It took me half the video to realize what kind of lockdown you were talking about. Being German, I immediately thought of Covid and got so confused. So sorry you had to go through that, but glad everyone is okay. We rarely get shootings here, but I can imagine how horrifying that must have been

For real, I'm Polish and live in Germany and I thought "lockdown" meant someone in the class tested positive and kids were gonna be sent home and stay there for a few days. Possibly the whole class had to stay after classes and take rapid tests. Some level of concern from a parent would still feel justified, especially if they have someone with compromised immune system in close family/friend circles.
Most of my feed is American and so I hear about many shootings in the US but the fact you can go to school and literally be shot at feels so surreal, and so wrong on so many levels.

Reading both your post and the person who replied on your post, I just had to shake my head. Only because I am American and had to worry about my child in a lock down while they were in elementary. Then come read some of the comments which this pops up first. For an American who loves to hunt, I still believe we need to do something gun reform and your post and the reply say it all!!!

There was a shooting at my school. I wasn’t there, I was at a doctor’s appointment. I found out when my friend messaged a bunch of us saying “are you all okay?” and then everyone else responded with “safe” and “fine for now” and “stay safe everyone” and “I love you guys.” We live in the US so it wasn’t hard to guess what was going on, but I asked anyway because I hoped that maybe I was wrong. I wasn’t.
I spent the rest of the appointment messaging my friends, and eventually I just left early because I couldn’t focus enough to answer their questions. When I heard that is was over and my friends were all okay, I don’t think I’ve ever felt so relieved.
It was awful. I guess I got lucky with not being there, but I can’t think of how any part of this situation could even be considered lucky.

My heart breaks every time I hear about these lock downs and what the students and their parents are going through. Five years ago my husband dropped off our son (22 at the time) at the Paris Charles de Gaulle International airport when there was a bomb threat announced. Our son was flying back home to the US and my husband was continuing his business trip heading towards a train station outside of Paris. Suddenly your world is upside down and nothing seemed real. After my husband received a call from our son, he literally swam up against the sea of people fleeing the airport to get to our son. Everything turned out well in the end. It was just that, a bomb treat. My husband stayed with our son until he boarded a plane the next day to head back home. I gave our son the world’s biggest hug and kiss when I picked him up at LAX the next day. This experience will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

This happened last year at our rival school. Someone had posted threats that were deemed credible to Instagram. In the posts they claimed they were going to target our rival school first then go to my school and to the last high school in our district(3 in total). Well when a student found out they weren’t sure what to do, but decided to report it to the office because the person threatening the school said that he would begin his “terror” at 11am. It was 10:30am so when the student reported it to admin they immediately shut down the school and the cops were called. When the posts were deemed credible they had multiple different law enforcement come, including the FBI and our nearest military personnel because there was a video of a bomb being placed in the school. As a result all the high schools were placed in lockdown because they believed more than one person was involved. We were all in lock down(the other 2 schools) until 11:30ish because a officer had turned their sirens at a car that blew the stop sign, turns out it was the kid that threatened the school and did have guns in the car, not on the way to the rival school, but to our school since they found out that the police were already at the other school. It was very scary because if that one police officer hadn’t made that stop, several students would have been possibly killed even though we were in lockdown(bomb threat did turn out to be true but it was badly made so it was not a threat)

Mimo I know you live in Michigan and this sounds exactly like my school last year, if by chance your kid goes to a very big school with a wildcat as one of the mascots I think we might’ve been in the same lockdown. It was 6th hour and I was in my ecology class when we went into lockdown, everyone was confused about wether it was a drill or not. But after three hours and kids having to relieve themselves in trash cans and buckets (due to lack of bathroom access) we were sure it definitely wasn’t a lockdown. I was luckily one of the first classes to get out at around 5 pm but I was stuck on my bus till 6:30 pm waiting for all the kids to get released. A lot of people have trauma from police busting in a pointing guns, one of my friends changed their class route because of it.

I'm so sorry that you went through that. So glad the kids were ok. I know exactly how you feel. A similar thing happened to me as well. I was in the hospital recovering from surgery abd i get multiple texts and alerts from the BOE that the kids are in lockdown because someone called in a bomb threat. I'm messaging my sister, who taking care of my son while I'm in Hospital. She's messaging he friends who teach at my son's school. She also calling the BOE and scouring the internet to find out what's going on. They were finally released at 2pm and I was so relieved. Then it happened AGAIN the next day. This time someone called in another bomb threat to the High School AND the Middle school! So I'm getting texts & emails from the BOE that all of those kids were divided into groups and directed to one of the elementary schools - which were all going into another lockdown. The FBI came and the SWAT teams were at both schools. The kids were dismissed at jormal time and everything was ok. Eventually the cops found out it was some kid in Brooklyn who allegedly didn't like someone at the school and they were hoping they'd get in trouble for it. Long story short I had to stay an extra day because my blood pressure was off the charts because of this BS.

I feel so sorry for you and all my other American friends trying to live normal lives, yet walking around in fear in public because the government doesn't care about you guys enough to ban guns, do security checks on everyone entering a public building and put police posted everywhere. Stay safe and remember to be kind as well because a lot of people ignore and bully individuals during their critical adolescent stages of life in school which causes them to turn into depressed mass murderers. At my high school there was a lockdown because of a shooting at the school next to ours (5 kids died) and I always told myself that it wasn't traumatic because it wasn't even the school I was at!
But it was only recently that my mom told me she was so so so scared that she was going to get that phone call because we were all huddled in the gym without cell service and she didn't know what was going on. I kind of felt a lot better knowing she was scared too. Like my own fear during the situation was justified.
Anyways, I'm sorry on dumping this scary story here, but knowing that it's okay to be scared even for the parents in a safe place is kind of comforting to hear. I guess it was okay for me to be very not okay after that too.

I cant even begin to understand how scary it must be to have kids in the US school system. I have 8 nieces and nephews and im so scared for them, so i can only imagine how hard it must be for parents. ❀‍đŸ©č❀‍đŸ©č❀‍đŸ©č
