You know, the irony is that one of the things that made it really fake to me was actually that there was _too much_ information about it. All lost media comes to us at various levels of how 'lost'' it is at that point in time. From "Oh, it was mentioned just once..." all the way to "There are videos of this, but no one's found the full thing", there's always a timeline to how uncovered it is!
But this... There are so many images, so many claims of things that happened in the game, so many claims of where it was found and what systems it was on and so many people who have some experience with it, that it simply _can't_ be as lost as it is!
Still, we found Ready 'n Steady didn't we? And that had tons of information about it and people were looking for it for more than a decade.

That black background, the sudden cutoff of his body, his huge eyes that seem to be looking down, coupled with my paranoia really scares me.

Bakerskills 21 the sound chip in the Sega Genesis, the Yamaha YM2612, was an 8-bit chip. So this kinda goes both ways depending on how you look at it.

Kekcroc is a hoax. It was made by a famous hoaxer on 4chan. the 3D artwork both on the box art and on the fake monitor picture were made using a cheap windows XP 3D modelling program that the user that posted it regularly uses for hoaxes though they are in fact a different user to the person who started the hoax. the mostly green screenshot on the box art was made in a custom art program ROM for the SNES using parts of mario paint and the other picture is an MS Paint picture from Deviant Art.

Unless it's just a huge coincidence, this game obviously looks like something made to cash-in on Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. The problem with that is that Croc was released in 1997, far later than Kekcroc was supposedly released.

The DOS rendering could have been FMV, for I have seen DOS pull off that kind of stuff in pre-rendered cutscenes.

Fun fact, for me, when I look on the thumbnail for this in full screen (on mobile you can look at videos when in fullscreen on another video), it would show the games box art, and when I look at normally, it shows a picture of a Dollar General.

Few things:
1. This FMV looks pretty high quality for 1993; remember, this is when CD-ROM was still a pretty new thing, and compression wasn't that great.
2. The thing that intrigues me is how similar the model looks to the box art. That could support either claim of it being real or fake

I know there’s no point in actually responding to this with a possible proper solution to this mystery anymore, but i’ll give my 2 cents anyway.
I’ve been to many video game stores. Well-known ones like GameStop, lesser-known local game stores, and a multitude of old video stores. Several of these were known for creating fake video game box art to sit on their shelves/display units, to make them look a bit less empty. Many were very shoddily made, and some of the older, Genesis/SNES-era ones in those stores were about as terrible as this particular one.
So here’s what i’m thinking: this game was a shelf-filler created by a discount game store/video store in the ‘90s that people decided was funny and stupid enough for them to pretend it was real. Sorry to ruin the magic, but I can say with certainty that if that image actually did come from a real store, then it’s probably one of those things.
Here's an idea, make an actual kekcroc game. Like a game maker game

It’s real. You can buy it with the portal 3 gold edition on ps69 and Xbox 720 for 80 rupees. After that the game with appear with a complimentary Sega genesis model 4 with an 8 button controller.

While I question the legitimacy of a lot of what you linked, I'm really glad to have seen it since I assume it's from the threads that 404'd, so thanks!
The images for some of them do look superimposed. Such as the very bottom image. The logo looks to clear compared to the quality of the cartridge. The beta footage just looks like a purposely bad animation, due to the camera angles and changes. Remember the footage is "beta" No reason for it to look this bad. This is most likely a fake game. Still interesting nonetheless. If this turns out real, then, Yay! It's real and it can be played. But there are too many inconsistencies, such as, The final picture looking like it had the kekcroc logo superimposed on a Legend of Zelda Gold cart, or on a Silver cart. The regular Gray cart looks like the logo was super imposed on it too. I find it to be a elaborate hoax in my book.
That's probably/is fake. Especially the last picture of Kekcroc on that link, dood. Looks like some 13 year old drew it with some weird art style. Completely different than the other pictures. Also, I don't think that that art style was even a thing in the 1990's. If those pictures were official, they'd all look the same.
