  • I probably did not quite fully cover this subject.
    I fact I know I did not.
    When it plagues you it is a pain in the butt to solve.
    Sometimes easy and sometimes hard to impossible.
    But the happy not is that we can avoid this extremely easily by just doing this.
    Print often! Use your amazing printers as they were intended.
    DO not ignore because you can not afford to use them
    Need I go on?

    😭 thank you for this video! I feel like this is the most relevant video out there regarding cleaning print heads even after 5 years! My “new” printer came to me in an ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS condition and absolutely nothing worked until i flushed out the print head according to this video. Literally 3 power cleaning cycles, a LOT of regular cleaning cycles, and 50+ pages of purge/nozzle checks

    I committed the sin pointed out by Jose in this video. I didn't frequently do a print-out on my older Epson 9800. It sit for a year while I was recovering from some health issues. After following several different cleaning procedures on CZcams, the yellow ink channel still had a stubborn clog with air bubbles in the feed line. I had just about got to the point of trashing the printer, but... I purchased from InkJet Mall the suggested syringe (with extra priming nibs), Piezo Flush and foam cleaning swabs. Using the nibs I sucked out the bubbles forming in the yellow ink line, did the Jose suggested gentle pulsing of the P flush into the head (using the supplied blunt needle), and a few cleaning cycles later.... Waa-Laa! Fully formed nozzle check! Mr. Rodriguez is the Man. Thank you for your great articulation and guidance.

      Hello YYoung. I just ordered piezo flush. And I may do the pumping/ syringe vaccum method. Jose mentioned.. I'm confused as to where he's saying we pump the solution in... on the head... where on the head.... Any explanation would be helpful as I trouble shoot. Thanks.

      It's been awhile since I've done this procedure, and I had only one yellow ink line not responding, or laying down ink. On the Epson 9800 I seem to remember after opening up and sliding the ink head free, dislodging (pulling) the yellow ink line off, directly where it enters the ink head. You may need some nose pliers.

    I have to say I was skeptical of this video at the outset because I didn't see a picture of a printer. However, this was the video that saved my printer!!! You are a Godsend, sir! The details and knowledge you shared saved our family a ton of money. And I'm glad I couldn't find tubing small enough to fit over my inkjet ports -- I'm sure I'd have made a total mess and probably done some damage with the whole syringe thing from other videos I'd watched. God bless you -- wish I could buy you a cup of coffee! Thank you so much!!

    Thanks for taking the time to put this video together. This is certainly something I will put to good use. Have you tried matte or fine art paper note cards on the Pro 1? I ask because of the issues with margins and matte black inks that so many people have pointed out in their reviews of this printer. It seems to be a printer that evokes strong reactions both positive and negative.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  Před 7 lety

      I have not. At one time I did a video where I printed a Glossy Greeting card on stock from Red River.
      I have not had a single problem with it. Believe me. Most negative comments about this printer are eventually traced to user error. Two thick a paper will of course cause head strikes but there are adjustment the user has obviously not set up properly or simply just ignored. So yes then you get black smudges. Nothing to do with Matte Black Ink.

    I recently acquired a wf7620 that had been sitting for months with out ink . I tried to clean the print head with just about everything, the color started working but not the black so I replaced the print head . I am wanting to use this printer for sublimation. I have done several cleanings on the new head and have all my colors but if I print a purge file my black has white lines in it and when I print a picture it has lines through it as well. If I run a purge file on another printer it is a solid wide black line . I can figure out why I have a perfect test page and a terrible print quality where do I go from here any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏

    Hello Jose. This looks like a great new way to try removing printhead clogs. Unfortunately I’ve been dealing with stubborn clogs in my Epson P7000 24” wide format printer's K and LK channels. Would you have any suggestions how I could adapt this push/pull vacuum fix considering the long ink lines and no easy access to a port to attach the syringe. Any thoughts or ideas will be appreciated. Also, on behalf of so many inkjet users, thank you for your willingness to share your knowledge and experiences with us.

  • @TheDeLeonGarageCollection

    I neglected my CIS WF7710 printer for a year as covid killed my business. After many cleaning cycles, all colors lines were complete except for yellow. I removed the print head after not being able to manually clean inside the printer. I was able to clear the clog with a homemade cleaner but now I’m still getting a few broken lines in each color. I really don’t want to keep doing more cleaning cycles. Will the missing nozzles eventually clean or what should be my next step?

