- I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

Green sea turtles can live for 70+ years, meaning some of the turtles that were alive when this one was caught are still around.
:( I wonder how much they’ve had to adapt
Yeah, that turtle was my cousin he was a jerk honestly I'm glad he was caught.
@@SmooshGoo😅😂😂😂
Cool
With that material you can clone it and revive it.
It was nice of you to give him a proper burial.
How did you comment two weeks ago😅

Correct. Poor turtles robbed of life :(..
Or her.
Im glad your showing the world that some of these old food stay edible even decades, showing that people can survive decades from the disaster, much love man❤👍
@@FunkyMonkeySpank I mean scientist have tested pretty old cans in the past and they were deemed safe to eat. Canned foods are only bad to eat if the can gets dented, full of rust etc. If the can is in really good shape you can still eat it it might taste bad but you can still eat it.
@@FunkyMonkeySpankyou worry about him lol
It’s crazy because I been watching his channel for almost 4-5 years now & when I see expired things in the store, it’s because of him that I kno I can eat certain stuff & it’ll still be good.
Some foods keep better than others. Dried and vaccuum-sealed is the best. But rotate your stock, if you do that sort of thing.
This species of turtle can live up to and slightly beyond 70+ years. So if this can of Green Turtle Soup is 70 years old and that turtle when caught was 70 years old, that means that turtle meat inside this can could very possibly be from 1883 or earlier. This means if you would have ate any of that turtle, that before you died a very painful death, you would have set a new world record for eating the oldest reptile in the world in modern times.
You might be able to beat that with a giant Galapagos tortoise.
@@ChadDidNothingWrong haha true.
he’s everything that good mythical morning could never be… ❤
you mean watchable, without hurling? Then YES!@@blubblubee
The soup is "artificially" flavored with a product that is basically vegemite(a type of boullion to increase and intensify flavor). MSG wasn't widely used in the states yet. Due to the flavor coming from protein and not fresh produce it is considered artificial. Just not artificial with anything fake
Thank you Captain!
Gotta say, I wasn't expecting the turtle meat to be cut into neat little squares.
This channel is amazing. My brother showed me today, and I thought “a mad man opening cans!!!!”.
But now I realise how reductive and wrong I was to say that. This man has knowledge and genuine interest of a very odd, but still important part of history. Fair play to you mate! Your knowledge, genuine intrigue, great videos and passion are something the world definitely needs more of.
You the man!!! God bless ❤
Let this be a reminder in the eternal paper vs plastic debate: you can always plant more trees, but you cannot unchoke a sea turtle
"you cannot unchoke a sea turtle" Well I mean if you're in the right place at the right time...
@@mgratk you can save a turtle from dying by being choked but it was still choked.
You can also breed more sea turtles? Also, western countries aren't the cause of the plastic pollution in the oceans, its rather 3rd world countries that don't dispose of it correctly. So it doesn't matter if you use plastic or paper straws

Thanks dude! Ur vids are so random, unique and strangely relaxing. Keep'em coming 🙌🏼
I did not expect this video to make me emotional lmao. You built such a beautiful fire for the cremation, RIP little guy and all of the other turtles who were killed back in the day
What a strange soup! Just broth and turtle chunk!
I've never even heard of Green Turtle soup! Even at 50yrs old I'm still learning new things. Great Channel dude!
Used to be very common and popular in the USA. Thank god they weren't wiped out. This is the crazy thing about sharks too, they are killed for multiple reasons but for eating it makes no sense. Shark meat is flavourless and can be toxic. If sharks go extinct our oceans are doomed.
this video was so heartwarming, thank you so much for this... i was very upset earlier 'cuz of some family stuff, and watching this before bed made me lot calmer and happier. what a lovely channel.
Same! Had a pretty rough night tonight myself. This guy really has some great content! Hope things are getting better for ya. 😊
You should be on TV, you're way more entertaining and educational than the rubbish we're forced to watch on mainstream channels. Keep it up sir.
