What if Halo Infinite Had a GUNSMITH

- The Weapons of Halo are one of - if not the most iconic part of Halo. But if it's one thing they all have in common, it's the lack of customization. While Arena Multiplayer works best without loadouts, there are other parts of Halo that could use a feature like the Gunsmith from Call of Duty Modern Warfare. In this video I'll show you how this could be implemented in the next entry in the franchise, Halo Infinite.

A spartan laser with a bayonet, an alternative to that new anti vehicle weapon the banished used in the shadows of reach book
thar would actually help too because if its going to be a heavy long range vehicle killer it should be able to kill up close quickly to make up for the slow fire time, making sure you can actually defend yourself while using it
No stock, charge rate increase that decreases damage, textured grip for ready speed
Gives it better use at midrange and anti vehicle strafing, perfect for players who aren’t sniper oriented (cough cough me)
It would be nice to customized guns, however people are upset because they can't duel wield nor play as Elites in Halo Infinite.
Yeah I’d see why they’d be upset, it’s something people have been asking for almost a decade and they still can’t deliver even after using up a $500 million budget and 6 years of development

I hope they bring bake the same kind of different weapon varients in infinite, because that part of halo 5 was pretty cool ngl
They said they are in the newest #Ask343 video
They said they’re coming back
They are and I loved that. This gives 343 the opportunity to add not only new variations to Infinite’s arsenal at launch, it also gives them the opportunity to bring in legacy weapons, like the classic magnum and M90 shotgun, post launch as well.
Perhaps we'll get warzone without the bullshit lootboxes?
Already the gun in the thumbnail looks awesome and like it was pulled from an infinite leak.
I really love these because they all just FEEL like Halo and FEEL like they'd fit right into the game. Imagine just pulling up to a base and interacting with a marine at the armory and he just offers you all these different customizations and add-ons from blueprints you find out doing missions. That way it'll promote exploration, which doesn't really need promoting with how huge the map will be, but it also promotes being creative with your gameplay.
This would be cool in Campaign as well. Perhaps this could be the “Upgrades” feature where we can improve on Chief’s armor as well as unlock attachments for each weapon
I like the design of the commando rifle, it looks like a cross between the Assault Rifle and the DMR. People seem to complain that the design isn't in the Universe of Halo, but I think it works just fine. Plus the weapon seems more suited towards special units like the ODSTs and Spartans. With customization for the weapons if 343 and Microsoft decides to add it in would make the gameplay more interesting in previous installments.
I feel like the Commando has a sort of pre-covenant war vibe/insurrectionist vibe to it. I like it.
Well you can’t just have the same weapons in every game of a series. Plus in a universe as large as halo there is a LOT of space to add in new weapons. Like the new sidekick pistol, it adds variety instead of just using a magnum or some variation of it.
@@selvbilde253 but muh iCoNiC
Imagine if someone were to charge at you with the weapon on the thumbnail. Even if you manage to dodge the bayonet, there's a scope so the user can shoot you from afar. If he/she misses then, you get nuked with the grenade launcher. There is no escape...
Looks cool btw.
Edit: There is definitely no escape with that 80 round mag...
Yeah I realize now it might be a bit OP lol
@@Wernissage It would be funny if you tried to wield that weapon you also have to get rid of the other weapon, so basically you can only use that monstrosity and nothing else until it either runs out or you pick up another weapon
@@arandomraichu230 Now THAT is balancing.
They could possibly add simple attachments if they were pickup
I think they said they were but rather you pick up the entire weapon, like to use an assault rifle with a red dot and suppressor you pick it up from the map and replace the AR you spawned with. Though I do think picking up attachments themselves like you're thinking would be cooler, especially if they allowed multiple attachments so if you stayed alive long enough and scavenged the map you could turn your AR into a psuedo power weapon of sorts and once you die it becomes a contested weapon pick up like power weapons tend to be
@@PrettyDamnDandy So like Cod warzone where if you find a gun with attachments that’s what you get
Buk Lau Yeah pretty much, that's how it is in halo 5's arena gamemodes, things like silenced ARs spawn around the map for pick up
@@PrettyDamnDandy It’s not a bad idea but I kinda want weapons with attachments only on certain gamemodes

