's a part of me that totally gets it. I think a track build like that foxbody he did a while back would be perfect. Like a more modern trans am maybe
dude basically just built a car... awesome.
Never really been a fan of the 3rd gen camaro bodystyle, but I love this.
finally a wode body with propper track width instead of off set or spacers
Man, my dad had a '92 Camaro RS (maroon) when I was 12. I learned how to drive in it. Thought it was the coolest car in the world back then.
This guy makes Matt look like a school girl when it comes to knowing your shit.
Dodo M matt is a driver not a builder, thats just normal
sexy and always learning?
I'm not a fan of these camaros, but this thing is pretty damn cool and with an LS swap, it'll be a monster. Can't wait to see this thing back when it gets the new engine
I havent seen anyone asking about Dillon Optics in the comments section.
Phoenix Rising Money..
Phoenix Rising If I get to see such quality content, I don't mind sponsorship
Just stating facts unlike our friend here.
Well they are now ;)
Phoenix Rising people def have asked in the past, I remember mention of them for a long time now
Nice to see someone doing it from chassis first, engine last. Lot less scary than other way round.
HEY GUYS MATT FARAH HERE WITH OXICLEAN! I KNOW EVERYONES BEEN ASKING ME "HEY MATT HOW DO YOU GET SUCH CLEAN SHITS??!!?? WELL FROM THR MAKERS OF SHAMWOW COMES OXICLEAN
Bro, whatever it takes for him to keep giving us videos for free ... just skip to 45 seconds
😂
Okus Sidenote I died
Okus Sidenote HOW CLEAN ARE HIS SHITS?
Okus Sidenote One step away mate.
I am watching the channel for a week now. I have seen like 20 videos. This one is my favourite right after the 1927 Bugatti. This guys knows what he is doing. Great project.
If GM copied this car exactly and sold it as a 2018 Camaro, people would probably buy it over the 6th gen.
Destroking a LS so the hp is up there in the rpm range. Smart guy. With the right top end components he'll have a rev'er.
The owner is a legend,
I especially agree on what he is saying about low end torque. That's why I like N/A engines that you need to rev. To me that's what driving is all about.
Matt, or Zach. Get ahold of this guy and see if he’s done the swap yet. I want to see that.
Please put an LS in that boss ass ride.
real talk can we stop the ls plaque they arent god like motors
yes, yes they are.
real talk that's what I'm sayin
Please 2jz it
lfx swap
3rd Gens, especially the later IROC-Z, Formula and GTA models handled and braked damn well for their time. They had so much better suspension geometry over the Mustang from same era.
Definitely hit us with another vid when the LS swap comes through!
Love it! You can't go fast with 2000 horsepower if you can't go fast with 200 horsepower!
I got one of them we are currently replacing the fuel pump after that I am.going to be replacing the seats and re doing the interior and after that I will get it painted glossy red
this needs a stock 3.6 LFX motor - can rev to 7000 and 300hp easy and probably weighs really close to what he has now. that way all his work in suspension tuning isn't wasted. Awesome car!!!!
I think for what he's asking for he would be better off with a JDM engine rather than an LS, but he would receive a lot of hate..
He makes a good point about the low end torque. I always wanted to get an ls7, destroke it, build it for 8500rpm and go road racing. An aluminum big block would be even better.
Car needs a 2jz with the twin t setup
He wants a light engine, not an anchor.
Scrolled down the comments to try to find love for the fact that he has a FUCKING AYRTON SENNA MOVIE POSTER in the background. Ain't no love for the GOAT on here!??
i did buy glasses, but how do you know? :-) wheres my t shirt?
This is why i love cars
It all has a nice design...damn it has some style
That dude is a car nerd.
Yeah, EVERYBODY was asking about the sunglasses! This is actually more of a sunglasses than a car channel. Seriously, though, I don't give a damn about the ads, I welcome him to do whatever it needs to keep giving us this great content for free.
Thirdgen gang
That chassis deserves a trophy.
Thus guy needs to start a channel!
Michael Stellitano think so?
What would I do on the channel though.. what would you want to see
Nicholas Morrow Parts and upgrades to the car could be vlogged/reviewed. LS swap overview if you haven't already done it.
I was never a big fan of the way these cars look but this one is just BADASS looking. Glad we're going with the LS swap, but learning to drive a decent RWD car with less power fast is way better than learning to drive fast with a car that you can't handle. Thats how i did it and I'm a much better driver. That as well as not caring if I destroy it... luckily I didn't
Have you ever driven a classic mini? They're a hell of a lot of fun
When I saw the thumbnail this was the last version of this car I expected to see but still so refreshing. Matt you really have them crawling out of the woodwork now, keep em' coming!
It would be cool to see a Buick gn motor or a 3 rotor single turbo in that camaro.
destroked ls is the perfect choice . awesome job and car!
That thing will be an animal with 500 horse!
Nice 2nd gen does yours have 500 horse?
Not at the moment. It's pretty stock right now, but I'm working on a 4.8 Chevy and I'm aiming for 480hp at 7,000 RPM. Going to mate that to a T-56 and some 3.73's.
Nice setup wish you best of luck on your build
Thanks! First engine build so I'm going to need it.
Got 92 RS v6 12 yrs ago $400. After fuel pump parked it in barn 8 yrs. I wrecked my truck and got it out and put about 40000 on it v6 motors are tough. Waiting for resto now.
jimbo9357 awesome bud