The harsh conditions of the dishwasher cause the aluminum to oxidize, resulting in dark smudges or white spots. This effect is amplified with every cycle through the dishwasher. The first run-through may not change the appearance much. But, each cycle will increase the oxidization of the pans. Never use a dishwasher with aluminum. Great video btw!
I thought Turtle Soup was a TMNT meme, but this proves that eating turtles was once commonplace.
If I remember correctly once we discovered the galapogas turtle we hunted them until extinction because of how amazing they tasted, I think it was around the 1600s.
I enjoyed the fire part as much as the turtle meat part, I think because you reminded me of how my father used to live starting fires for his various outdoor projects. Cool watching it get going again with more oxygen and how the rain didn’t put it out.
I love this dude and I wish he was my best friend.
Same here!!! He’s just an authentic dude with an awesome personality!! Great taste too! Seriously your videos are soothing to my soul, thank you for being you.
I think he would be really fun to hangout with.
@@coal7888 Oh, hell yeah. He's handy and he doesn't give a good goddamn what anyone thinks of him. My kind of dude. Can you believe he is 21 years old? That can't be right!!
It’s the same with old piano ivory. You can’t sell it, but you are allowed to give it away. You can’t profit from it.
this guy is so real, I love it
That's why he's always been one of me and my uncle's favorite channels, just so real and entertaining. There's no BS, no filter.
They make can openers that undo the can lip instead of cutting the can.
It literally undoes the sealed top of can (or bottom) and after you lift top off and empty can, the top goes right back on and it’s completely unnoticeable the top was ever messed with.
And no part of the opener touches any part of the label at all. Making it impossible to damage label at all and giving you the option to open either top or bottom and still having a complete untouched looking can after emptied.
Post turned into The Shredder. "Tonight I dine on turtle soup!"
Respect for giving him/her a final send off.
So much dedication and attention to detail in your videos. I appreciate all of your work!
This might the coolest find yet, Post! Thanks for sharing this with us.
Was anyone else disappointed with the broth to turtle ratio? I’d be so disappointed if I bought a can of soup and that’s all that was in it. And it’s so bizarre they just tossed in big chunks like that.
Edit: aww, I love that you did a little ceremony for the turtle. ❤
Yeah that soup was mostly broth. I’d be pissed at that.
it was the '50... either you re hardy or you do cook something else with it...
I wonder if was meant for you to toss in your own veggies or something
I bet that would be slow to digest. Haha
🤣
I am just glad there are still wholesome smart people out there. Keep up the great content thank you.
Coming with the turtle facts ~ you have one of the best youtube channels
I love your channel! This may be my favorite video. The special burial was a lovely touch. ❤
When you were walking across the yard i was thinking "he's NOT gonna try and feed that turtle to his turtle" lol
🫶🏼🤯🤯🤯Wild to think that when the turtle lost his/her life, I bet it never could have imagined after being canned and intended to be someone’s meal, that it would survive another 70 something years, and never end up getting eaten but instead be found by one of the most animal loving people, and be properly laid to rest in a beautiful hand made fire, and not alone but in the company of the famous Post 10 by it’s side ushering it into the afterlife.❤
I can't like this comment enough.
Another winner! You come up with the most unusual topics. You should make science videos for schools. The kids would learn so much and love watching! The burial fire was nice. The turtle will be happy now. Cool arrangement for keeping plenty of water on your lilac. Thanks,
I never would have thought green sea turtles were once turned into canned food. Loved the cremation at the end, such a fitting and respectful way to lay the turtle to rest. I wonder what it's story was.
I remember watching ninja turtles as a kid and they would say things about turtle soup.. I never knew it was a real thing, ungh!
The ticking of the clock in the background is the perfect vibe for this video.
I love how he just, slid it in there, the old f$&@ you to Charles for playing a part in it🤣🤣🤣
I love your videos thanks for bringing light to things that we don’t usually think about! Very informative things in this video!
