Thanks for featuring the KUHN Krause Gladiator® 1205 strip-tillage system in another excellent video!
That CASE IH 580 QUADTRAC and Kunn Gladiator are an amazing combo. I’m impressed how smooth that Case IH handles that implement behind it so smooth and effortlessly considering the shanks, discs, etc. My little 2 year old loved that big red tractor!
I'm all sorts of amazed by how finely tuned modern agriculture is. It still looks like just some dirt work, until you realize the tolerances and productivity and thoughtfulness involved. Same methods as ages ago, taken to the limit. Cheers!
I need to make a video on how tillage has changed over the years.
bigtractorpower i really enjoyed your all forms of tillage video awhile ago
Nice equipment. From what I've seen and heard all over the world the case quadtrac is by far the best track tractor on the market. Thanks for the video BTP
The Quadtrac is a solid machine. Thank you for watching.
Best on the market for real, you're kidding right
Great setup. The most effective tillage operation for corn and beans i have seen on CZcams yet.Quality equipment .If you hook up a fertilizer cart to that a lot of flies can be taken out with one swat.
I was thinking the same thing. Cheers...
That's a massive 🚜, with a massive price tag.
Great video as usual btp... 👍👍
It can cover some ground. Thank you for watching.
I really like the KUHN rig, we have one on our farm at the moment for a demo. Strip till is gaining in popularity. Works very well in rocky land I have found out.
They do a nice job. The Kuhn Krause is the most popular choice here in WKY for strip till. Strip tillage has gained allot of popularity here in the past five years. Where do you farm?
@@bigtractorpower We farm in 2 locations the Piedmont area of NC, and then the Coastal Plain area of NC. We are doing the demo in the Piedmont area and that's where we have a shallow soil type with some shell rock in places. Coastal area we use the Univerth Strip till rig, and it works well there.
That 9460R would look good pulling that 16 row kuhn ...
@@deereguy143 Yes it would !!
@@deereguy143 better put a hay rake behind that Pile...
Great view of the tractor and tiller. I know, as viewers, we thank you for the videos you post, but please let the farmers and the workers know that your fans really appreciate their contribution to the videos. It would be much less interesting without the close ups & ride-alongs you record. Thanks to you and them!
Thank you Mark. I can not thank the farmers enough who provide access to their machines and operation.
It will be planting time again before you know it. Thanks for another great video.
It is just 5 months until corn planting will start. Time flys by.
Case IH Steiger power. What a good job that tillage equipment dose. It's very well manufactured as are all the tool bars are no matter the manufacturer. That muffler is to me is plain ole ulgy, it's massive and looks tilted. Folded id hate to meet up with oncoming autos going down a two lane road, it's still huge. A fun Saturday BTP episode🚜👍
At 22 ft when this farm’s 580 and 620 Quads were rolling down the road traffic has to pull off the road. The muffler is huge but it does not really cause any visibility issue. Interesting the New Holland T9s built in Fargo and sold in Europe have the muffler mounted horizontally on the hood on the left side. I am surprised all the red and blue tractors don’t have the muffler set that way and completely remove it from the line of site.
Outstanding video as always
This has to be one of our favorite modern tractor videos lately. It would be nice to have links in the video to videos of the other three tractors you showed.
Great video, I wish more operators were like Matt, I enjoy the questions you’re able to ask them.
Thank you for watching. Matt is a great guy.
Nice design tractor 🚜 powerful smooth operation system.
Thank you for this excellent tutorial on strip tilling. This equipment is impressive.
Thank you for watching.
@@bigtractorpower You're welcome
It’s a very impressive tillage tool I like the way it folds up so you can just fold up and go down the road and go to the next field that’s pretty cool
@mrour canada is the first you've seen, all of our tillage equipment folds up so you can move on down the road to the next field
Nice sneak peak of that CASE IH 535 :)
The Golden Demo 535 is a nice tractor.
Big machine in a big field! Enjoyed the video!
Thank you for watching. You can see this sane field when two 420 Steigers were side dressing corn in it at czcams.com/video/SeqLznO0wLQ/video.html
Looks like it`s a heavy piece of equipment and it`s doing a good job on getting the seed bed ready to put some seed in the ground.