This is genius, You really caught me off guard when you incorporated the ma5b barrel on the assault rifle
Would definitely like more of this with Covie/Forerunner weapons!
Imagine a master key in Halo Infinite that used the old shotgun, so even if we can’t get the full gun, we can at least have it in the form of an attachment
This could be so cool for custom games, forge and just in general cosmetics too. I think evety attachment havign more downside then upside for the base weapon but having cool neiche uses would be a PERFECT adition
It wouldn’t be a downside at all.
@@justchilling704 i meant in a sense of balance, not as in an adition to the game.
I love these, but there's one little thing: for the heavy Assault Rifle build, you missed the chance to give it the classic 60-round magazine from Combat Evolved! I think that would have been a cool little fan-service touch.
Considering that Halo Reach concept art showed something similar with weapon attachments being prominent, I would love to see this in infinite
imo, i wouldn’t want it to be done in a cod type way that actually changes stats because then it may make certain guns redundant. i would love this sort of system if it was purely cosmetic tho and i think it’s a fun idea to play around with!
Yeah just retooling your guns to certain looks and aspects
I agree on that except for the matter of the suppressor. I think it should keep you off radar when crouched and you should in case they implement a firefight or warzone style like H5 make it so AI enemies don't react as quickly to your presence being known.
Yeah purely cosmetic could even be used for multiplayer
An, I think changing things up could be cool
The only cosmetics I'd be down for is making the weapons the weapons resemble past ones, like the MA40 resembling the MA5C or MA5D, the MK50 looking like the M6C, the BR75 resembling the BR55 HB (like which was shown here) and the Sniper Rifle looking like Halo 1's Sniper Rifle for example.
Your editing and just over all topic layout and planning is underrated as hell. You definitely deserve more subscribers
Thank you!
Would love to see this, it would also alleviate the issue of "classic" style weapons needing to be implemented as their own weapons. Want the 3 or 5 BR? Make it in the gunsmith. Really hope 343 isn't afraid to experiment when it comes to non arena playlists
Your Halo videos are genuinely interesting. Especially your redesign videos.
I'd love to see something like this in Infinite. Weapon customization has always been my favorite in Halo 5.
Not bad idea, but I prefferd each gun has its unique gunplay. Halo 5 had too much useless variations of weapons IMO
agreed. we don't need these type of variations
Personally i think it'd make a great additions for customs and forge maps, especially if you can place weapons then change their attachments.
i do however agree for comp and normal social games their addition is rather redundant. perhaps for a special social games gamemode?
Exactly, this isn’t CoD where there are a million of each weapon type, this is Halo, an arena shooter that should have a tight weapon sandbox where every weapon has it’s own niche.
@@Slender_Man_186 and such MW2019 esc things should be regulated to forge, customs and maybe a special social games playlist.
I think expanding the sandbox even if it means introducing a gunsmith would be rather nice, but it shouldn't be THE main mode, rather it should simply be their for those who wish to use it. also the attachments should actually look halo esc, not Cod like, a red dot should look like the red dot on the M7S from H3 ODST, a 2X scope should look like the BR55 or M6 scope, a 3X optic should resemble the M392's scope, a variable zoom optic should LOOK like it's been yoinked off of a SRS99.
This is something that would be cool in like a side game, rather a mainline one. I may be the only one to say this but a Battlefield-esque style Halo game set before the Human-Covenant War and set when the UNSC was focused against the Insurrectionists would be perfect for a Gun Smith type of feature
You should definitely do a Banished/ Covenant version of this video. It was very interesting to watch
Imagine if you could do weapon customisation like this that doesn’t effect gameplay in infinite. I just wanna show off the tacticool bulldog without damaging the gameplay
Imagine a skin based of the English military’s ceremonial uniforms
Truly a gentleman’s weapon
Please do “redesigning Promethean Knights and Guardians” next..
I remember Eldewrito had a cool silenced BR with a 2-burst shot, maybe we can have some of the Eldewrito variants of a heavier BR or DMR that does more damage
You know what’s crazy about this idea. It fixes map balancing. Because you can literally tailor all the weapons to act how you’d like without directly changing their stats. Not only that, but would allow those that want a more classic map look and feel to customize for that, or if they want a halo 5 ish feel they can go towards that. As a forge tool this would be amazing if they did it.
I still surprise you haven't been hired for something yet.
I think the prospect of using attachments that make the weapon resemble or even feel like legacy weapons or maybe weapons in lore we haven't seen in games yet is just brilliant. You are doing the lord's work my friend.
Thank you!!
I think a Heavy Bulldog would be cool that resembles the classic Reach shotgun and we could have a classic Halo 2 looking Shotgun as it’s own pickup and is best suited for fighting the Flood.
By lore, there is customization. The AR can have a grenade launcher or a shotgun under it. And this is what is at the top of my head.
It’d be cool to see this but with banished/covie weapons!
I’d also be cool seeing Anti-Flood builds, which I think the Promethean Bulldog build would be great at, as well as anything that increases mag size.
Suppressor usually improves range by giving the bullet more time in the barrel before exiting the tip
At this point wernissage has started his own cult and once infinite reaches pc there’s certain to be an almost mini-SVP3-esque Wernissage overhaul mod
I personally would like a weapon customization system like something in Fallout 4, like a crafting table or the use of some 3D printer device, so you wouldn't have to depend on some sort of npc with the sole purpose of this. Plus it makes sense that Spartans would be capable of customizing their weapons if they have the right tools.
This video is awesome dude, well done. Being a massive Halo and CoD MW fan, I would not mind this in multiplayer. I personally think that would be sick. The idea of making any model of halo weapon or mashing up older models sounds so cool to me.
MA40 One Man Army would be too heavy because there's a bayonet and a grenade launcher at the front. The weight distribution would be uneven and an average marine would have difficulty aiming with that.
There again, it would be John-117 wielding it so maybe its possible?
Out of all the new Halo infinite weapons I want to try it, The bulldog shotgun looks the most interesting.
btw just so you know IRL suppressors increase "range" (range is in quotes because in real life range is determined by the shooters skill more than anything, primarily because of bullet velocity, bullets don't really lose damage), accuracy and reduce recoil, this is because they are effectively a barrel extension, although they do lead to the barrel getting hotter due to trapping the exhaust gases meaning you can't fire it as long (hotter barrels have a chance of breaking, jamming causing the bullet to cook off and heating the bullet (heating the bullet leads to increase velocity but decreases accuracy).
You made me realise how much I would love to own a lil Plasma grenade or ODST helmet charm haha
The charms tho!😂
You should have made the BR fuel Rod purple like Halo CE's since it acted like a grenade launcher.
The MA40 is probably going under it's UNSC Army designation, the same way the MA5A went by "MA37" in Halo: Reach. So with more UNSC Navy-style plating, the MA40 could easily become the MA7A
I really love the idea of this system for campaign, but if managed incorrectly for PvP, it could become a meta-dominated experience. I like the way TheRussianBadger described halo as being an equal playing field.
Can’t wait for the Covenant weapon customization!
New leaks form this flight have confirmed that (although purely cosmetic) you will be able to change things such as barrel and stock on your guns, those two as far as I know from the leaks, and they were showcased on the AR
2 months to go :(

