    Born and raised in Bowling Green. I’ve lived all over the US as an adult and make really good $$ everywhere I’ve lived, except KY, but every time I move back to BG I live paycheck to paycheck. The pay has not changed much in 20 years that’s why people choose TN (Nashville Area) in my opinion.

    When discussing “big cities” in Kentucky, don’t forget northern Kentucky greater Cincinnati area. It’s not a single city, but is comprised as one and it probably larger than Lexington if taken as a whole.

    • @nightraver56
      @nightraver56 Před 2 dny

      Correct, the "Cincinnati Airport" is actually right across the river from Ohio in Kentucky!
      A massive amount of Cincinnati new jobs are across the river on the Kentucky side!
      So let's talk about why people pick TN over KY - no state income tax in TN vs 6% in Kentucky!!
      TN also has slightly lower property taxes in big cities that are NOT Nashville & Knoxville!
      Here's the issue - whatever you think you'll save on income tax in TN will be more than drowned out by insane property prices around Nashville & Knoxville & they simply can't increase much more.
      Kentucky Lake is in both TN & KY, the price difference of lakefront lots on the SAME lake is crazy 30% higher on the Tennessee section!!
      Overall, rural Kentucky people are gonna be happier for a non-local buying a farm than rural Tennessee who outsiders have driven land prices to the stratosphere, priced nonsensical.
      Tennessee is more business-friendly than KY as far as compliance paperwork & taxes, if you're starting a business & all else equal would do it in Tennessee,
      but for buying a home or farm in 2024 TN forget it!!!
      Tennessee demanding & getting 250,000 for an old mobile home on 3 acres, it's gotten insane!

    I bet the lack of waving a friendliness is coming from people that moved from a state where they just don’t do that. I moved from nevada and ended up in cali (not by choice) and the people here for the most part are just flat out rude and zombie like. We wave at people and they give us dirty looks or look surprised that we’re waving. I don’t like it at all honestly! We’re looking at both Tennessee and Kentucky but ultimately it’s wherever God wants us to go! Thank you for making these videos! They help.

    I moved to the commonwealth in 2018. Now, in 2024, i cannot believe how ridiculous housing prices have become. Locals have been completely closed out from buying. Wages are too low here for people to get ahead, let alone buy a 500,000.00 house, that just 6 years ago, would have sold for 200k. It’s become unreasonable, and locals know it. Eventually, they will become very hostile toward outsiders buying up homes, and bringing prices out of reach for locals.
    I fell in love with Kentucky, and don’t want to see her people suffer just so folks from Chicago can buy up all the houses, making the rest of them financially out of reach.

      @Lovell93 Před 6 dny

      Kentucky is most definitely not a liberal state. We are red, through and through. We go red for POTUS every time, and you’d be hard pressed to find a liberal outside Lexington or Louisville. The only reason we have a Democrat governor right now is because the Republican candidate was trash, and Andy Beshear is pretty harmless as he doesn’t do anything. Don’t ever call Kentucky a liberal state again hahahaha.

    Being very honest, not snarky. Tell them to stay up North or on the Wast Coast. They voted for that lifestyle, and will most definitely bring it with them. Virginia is literally ruined, compared to what it was twenty years ago. The DC culture is literally everywhere here. The amount of rural farmable land is and has been turned into subdivision’s. See your real estate taxes double. Yes, we also pay personal property tax as well. They move in, and nothing suits them.

  • @slwtgf

    I prefer blue grass (over country) music, but literally thought that originated in the hills of Tennessee, NOT Kentucky. Idk how these facts slip the mind , or get turned around, cuz dah…the rolling, beautiful, blue grass fields are Kentucky. Also Appalachia culture as a whole, I seem to associate it with Tennessee and West Virginia over Kentucky, as well. But it’s incorrect, so thank you for this info. Trees, magnificent trees, I think Tennessee wins in that category , however?

      KY taxes you on your vehicles and Rv, each and every year. The sales tax is lower in KY, but they tax you in other areas and TN has no state income tax. We have a much lower tax bite, but I really wish everyone would move to KY, NC, SC, GA and AL.

      @@southernyankee2300 yeah I just researched that they charge you 45 cents per $100 of the value of the vehicle so in my case I have a 2008 Ford E350 van and I'm not sure how they figure on how much it's worth but let's say I paid $5,000 for it a couple of years ago so that would run $22.50 for the taxes plus I learned that they also have a registration fee of $20. In Michigan here are registration fees are around $90 a year so overall it's cheaper than Michigan but not much.

      @@ronbown3836 you are getting a better deal in KY on homes with land right now. TN prices have soar with all these out of staters with money buying overpriced houses. TN is the best place to go off grid because we have the least restrictions, so the rural properties have also skyrocketed. Overall, buying in TN is to expensive for native Tennesseans and whereas NC property was always much higher than TN they are now even. I sold my home outside Chattanooga last December and I am trying to purchase a home in Eastern TN, but I am also looking in AL, SC, NC, VA, AR, and now KY as well. I love TN, but if I get a better deal on what I am looking for in one of these others states I guess I am saying goodbye to TN as much as I hate to do so. Good luck.

All I've witnessed is back stabbers, gossips, liars, and people who smile to your face then secretely try to ruin you all around town. People who claim to be neighbors talking and whispering and spreading lies. Let me tell you the truth, If you aren't born and raised in Kentucky, you will never be truly welcomed here. Its an entirely different culture here, very backwards, very stuck in the past. If you dont have a last name people know and recognize as one of their own, you are nobody.

    We’re trying to find our home 🩷 we have 4 kids my oldest leaving for the military but with 3 littles from a baby to 12 we are trying to find the right place to raise them. We’re from small town where everyone knows everyone until the laws changed and now our towns gone. We loved our home we do annual Christmas light parades and so many things amazing things with a tiny town and then farms all over. The laws have ruined our way of life most of the city folks hate our way of life and they aren’t friendly, they don’t want chickens or cows and fight to change our laws 😓 it’s heartbreaking so much changed but the biggest was not being able to find any child care or help around the house. We had 7 speech therapists because no one wants to do these jobs anymore. It’s heartbreaking 💔 we have to find our forever home we have no family here my momma is in Tennessee my mother in law is in queens NY 👀 but we’re not city people always have been homesteaders and Jesus first everyone respects everyone and helps each other. If someone’s sick we come together as a town and do food trains and mow the grass but it’s ruined now where we are in upstate NY. I’m a mess over this because I am having such a hard time finding another place like where we live 😓 politics it seems are being changed everywhere and we just want our normal way of life. You live your life as long as you do no harm I could care less, but the politics are forcing change 💔😓

So there is no one filling the spots that we’re paying so much in taxes to have filled.
