Awesome look at the history of Blue Beetle and his figures! Loved your enthusiasm at the end. I loved Infinite Crisis, he was truly a badass in that! I did enjoy the Countdown stuff afterwards though. New issue each week was pretty exciting for some reason . . . most of the time.

@@CarbonScoringit took me a while the first time a few years ago to find his grave but when I came back to visit early spring this year I found him. He's right over the chain at Saint Mary's catholic cemetery (which fun fact is across the street from his child hood town house.) As soon I saw him I saluted (coming from the army myself) and just sat there and thanked him for everything. Tried not to cry but I did because without Steve I wouldn't have gotten into art as a child and at least make my life a little better while in these dark times.

The bug ship is only rivaled by the batmobile as the coolest ride in all of comics. I became a blue beetle fan from the brave and the bold cartoon and really enjoyed learning the history of the character, even in the cartoon Ted heroically sacrificed himself cementing his legacy as a true hero for multiple generations. The beetle will never be forgotten

Jaime Reyes has been one of my favorite heroes ever since I saw him on Brave and the Bold as a kid. I'd LOVE a deep dive on him from you!

I was introduced to BB in Crisis and absolutely loved him. I’ve always gone for street level heroes with a lot of gadgets and I loved his costume. And when Secret Origins #2 came out with Gil Kane on pencils, I became a fan for life. I totally read his series and was sad when it ended. I was into the Justice League for a little bit but when it became the BWAHAHA League, I bailed. BB has not been the same sense and now we have Jaime, who is fine, but I want Ted back as a street level, science hero who gets some actual respect from others.

I remember when I was watching your DCUC mystery box I was like “man this guy knows his stuff. Some of these characters definitely deserve their own videos.”
I was extatic when you made the Beta Ray Bill video. He’s one of my favorite comic characters as well. I love the Simonson run and Argent Star. So if a 4th world video is anything like that then that’d be fantastic!

Awesome deep dive on blue beetle! Did you know that McFarlane did do the transparent goggles for Bart Allen impulse figure, which is weird why he didn't do it for the second release of Ted. Love these videos and would love to see Jamie Reyes be covered as well as the other Charlton characters
Yeah - that goggles thing kinda pisses me off. More character deep dives to come!

I love DC Universe Classics - people knock them for using a similar style - but if you look at group shots of heroes in comics 99% of them have the same body type!
I agree - I think they look great together and there is so much variety, they make for a fantastic display!
Great video. Did you know BB (and other Charlton heroes) appeared briefly in titles from AC Comics, just before they went to DC? AmeriComics (#3, I believe) had a story featuring Ted and Dan (sort of) while a second tale focused on Dan alone. At least one other comic featured the Charlton characters. I think it was called The Sentinels of Justice, or something like that.
I came across that in my research, but I left it out to try to keep the story streamlined - great info, though and thanks for reminding everyone - these characters have such an insane history!
Love to see you do a video on Shazam, the character and his lore doesn't get nearly enough love or respect! Plus, there's so much twist and turns in his history.

These figures are all so cool! I do totally relate to your gripes with the McFarlane Multiverse ones. I think the whole line has slightly warped priorities and most of the figures I look at just end up seeming off in some way.
They keep sneakily surprising me - I just grabbed Firestorm…
I would love a deep dive into Batman villains. I remember the history channel special on behind the mask and showed the different physic disorders that each villain had and how they were the opposite of Batman like if Batman was evil he would be the penguin (rich guy who uses money for bad instead of good) riddler with his intellect but he uses it to solve crime instead of cause crime stuff like that
That would be an awesome series of videos!

Kinda surprised you didn't bring up the minimates since I know you love those, but this is a great video overall! I ADORE Ted Kord's Blue Beetle, especially thanks in part to the recent DC Showcase short of him (which is very reminiscent of the 60's spider-man cartoon). He just captures a type of classic and cheese that I love in heroes and while I knew he had an incarnation beforehand, this video gave me quite a good history lesson on his first few takes!
again, great video! I own the B&G Two pack from Mcfarlane, but I may just pick up the Blue Beetle Ship after seeing this (and maybe some figures to put in it once they release Booster Gold and maybe The Question (who btw, i would also love to see a vid on if he has enough merch for that))

Mcfarlane’s Impulse figure has the translucent lenses, so I have no idea why he didnt do it with BB or Booster Gold. He has a modern Booster coming and theyre still painted. I love Mcfarlane’s figs much more than DC Direct or Mattel/Hasbro due to the superior import quality articulation, but the inconsistency with little details like the goggles (or putting Alan Scott GL’s power ring on the wrong hand) drives me crazy.
Check out CZcamsr Bones and the Necro Zoo’s video where he customized the Mcfarlane BB by replacing those painted googles with the ones from Impulse. It’s not as clean as it really should be but the look of it is absolutely amazing. I love the figure as-is but it’s ashame Mcfarlane didn’t do this given it has been done within the same line and around the same point in the line’s history.

Please, do more videos like this. Here are some suggestions: Green Lantern (Hal), Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Arrow...and, for some odd choices: Firestorm, Captain Atom, Creeper and Lobo.

And let me suggest you some great New 52 comics: Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman, GL (although if you read Blackest Night I can imagine you finished the Geoff John´s run that ended there), Superman Unchained, Superman Doomed, Red Lanterns and Earth 2.

I wished I had the Mattel DC figures because they did look cool but at least I do have a Blue Beetle action figure which is from McFarlane Toys.despite the 7 inch scale which everyone hates.

Even though sadly the DCEU may be over with, But at least Blue Beetle is still going to be in James Gunn's DCU movies somewhere in there because I like the character and I know in the movie it's Jaime Reyes not Ted Kord.

I have a feeling that wont happen after BB bombed. I fear Superman is going to crash and burn, so Gunn’s tenure will be short lived. There is too much conflict going in and firing Cavill has had a huge impact on how well it’s going to do. Im afraid the DC movie rebirth will get canceled before it has time to get going. Its both Gunn’s fault and timing given comic book renaissance is winding down. We’ll know if it still has any gas when Deadpool & Wolverine comes out. It’s either going to make a billion+ or its going to peter out at only $400 million.
Only $400 million. What an absurd statement. I remember like it was yesterday when Batman’s first couple films had $55 million budgets and $400 million was still best of all time box office. $165 million was considered a huge success too.

Man i love the way steve ditko designed his characters, blue beetle's suit looks vintage and modern at the same time, it's timeless just like doctor strange and spider-man.
