I'm just hoping for the H2 helmet in infinite, it's my favorite iteration of the ODST.
We're supposed to be getting all the armor back, but hopefully we get all the ODST armor too.
And I hope it has H3ODST’s attachments too (Buck, Romeo, Dutch, and Mickey’s)

Looks like we're getting a lot of the Reach era armor back, so maybe.
It is a ten year life cycle game.
So far, we've got Reach's helmet for Mk. V[B], and the as of yet unavailable Firefall for Mk. VII.
I wish Firefall was more identifiable as an ODST type helmet. I would be more likely to mistake it for CQB unless viewing it specifically from the side.

What I’m getting from this video is that Eric nylund created ODSTs. I knew that guy was the best thing to happen to halo. Always liked his novels better than any of the other halo writers
His work is quite literally the foundation for the entire rest of the lore. If you notice, what little lore CE added was mostly retconned, such as antimatter charges
I love the look of the H2A helmet. It reminds me strongly of the helmets in Metroid.
The 3/Reach helmet was perfect design. I love how it has that indentation on the visor that allows for them to look almost straight down without issue.

It’s amazing that even with these noticeable changes over time, they can all be recognized as ODST.
God ODST is so amazing from the armor to the concept of sending “average joes” to do what Spartans sometimes fail at. They have such an amazing concept and I can totally get behind the ODST kinda like a swat member doing a delta forces job. Plus the sleek design of the armor just really is my type of armor and the lore basically shafted some ODST to the point they rebel to become really dangerous enemies to the unsc or become legends dying for what they believe in.
REACH Campaign is my favorite ODST design in general
I remember very well that ODST was my preferred armor in Reach for a very long time, or at least just the helmet.
I personally REALLY like the first odst Helmet, especially the remastered version.

I was surprised you didn't Include the variants of Odst helmets like Dutch, Mickey, Romeo, and Dares Helmet. Dutch had a Very Unique helmet you never see again.

Thought I'd share that the Gen 1 air assault helmet was developed as an improvement to standard ODST, paired with their similar features this leads me to believe that the original halo 2 helmets are actually air assault
In full logic, if that was the design for the O.D.S.T on reach, then O.D.S.T in halo 2 is void / invalid, Halo 3 is the Current to Reach while Reach was the previous, persay they possibly rounded the visor and helmet more from Reaches design to ricochet incoming rounds.
My thought is that since even the ODSTs of the Spirit of Fire use the H2A helmet, it was the one before the H3 design, however it was either experimental or just becoming mass produced, so Reach got it first

I would like to see more ODST formations to make them separate from the rest. You got Helljumpers which are the traditional ODST that stick to drop pod assaults, the Bullfrogs which are Jump Pack specialists. Others I would like to see are Chameleons which uses a UNSC reversed engineered version of active cammo, the Pack Rats which salvage Covenant and Forerunner technology to include the Jackal's shield, and snake eaters which are a ATV mounted scout sniper team.
H2A is my personal favorite
The black ops feel makes them stand apart as a specialized stealth, tactical role than normal grunts and loud Spartans
It's the bridge between Marine and Spartan
The usage of camo BDU's underneath tactical armor like Marines, but with full face coverage and a weightier armor like Spartans
And that violet color is just heavenly
I’m surprised that you didn’t mention Air Assault or the Recruit helmets as a side note. They seem related in design especially the recruit, as Spartan 4s are mostly ODST. Still a fantastic video on my favorite armor in all of Halo.
Edit: Speaking of which I forgot there’s also the Fire Team Raven Arcade game which also has a different helmet design
I'm pretty sure Air Assault is actually canonically an evolution of ODST.

I still love the halo 5 helljumper more than any other ODST helmet. There’s something about it’s shape that gives it more personality and makes soldiers wearing it look less like background canon fodder to be outdone by Spartans

The Halo 3/ODST helmet is iconic and easily the best but weirdly enough I really dig the Halo 4 one as weird as it looks lol

Agreed, Halo Reach ODSTs were the best in design by far. Seeing as how the UNSC had a much more beefy and tactical look in Halo Reach, making the armor and helmet of the ODSTs look just that was perfect.

