    Thank you, thank you, thank you! The deepest cleaning in service mode couldn't clear a bad magenta clog in my 9900. I found this video while looking for solutions, ordered the piezo flush, followed the instructions in this video, and the clog is now gone! I did have to run one regular cleaning after the piezo flush/paper towel/print head cleaning but now the nozzle check pattern is perfect and I'm currently printing up a bunch of photos for a show this weekend. Cheers!

    Thanks for taking the time to post this very educational video. My 9900 is spewing black tracks all over prints lately. I don't use it a lot and I'm sure that's why this is happening. I'll be doing a massive cleanup on it this week because I have a particular print with lots of white space that needs to be shipped.

    My Epson 7890 cleaning cycle fails and ask to retry. It fails if press I select yes again. Did nozzle check and seems the yellow is not working yet I just replaced with a new cartridge. No yellow is printing. All other colors are fine. Could this be the cartridge itself or clogged nozzle. It was working fine before the changed cartridge. Now every 10 seconds it is making a noise as to whirring noise. Turned it off and still makes noise. What could it be?

The Epson authorized service technician checked the printer through software and mechanically the printer; We changed all the black inks (matte black, Black, Ligh ligh black etc) that I always use original, but I still have the same problem. Could you please tell me what could be the cause and how I can solve it? Thank you very much

    Hello what would cause the magenta to stop printing?

    • @Inkjetmall
      @Inkjetmall  Před rokem

      It could be any number of things. If the cartridge is defective, if it is a 3rd party cartridge that is unprimed, if there is a pressurization issue with the cartridge, if the damper inside the ink selector unit has been plugged with pigment, if the ink being printed is from a very outdated cartridge, if pigment has settled into the area behind the print channel in between the print head and the ink selector unit, if there is a plug in the ink channel itself in the print head, if the channel is electrically dead...and possibly even other reasons...

    Can I flush just one ink line at a time? For example I want to only flush my cyan, light cyan and magenta, or do I have to flush all the ink channels?

    • @Inkjetmall
      @Inkjetmall  Před rokem

      You can not flush one channel at a time using a utility. Flushing using the POWER CLEAN or the EPSON maintenance utility uses strong powerful suction to empty all ink lines. So this is what you should do if you are trying to clear a clog because printing out a single channel does not create any suction or strong forces. HOWEVER, if you wish to flush a single channel to remove the ink and replace with another you can do this with an independent ink channel printer driver like QuadTone RIP in its Calibration Mode if you alter it's inkseparation file to only include the color information for that channel you wish to change an ink out of. You will need read its documentation to understand how to do that, and the documentation is part of the downloads at QuadTone RIP. It is not intuitive.

    When I do a nozzle check I see large blanks blocks on the black as well. What should I do?

    • @Inkjetmall
      @Inkjetmall  Před 9 měsíci

      depends if this is just a sudden change in a printer that you have been printing with all along or you are trying to resurrect one that has been sitting a long time, or if you just changed black ink modes after a very long time of not using that black. What does your nozzle check look like? If it has a few missing nozzles you can probably recover. But if it has swaths of areas missing it is probably a fatal head delamination. If you had not changed black ink modes in a very long time then your black ink exchanger is probably plugged and needing replacement, but you may still be able to use the black ink mode you had been using. If just starting up a printer over a long time of rest you should flush it out and let the flush rest in it for a couple days before putting inks back.. It all depends!

    • @user-fl4oc8cr9w
      @user-fl4oc8cr9w Před 9 měsíci

      I wouldn't know. I just got it used from someone. The photo black is completely out so I am waiting for the shipment. I am guessing I should try purging/cleaning powerful a couple of times and see if it makes a difference first. 2nd would be to take out the printhead and soak it with 70% alcohol. (Do you have instructions on printhead removal?) If that still does not work then I need a new printhead.
      What do you think? @@Inkjetmall

    • @Inkjetmall
      @Inkjetmall  Před 9 měsíci

      @@user-fl4oc8cr9w I would never use alcohol on a print head unless I wanted to rapidly dry it out. You need the absolute opposite. Even distilled water would be a more efficient and save solvent to use than alcohol. Alcohol and ammonium should not be used to clear print heads. They are more an effective solution to preserving a perfectly working print head by first flushing with a wetting agent and then finishing up to remove the wetting agent by a drying agent. If instead there is a clog only something with a sufficient wetting agent should be used. This is what PiezoFlush is about. You can find and purchase the field service manual for your printer model on the 2manuals website.

    How much piezoflush solution per cartridge for a fill or charge on a Epson 9900?

    • @Inkjetmall
      @Inkjetmall  Před rokem +1

      You do not need to fill the entire cartridge, but you do need enough volume for the cartridge to operate well. We think about 70ml is minimum in allowing you to run at least two charges and not introduce any air into the printer. The chip of a 9900 cartridge is not actually connected to the ink volume. If reset it assumes the cartridge is full. So filling it less than full means you need keep track of the ink volume and not allow air into the printer.