So since I do a lot of thrift store hunting I did a lookup of your can opener! It's a Rival model 782 - series (which can also be 781) from the date of 1970. The color looks like almond that may have discolored. None of the sites give an exact date. Lastly that turtle meat under the microscope looks like abstract cave paintings! Haha!
I love white objects that seem to have yellowed with age. Or any color for that matter. Seeing the age on something makes me feel and respect the age of an item.
It definitely has discolored over the years, just compare the front to the sides of it. I’m assuming it originally was white.
Back to the earth of witch it came. Released from purgatory.👍
Man I love that you do research and share the stats with your viewers that's is alot more then others do and we get to learn new things with actual facts from real research. Thanks
Thats crazy man and i didnt know there was mas produced sea turtle soup keep up the grind
Really glad to see when you post an upload. Your content is always really interesting interesting. There was something oddly satisfying about watching you chop up that firewood.
My heart breaks knowing that's an endangered animal in that can. I'm glad you gave him a better sendoff than feeding him to the toilet.
We know you love the old can openers, but I think you owe it to yourself and your purpose for these videos and your efforts to use something like a P38 or P51 or something to open cans with. Something to protect the can as much as possible
Idk man, one bad push with a p51 while you’re going too fast and you can skip over the rim and scratch the can up. I honestly think he’d be better off with a safety can opener that cuts the whole seal off and leaves no sharp edges. Pretty sure the drive gear wouldn’t touch the paper, even with an electric one
@@guitarguy42394 I agree
Thank you for sharing another awesome video and giving that turtle a proper send off to the big ocean in the sky.
I'm so grateful for Post
At the end of a long week I always binge all his channels
Thanks for posting Post
Someone has to teach that young man how to swing an axe!
I love the rain as much as you do, Post. I like falling asleep to it. And it doesn’t rain much where I live. So I use the Cozy Rain channel on CZcams to help me fall asleep.
Nice to see that poor turtle get a decent send off. And those lead levels, omg. Wonder if that was a hidden source of lead poisoning back in the day?
I always learn something new from your videos. Thank you! 🙂
Need not look hard. It was used for a lot of things
They used to make cans that way but i think they stopped
Channels like this are like the gems of CZcams for me. Quality content from passionate people 🤞
Let’s all appreciate how real and authentic this man is he is genuinely himself and that’s why we love him, this is hands down the best Channel on CZcams.
True !
Historical too😏
He also runs a channel called “post10” where he unclogs drains. It’s super authentic and relaxing
very hard working, smart and interesting man, he explains in detail his videos on all his channels.
He is one of the best ppl to watch on YT. He makes my day.
Yes, I agree. Nice of you to respect the turtle that meat came from. Thank you for the hard work and interesting video.
I appreciate your videos man! Keep it up. Very interesting to see old canned food and your voice is nice to listen to. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for another great video Post! Your videos are always interesting and entertaining!!
You the realest dude I ever saw, Post. Thank you for sharing stuff with us.
I really enjoy your channel! It's so interesting to see the vintage food products and packaging.
We used to go down to the Florida Keys and have turtle, that was one of the main draws back in the day…
This is what its all about educational an nutritional. Peace and love from New Zealand.
Thank you for respecting that turtle. Your videos are great!
The sound of a crackling fire is so nice and so is the sound of rain. double win!
Rest in peace beautiful green turtle. Probably the last part of it's body remaining.
You’re a good man, post
Reminds me of the camp fires my Dad used to make when we went camping. Never bored with your videos..
Great honorable send off for the poor turtle. I think the log being on the ground made it harder to split by absorbing some of the impact instead of the splitting maul sailing through it if it was on another log.
Never knew such a soup was a thing. Very cool find!
Great video man! Your channel is one of my favorites and fits right into my interests which is collecting toy cars and action figures. Thanks for all you do, you have inspired me to keep going with my collecting 👍
its nice to see someone so similar minded. Nice to know you through youtube Post10, you're a real solid guy.
i would have emptied into a pyrex dish and definitely considrrd tasted it. all the sherry and wine in the broth seem to have helped the preservation. and like when else would you get opportunity to try it, controversial as it may be. love the way you livin your life man, youre an inspiration.