Very glad your channel is getting attention! Whatever you put out, I trust it to be quality. I would love to see more of this kind of video, as well as anything else you come up with :)
I’d certainly love to see this in Infinite
I love the look of the VK78 Sniper!
Yes, to most of these designs, just yes!
More of this would be great! Some older weapons given the gunsmith treatment would be great too!!!
I'd love to see more ideas like this i love how good your art is for the series you have done so far.
The one man army build caught me extremely off guard lmao.
I actually really like this idea and if it was only cosmic for some gamemodes but in something like Spartan ops or firefight having an effect of changing the stats in a similar way you describe. It would be pretty kickass. And actually for multiplayer they could have separate could have separate playlists. For the gamemodes and stuff.
Seeing this post-launch and loving the concept more than ever. Imagine a gametype where all of these attachments/modifications spawn on the map just like weapons and equipment do, and you pick them up as you move through the map, lose em when you die, etc. Introduces deeper weapon gameplay which still adhering to the core area sandbox gameplay loop. Call it "Modular Slayer".
Could also give birth to the alternate side of Halo that brings back loadouts from H:R and H4 but expands on them (in very very separate playlists from the normal Halo stuff , of course).
The only thing I would say is that the mobility bar is essentially useless as you Spartan will move and turn exactly the same whether your using a sidekick or a SPNKr. The only exceptions being the mounted weapons.
This was so well made i almost forgot that i wasnt just looking at the best loadout for a game
I was thinking of the Gunsmith from Ghost Recon games rather than Cod to be honest but glad to see the idea concept for Halo.
that ODST BR is something I actually want. honestly can we just get an ODST 2 game? please?
Dude why are all your vids so well made and fun to watch?