I don't necessarily like the helmet for it, but the interceptor set of armor is very cool looking and unique with it's bulky, round design. The back thrusters on it look so sleek, almost like marine creatures such as a dolphin. It is also completely original and does not seem to be inspired from anything we've seen before in Halo which is good. That visor does look an awful lot like the one in Titanfall though...
@@poonyapthegrunt3423 It's pretty neat with the large NVG like piece on the forehead. It's remeniscent of what Romeo was sporting in Halo ODST. I like that it's not going overboard with it like the scanner helmet. Jesus that thing was ugly.
I used to rock the operator set, full pilot style. Still my favourite armor at least from Halo 4

Always great to see your vids, I can see why you left out variants such as ODST's squad members, reach attachments or the fireteam raven guys. Probably would of take ages to explain the different gizmos of essentially the same helmet.

I'd love to see an update to this video including the new ODST helmets (like fireteam Raven), it's derivatives (Infinite's Firefall) and also things you forgot/chose not to include in this video (such as Dutch's up armored helmet)
Sorry for text wall I'm just rambling.
I really like the gear/armour the h2a ODSTs wear on their body. They look tough but very mobile, where 3-Reach ODST armour is more bulky (but still awesome and I love the helmets). I really like the idea of ODST specialisation, and the specialisation of human infantry in general in halo.
It puts them at more of an opposite to the covenant, who've had no need to adapt due to their strategies and capabilities of overwhelming force and, advanced technology allowing for armour to be suited to a variety of environments/situations-but perhaps not effective in all of them. Overall it means we see somewhat less variation in covenant amour designs, most being aesthetic. Humanity isn't afforded that luxury, they need to specialise.
But, damn, do ODSTs look good doing it.

On a different note for the flashlight attachment that's supposedly a sensor of some sort. you can use the same attachment on the military police helmet in Halo reach my guess is it's as you stated a light of sorts, probably infrared for use in VISR which would actually explain the increase in light though none of the hell jumpers in ODST had obvious infrared lights on there helmets. perhaps it was integrated into the helmet?
addition: the "Flashlight" is actually a Hardened Uplink and Remote sensor rolled into one... odd. what it does most know not... but thats apparently what it is.

The Helljumper helmet reminds me of Cheburashak, with those big protruding bits on the sides
The “knobs” on the side of the nightfall look like pin locks, they help keep your visor clear with a motorcycle helmet if it’s cold outside so you don’t fog up and loose visibility

Enjoyed the Video! Love the ODSTs and hope to see more of them and Alpha 9 in the future games and media. Also totally Agree with Reach being the best as I see it as more of a evolution fitting the aggressive style of ODSTs while still respecting the Halo 3 model (which is also runner up for my favorite as well).

My favorite ODSTs are Halo Reach, and Halo 2. Halo reach because they don’t seem too bulky and closer to marines, but still having black and white colors with the bright blue visors. Same for Halo 2.

I can understand why people may dislike 4 and 5s but I love to imagine them as variants. Like 4s could be a vehicle specialist or cqb variant with the larger more open visor allowing for great field of view, or 5s hell jumper being a variant for hazardous environments with the larger cheek filters and smaller visor to reduce chances of foreign materials damaging the eye protection.

I love the white detailing on the bottom of the Halo 2A, it probably my second favorite behind the Halo Reach ones
The little knobs on the Nightfall helmet are wipers. Magnetic bits on both sides of the visor that you can use to defog your visor. They're used irl
ODST is my favorite halo game. Bar none. Best music, best story, good weapon slection, amazing story. It’s a PERFECT game.
The Halo 2 & Halo 2 Anniversary ODST Designs are in my opinion the best looking ODST armour. It just looks so damn good. I really hope they add the armour in Halo Infinite.

I generally feel that Halo CE and Halo 2 doesn't get the lo0ve they deserve for their art style. My favorite ODST is Halo 2 Anniversary followed by the original Halo 2. I never really liked the Halo 3 design and it's kinda dissapointing that so many consider Halo 3 to be the baseline for Halo. To me Halo 2A is the definitive HD version of the Halo artstyle. Give the Halo 2A marines the gray and brown paintjob from Halo CE and we're golden :D