This guy is embarrassing from drive-a-tive to the can opener destroying his precious can to dumping it into that disgusting pan. It should have been eaten. Total loser.
Edit. Yeah an inspiration to not be like.
Wow this was a unique find ,never seen anything like this ..cool video
My Jamaican mom said that turtle soup is one of the most delicious things she's ever eaten.
am i the only one who feals like the sound of a fire cracking is peaceful and relaxing
I always look forward to these videos, thank you!
Even tho I’m subscribed and have notifications turned on…I still check everyday to see if one of your three channels has the blue dot by it for a new video lol that’s how much I love the content! Don’t ever stop buddy.
This is incredible you tube content. I hope that as you grow you dont start falling into trends. Just be you
Loved the video. It was very interesting. Beautiful place you have.
Well that can of turtle soup was super interesting I did some research on it fascinating ..history on that topic great vid cheers from NewZealand 🤗
Southern Maine here.
Cool videos.
Subbed.
Happy new year bro
Listen…u know I support u 💯… soooo I just let it play on mute and left the room 🤢🙂
that’s not much turtle and a lot of broth, that turtle died for nothing. This is extremely interesting and I didn’t know that you can’t own the feathers of an endangered bird even if you had them before. I love your old can opener, I want one for my own Apartment! Preferably 1950s mint green
The only people who can possess eagle feathers are Native Americans, who use them in sacred ceremonies. Otherwise, you cannot, even if someone gives them to you, or you find them in an attic somewhere. If you ever do find some, you can entrust them to a Native American elder, who can pass them on to the proper people.
I had turtle soup in Wilmington, Delaware in 1977. It was served with a dollop of sour cream on top and a little bit of sherry poured over it. It wasn't sea turtle though it was the turtle from the ponds around Wilmington country club
Poor green turtles. 🐢 All they wanted to do was eat pizza and fight crime. 😢
The thoughts of thinking a turtle would be appetizing.
I ate it. Dog too
Yo this is cool watching all these videos seeing the old canned goods and artwork on the labels
What a hidden gem of a channel. I'm on the edge of my seat with that microscope footage sheesh.
The turtle was really interesting to see. Strangely I didn't expect it to look so real. You were soaked at the end. 😆😟 A bummer as you always make such gorgeous fires. You deserved to just get to enjoy it.
yeah i was expecting it to be fairly processed,
nope there was chunks of skin and all
Bro someone has to show you how to properly swing an axe.
Start with one hand at the base of the handle, one hand near the head. Bring the axe up over your head in a circular motion, and slide your hand down the haft during your down swing, transferring the energy of the motion from your body into momentum focused on the head of the axe. Both hands should be near the bottom of the axe handle at the end of your swing
It also helps if the wood is properly seasoned. Not all dead wood is dry.
And don't split wood on grass if you can help it. The ground is absorbing a lot of the energy from the impact.
I have a pair of cowboy boots from the 1960s made of sea turtle. Very beautiful.
i been watching ur videos for years. easily the best channel on youtube
This was a really fun video, I really enjoyed it 😁
RIP Mr/Mrs/Miss Turtle.
We hardly knew ye.

Thanks Post 10. Beautiful camp fire. From New York
You should use a p38 can opener on cans like that, it will keep from damaging the can the p51 can opener is the larger of the military can openers
It's preserved on the internet now forever, these physical cans won't last forever
Very true.
You can always get a reproduction label made for it i guess
I am old enough to remember those can openers. 1970’s.
Watching you split logs is oddly satisfying.
My heart sank when I saw the label ripped. That must've been so painful for you! I'm so sorry 😭
the second half of this video was very cozy
I was waiting for you to do a taste test, at the same time I'm glad you didn't.