The Swiss Army Knife of Assault Rifles.
Really puts a whole new meaning on "jack of all trades" huh?
The Misriah Armory mod for Fallout 4 offered the best customization for Halo Reach - styled weapons. Whether or not you like Fallout, the range of this mod is something you should check out if you are a halo fan
Fallout 4 has great mods for almost everything you could want to do
Temple Reflex: Sanghelli made reflex sight. Judging by the gold on the sight itself, it most likely cost a lot of currency to make, so best put it to good use.
Hybrid Optic: Special sight attachment made by Misriah Armory's Mexican division on Earth. Allows the operator to switch between a red dot sight and a full scope on the fly, but it can't be both at the exact same time.
COG Sight: Coming from the Egyptian division of Imbrium Machine Complex, the COG Sight takes the achievements of the past and brings them to the present day. Includes a night vision attachment for those who prefer to blast away in the moonlight.
Sentinel Scope: ONI's first and, so far, only weapon attachment, which is coming from their Neptune division. It's comparable to a 2.5-3X Scope, so it's perfect for a DMR type weapon.
Kinetic Modifier: A relatively new piece of technology manufactured by Acheron Security, specifically their Vancouver division on Earth. Designed to boost the power of the round being fired, it's perfect for weapons that are all about the damage like a shotgun or a sniper rifle. It has a reputation for greatly increasing the recoil of the weapon, though.
I actually love the idea of being able to reskin human weapons with covenant gear or vice versa. A covenant-ified assault rifle or a UNSC-ified Plasma Pistol would be really interesting to see.
Would you be willing to do something like that? I think it would be an interesting learning experience for the entire halo community, since we're so ingrained in terms of how these things look.
"Noble Six, Going Dark"
Amazing video, very well made!! I think gunsmith has one flaw tho, it makes all the guns in the sand box very samey. Like just change the attachments and the gun handles identical to another and that kinda kills the diverse sandbox, Cold War kinda did better by adding guns via their archetype so they all have a unique feature but with the addition of dlc well we how that goes, again your art is really good keep going!
The hypothetical gunsmith should onlg be for aesthetic and functional changes like grenade launchers, sights, etc. due to the fact that stats such as recoil control, ADS speed, movement speed, and others don't exist in Halo
When I first saw this channel, I wasn't expecting much but then you have established higher and higher standards to the content I would want for Halo. I am honestly in love with this content and can't wait to see more of it.
Glad to hear that! Thanks🤘
Customisables in Firefight mode might be neat tbh
I'd personally love to see an attachment for guns in online that counts your kills with that gun
You and haloVFX just make my day. I appreciate your calm and low-key videos.
This a very cool concept and great weapon design's! Great video!
Wernissage is out here giving me hope for something that probably won't be in Infinite, but who can ever know when it comes to mods on PC. 15:34 is a hell of a shot btw, keep up the good work!!!
Some of these seem alright, but many seemed too far out there for what I expect in a Halo game. While I hope for proper weapon customization, I want it reserved for custom games. Nothing fancy, just what we can already do via modding, as well as adding/removing/changing a weapon scope, flashlight(s)/laser(s), rails, and barrel.
Bayonets only make sense on brute weapons since they love being in CQB, and a grenade launcher would require modifying the ammo system in Halo, which I suppose was already weird to start with (all ammo stays with the weapon). I do find it a bit odd we never got to turn on/off lights/lasers on weapons/vehicles, but it would also be a pain if the launchers are mapped to the same button, shooting someone instead of turning on a flashlight or vice versa.
I suppose at this point in the Halo timeline I can see human equipment being modified with Covenant or Forerunner technology, but these seemed a bit out of place.
I'd be so for this if it was a campaign feature. There'd be problems in multiplayer, obv
I love the idea of the gunsmith in halo infinite and your's gunsmiths of halo is a awasome
Thanks!
Love your videos, they're well put together and should have more attention around them. Keep it up👍👍👍👍

Your design when it comes to guns is superb, I wish I could find someone like you to help me with my game.
I really hope weapon charms are gonna be in this game. Theyre such a nice customization option
If I can’t have a tiny lil Guilty Spark on my Bulldog I will lose it
I like a these or at least the concept behind them.
But good-golly-god, that OMA Assault Rifle gives me a panic attack every time, lol
That Promethean Bulldog fucks. Rad, bro. That sniper VK is really dope, too.
Thanks boii!!
I would personally love to see Halo 5's base weapon customization return. Maybe something like A weapon station where you can create new variants, and save them for quick select later without having to rebuild them from scratch.
Then in campaign and multiplayer you start with/pick up the base weapon then you have to go to/find a human weapon station for human weapons, a Banished station for Banished/Covenant weapons, a forerunner weapon station for promethean weapons (assuming that they are still in the game), and maybe at least for multiplayer have an omni-station that can alter any or all weapon types. There once you have cleared the area you can alter the appropriate weapons in your current loadout with attachments that you have unlocked via use of those specific weapons (kill 25 grunts with this gun to get this new barrel for this weapon).
Needle Bulldog fire a uniform spread of 9 needles at a modified rate of fire, range, spread, and damage per pellet. The effect range is about 4 to 6 Spartans in length. 9 Needles are required for a super combine. The super combine does enough damage to break a full Spartan shield and a small amount to health, so a second shot or melee will always kill. The magazine must be fully emptied before reloading, but each consecutive shot increases the rate of fire.
I wouldn't bash these additions but this new sort of thing should be for customs, and it's own playlist. maybe battle royal if that gets added (later down the line hopefully)