    Whaaat? A 5 years old boy can travel alone in the Metro? I think this is actually impossible in Italy XD, In italy there's a law (that NO ONE respects for obvious reasons) that says that a boy under 14 years old cannot be left alone even to take a train without parents... In some pages I can see that some companies have some regulations about the fee for everyone that leaves a "less than 11 years old" in a public transport, damn in this country everything is delayed!!
    Oh friend you're really so much experienced in printing topic, and I have to say that the first times I was repairing printers and refilling (around year 2013) you really teached me so much, I learned a lot from you, so it's even for you that until today I repaired more than 300 printers! Oh, do you have in mind the part where you said about pulling the power cord to make the printhead free to move by hand? I have a little trick, the professional trick to unlock it without even powering the printer on XD
    Anyway, bad news? I really hope that it's not related to you, I hope you are fine :c

      LOL no my friend not totally alone. Just meaning he can do everything himself with not help from us. So printers printheads as you well know can be physically unlocked by locating the little lever that locks it. With the more sophisticated photo printers that lock is deeply hidden and we have to use the power on power off method. The bad news is not about me personally. I just posted the video. It has to do with shipping. Email me!!!

    I followed your instructions on how to clean (using cleaning fluid) a Epson 7100 with no result so I ended up ordering a new printer from Epson. After very involved installation over one month before trashing the old printer I that I would try printing from it. I printed a couple of sheets and only got clear cleaner fluid on the sheet. Then the following sheets started getting color printing. Therefore it seem you need to let the printer set for a month or more to completely desolve the ink clogs in the printer head and lines from the cartridges.

When I turned my printer back on the word EPSON appears for about a second on the white background then it disappears, I get a beep or two, and then it reappears for another second, disappears again and the loop continues. Hello, Jose! I have not been using my Epson SC-P600 for about 3 months. After 4 cleaning cycles all print heads show all the lines, except magenta that shows none. I use standard Epson cartridges, no refills. Do you think it is one of those more sever clogs? or maybe there is some other issue with the cartridge? I even pulled it out, shook it a little, and put it back. After that those magenta dots that were showing, about 15% of them, disapeared completely. Did 3 cycles, not a single magenta dot, and no change. Other colors are all there... Should I try the cleaning pad method at this point? Thank you.

I have the Canon pro 100 which I hesitate to even remove from the box. I always use after market ink - refillables with my Epsons. But not sure I can successfully modify the Canon cartridges as you instruct. I don't print often enough now. I do image editing/a little graphic design, card making and such. Most often to give away. Thank you so much! I will appreciate your help. I have seen your videos on setting up the Pro-100, and modifying the cartridges. Although I am the one in this house setting up and using devices and electronics, the part that is daunting to me is using the drill without ruining a cartridge. Yes, I too have enjoyed freely printing because of the use of after market ink, and find it essential to any printer I buy. With all my Epsons I have been mostly successful using refillables. I am using the Artisan 837 at the moment. I don't do as much printing as I have done, which is why I hesitate to start using the new Canon. At some point I will again need the wide format. In the meantime, would you think the ink cartridges will lose their usefulness left unopened for so long? I suppose I have had the Canon for as much as a year already....new in box. Thanks again.

      You should absolutely not print any images until you solve the problem. Cleaning cycle followed by nozzle check then let the printer rest overnight and repeat with nozzle check. If you see an improvement from the last nozzle check then you know you are on the road to success. Cleaning cycle again and nozzle check. You did now say what printer. But if its a Canon you should able to narrow the cleaning cycle by choosing the color group containing the problem color so as to not waste ink on other colors that are flowing ok.

    PLEASE HELP!
    I use an Epson r3000 to print my own artwork - only 300+/- prints since 2011.
    PROBLEM: About a year ago, after not printing anything for many many months (undoubtedly it’s terribly clogged) I tried to print - got a jam error - could not find a jam.
    FF TO TODAY: Watched a video on taking the case off - paper jammed in beside the printhead - printer working again. YAY! ..... Oooops! NO! Printing blank pages - did nozzle check - tried cleaning - couple inks are out - printer won’t clean - ordered more ink (genuine).
    PLEASE ADVISE: I’d prefer to clean it and (hopefully) fix it - it looks simple enough. How much risk is there to damaging the printhead if I try cleaning it? Your instructions are very straight forward and I’m a mature adult. I can do it. But, I don’t really need the printer. I rarely use it. I have received an offer for the printhead only ($200). Is that a fair price? Should I cut my losses and just sell the printhead?
    Also, I live less than 2 hrs from DC and I understand there’s repair shop near there. Perhaps you’re familiar? Not sure it’s worth hauling it there though, and cost might be prohibitive.

