Do you consider Essers and Tofts Top 5 factions video? I would consider Trade R1 if I had choice between Trade, Diplo, Constr and Imp. And green planets in adjacent sysyems. Then flip Trade and after go out take planets and explore, you might get commodities refreshed for Tech secondary.
That could make an interesting video, Viesturs! I'm sure Toft and I will have two totally different lists :)

I love you two guys and this format talking about faction- playstyles. I would love to play with you guys someday at the danish match-day...it would be great, so all of us guys in the mid-fourties could practice talking english while playing this awesome game in a cool, closed therapy-session :D In terms of tech I would go high risk and not tech any green techs. I would rather go for scanlink, dark energy, gravity, dreadnaughts II and fighters II (because you have a green tech and go for blue anyway... and you need good and cheap and fast cannonfodder- units to support the dreadnaughts, which have the capacity to carry them;) ...with blue tech skip skip dark energy. Without hyper metabolism just hope for the leadership card, good influence planets and scanlink counters you get from hazardous planets. If you need trade goods scan industrial planets for convertable commodities or take the trade card to solve a trade-based objective. or sell your agent or promissory. This should be fine. Greetings