    • @Inkjetmall
      @Inkjetmall  Před 2 lety

      The black channel prints both the MK and PK - so I assume you have lost the use of both. If not and you can only print one of the MK or PK - then your stoppage is in the black ink exchanger in the ink selector unit attached to the print head. In any event, you now only have 9 of your 10 ink channels working. You can convert the printer to the Piezography Black and White ink system. To do this you would install the 9 ink version of Piezography Pro inks in your printer. You would use the Piezography Professional Toolkit to map out the black channel and install the black inks into the orange and green channels. You can learn about Piezography here: piezography.com/

      We've not heard of that before. Clean cycles are a function selected in the LCD panel on your printer or using the Epson printer utility software, but can not be changed by cleaning the printer manually. If your printer starts up normally - and you have the EPSON LCD panel and select it to perform a cleaning, usually only a full maintenance box will prevent that.

Does this sound characteristic of a failed head? Epson prices the repair at around $2400 - just trying to figure out if its worth getting a technician out to just tell me its the head, or perhaps it could be another part that is priced cheaper. Any help appreciated!

    • @Inkjetmall
      @Inkjetmall  Před 7 lety

      It may be only the black ink exchanger. Both PK & MK share the same print head channel but the inks are switched in the ink exchanger. The ink exchanger sits on top of the print head and contains all the damper filters as well. You can buy a new one from Compass Micro (Epson customer parts depot). If the clog is not on the surface of the print head it could be inside the ink channel, or between the ink selector unit and the ink channel, or inside of the ink selector unit itself including a damper/filter. In this case, PiezoFlush is introduced via the very strong suction of the INITIAL FILL procedure: shop.inkjetmall.com/how-to-use-piezoflush

      +Enrique Molina at first i would print half inch cream color at beginning of print and print the image at highest resolution then i went on Craigslist and bought a 9800 that did not have the defected head the 9890 serise has. I still have the 9890 and for around $460 there is a cleaning solution called piezoflush or somthing like that that may or may not revive the printer. I have been using epson stylus pros for 9 years and the 9890 going out on me and many more people right after the warranty (13 months) is crap. I almost just gave up on epson it ticked me off so much. But the kit will flush the heads without damaging the head like a power clean in service mode so i will give it a shot but i do clean my other printer just like in the video and never have to do cleaning though i run the almost everyday. Hope that helps.

      Larry Nielsen they actually have print heads that are physically identical to and replaceable with heads from the 7890/9890 and 7900/9900 printers. Cleaning them is similar although menus may be different. What is remarkably different is the new printers in USA are locked by Epson against the use of refillable carts. So you can not use PiezoFlush internally.

      No, but you can try restarting the printer. If that doesn't work, power ON the printer in Self Testing Mode. Some people suggest running 9900 adjustment program for unclogging. Do you know if it would work?
    All the best

    • @Inkjetmall
      @Inkjetmall  Před 3 lety

      The only way to remedy an internal clog - is via the INITIAL INK CHARGE. A PiezoFlush filled cartridge can be inserted in the affected channels. BUT, the INITIAL INK CHARGE will drain inks from all of the ink positions. There is nothing you can do to avoid that. To run dozens and dozens of cleaning cycles on just the affected channel will burn that channel out. ONLY the INITIAL INK CHARGE uses just suction. The other cleaning cycles stimulate the head and more than just a few will burn it out if it has air in it. If you can not afford to waste ink in order to save a channel - you might consider converting the printer to Piezography Black and White which requires only between 6 and 9 working channels depending upon what type of Piezography system you choose. Our software can map out the bad channels - and you will be able to print much higher quality black and white than you can with Epson inks. piezography.com/ Contact us at shop.inkjetmall.com and we can put together a custom system for you. The reality is if you have been running dozens of clean cycles to clear the orange - you may have delaminated that channel due to heat. But only the INITIAL INK CHARGE is safe. It takes one to bring PiezoFlush to the head. Then you shut the printer down for 2-4 days to allow it to work. Then you repeat the INITIAL INK CHARGE to pull out the agglomerated pigment. Then you run your first nozzle check... But, PiezoFlush has fixed a ton or printers!

    • @joncone
      @joncone Před 5 lety

      Probably not. This is preventative maintenance. If your cyan channel is completely blocked it would more likely be a result of an internal clog rather than a surface clog. The reason I gave 4 stars for tech support (which I don't think this would classify as tech support) is because once you turn the printer on, it does require a little bit of start up time which may bother some who are in a hurry to quickly print something. To offset that though the printer prints very quickly. I would definitely purchase this printer again.