    Love your videos! I had an extreme clog in the black ink channel of my Epson WF-7720. Nothing worked to clear it. As a last resort, I took the print head apart and cleaned it. The printer showed error code 031008, after reassembly. So, I pulled it apart again to see if something was put back together incorrectly. Everything looks fine, but I'm still getting this error. Is the printer done for? Would buying a new printhead fix it or would it just be a waste of money? Is there something else that I can do?

    Hi Jose, I hope you can help. I have an Epson SC-P800 which has been in use steadily for about 6-8 months weekly. Everything was fine until a few days ago when it suddenly stopped printing at times. It shows the error "Printer Error. Turn off and then on again." Doing this doesn't actually help. I have installed new drivers, there's no paper clogs. It stopped working on my macbook so I tried it with my Mac. It printed once and then now shows the same error.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  Před 6 lety

      To eliminate the problem being a MAC driver or OS problem, I would suggest you find someone with a Windows Laptop and install the latest driver simply to test that. Printers usually do not stop working like that all of a sudden. Have you updated anything prior to the problem cropping up? I've had mine for a year with zero problems at least not yet.

    Hey, Ive got an Epson pro 4000, and nothing will work to clear some serious cloggs. I bought it secondhand to try my luck....again. Do you think I can inject straight original windex, maybe with some dye based ink, into a 3rd party refillable cartridge and run cleaning cycles? Ive unclogged an epson before, but it was a 2200, with the cartridges in the head, and i was able to inject and clear,,,,but since the 4000 has lines, do you think this will work? any tips appreciated. Youve helped me greatly already.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  Před 7 lety

      It would literally take forever! For the Windex to reach the problem areas as you would still have tons of ink blocking the way.
      The PRO4000 was and still is a notorious clogger that would have be used daily to keep it cleared!
      But do not let that stop you. WINDEX will work but Piezoflush ($$) is a lot more effective. Join the Inkjetmall forum and ask there as they have very good techs there.

    Hi Jose. Very informative and good video. Here's my situation. Hope you can shed your light on it. I bought a new Epson R2880 a loooong time ago. I hardly used it and I think I stored it for over 6 years... Now I am trying to bring it back to life. I cleaned the nozzles with Windex + alcohol (placed tubes over the nozzles, filled it up with the cleaning liquid and let it stand there for over 24 hours). Now all nozzles are working perfectly again, except yellow. I tried your suggestion of injecting the cleaner liquid with a syringe and slowly suck the clog out. Unfortunately it's still not letting ink through. Is there anything else I can try? Because I didn't want to invest in OEM Epson ink to try and see if the nozzles worked, I got myself some cheap ink cartridges. Somehow many of them weren't recognised and when the printer did recognise all of them, one or two stopped working again after cleaning the head. Once I had them all working again, another (pair) stopped working. Do you know if this is normal behaviour with cheap(er) knock-offs? Or does this indicate a serious issue with my printer? After the whole first batch of cartridges were replaced with new ones, they all worked. But after a head cleaning job two of them stopped again. I know I should try and buy original Epson cartridges, but if the printer head is broken, I am throwing away quite a lot of money on an old printer. Thanks in advance and keep up the great work! Saludos de Holanda.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  Před 6 lety

      Neither. Don't use either brand for weeks and they will both clog. The difference is Canon will immediately force you to run a huge Cleaning cycle after a long period of non use and SO.... It would seem like when it finally prints that photo, it will very likely be fine.
      The Epson will not perform that very likely needed cleaning cycle. So when you print and it WAS clogged, it will STILL be clogged. Had it ran a large cleaning cycle like the canon did, it would likely not be clogged.
      I hope you get what I mean. Both will equally and probably clog. Canon forces a cleaning cycle which unclogs it.
      Epson does not force a cleaning cycle! So if it is clogged it will still be clogged when you print.

      No one ever said Printing at Home would not be expensive. And printers NEED to be used or they clog for various reasons. So what we do is find the least wasteful way to maintain the print head free flowing and that is to run nozzle checks every few days. Sorry but there really is no other option. I use Precision colors and they have a very good inkset for the P600 called PCK3HD. Inketmall also makes excellent inkset for it ( P600 ) but more costly. However the inks are superior.