Great video. Very informative, I've not seen strip till techniques used before.
Thanks for spending a little time on the row units - coulters, closers, chain rollers. Sometimes your videos (as well as others) have lots of distance shooting, watching the tractor and implement pass across the field, but we never see what is "in the ground." The details of the tillage equipment are of interest to some of us. I did go to the Kuhn web site to learn more, but your video is important. BTW, your mention of the weight is not what the spec sheet reads for the 1630 model. The implement can be adapted to many uses (e.g. NH3), so there can be a variation. Thanks - very good video.
Thank you for watching. I try to show implement details when I can. Often they are working the entire time so I can not show the machines set up. In this video I had a split second to show the 1205 row unit as he was coordinating with the 620 Quad on where they were moving too. The weight that I used on the 1630 comes from page 14 of the 2017 Gladiator Brochure. What does your spec sheet show?

I understand your constraint on time. You are in the presence of those intent on getting the job done, and taking time out of their work time. Taking more time to allow you video shots is expecting too much from the operator. You do amazingly well to get some time with the operators, so getting extra time is indulging on their time. I think in this case, the operator was preparing to fold up to move, so it worked out for you. Matt is very generous with his time and comments. It is apparent, this operator was not talking, and that is OK. Thank him for giving you a ride! You take extra efforts to avoid showing most operators, except Matt. We understand that consideration. Good on both ends. Again, ... I appreciate getting a small glimpse into the world of large scale farming.
bonjour tres bel ensemble de materiel, les steiger sont mes preferer. tres belle video, congratulations . pierre françe .
Merci 😁👍
great tractor
3000 acre field wow
The QT has allot of years making these models to perfect it's pieces. Tracked hp per $ it's the best machine on the market, lots of them have big hours on them to prove their investment
The Quadtrac is a solid machine. Tracked tractors really shine in tillage applications.
Thanks! Great video! 👍👍
Thank you for watching.
Awesome, my OCD bothers me, it looks if the driver drop the tiller every time to late and make head land wider and wider, lol just my view, very nice video
The Quad was working along a grass water way that cut across the field at an angle. The GPS drops the 1205 at the exact spot where the 80ft headland boundary ends but it makes it look like big loops. Many strip till farms here prefer to just work the headlands if the field with a turbo Till in spring rather than put strips on the turn around areas.
@@bigtractorpower Thanks Jason
It looks like the 3pt should lift higher. The Case IH articulated tractors just have that powerhouse look to them. There's several around me, along with the Deere's, but the Cases have a beefier look to them. Maybe it's that wide, sloping hood
Quadtrac are solid all around tractors. They do a nice job.
On uneven ground it's a struggle without more lift height. Have to fold wings some times and thats hard on things
One of the heaviest 3 point implements I've seen. Big advantages using the 3 point. Used to do row crop tillage with a 3 point cultivator. Every error is almost instantly reflected, really need to be watching without GPS and making those headland turns perfectly. Thankfully I was on an open station Allis 185 so my vision wasn't blocked by even by a window. My sunscreen was a couple mm's of topsoil. Like to see new implements. Not just big ones but innovative ones, you do a good job getting these videos. Thanks. You have patreon?
Love it !!
😁👍👍
Anyone else notice the difference in cab noise between this tractor and the green tractors when Jason is filming and speaking in the camera ?
Quite a difference.
Mighty fine show!
I always thought with strip till you pull behind either dry fertilizer or NH3 and put it in the row. How is this farm going to be putting its nitrogen and MAP or Dap into the program?
Here we have wheat follow corn and they found when they were applying dry fertilizer in the row with strip till it was carrying over and leaving stripes in the wheat. This farm side dresses NH3 into the corn in late April. You can see a video of the side dressing with 420 Steigers at czcams.com/video/SeqLznO0wLQ/video.html
Are you the same guy who does Toy Tractor Times?
Yes the Toy Tractor Times is my other channel.
I was thinking that was you. Love those videos also.
That's a big outfit and cost a lot of money but it can sure do a lot of work, only for the biggest operations. it's doing a great job and I'm sure they will cover enough ground with it to make a profit. That looks like really good land.
Thank you for watching.
Nice video. Very good.
Thank you for watching.
Nice package
Thank you for watching.
Is there much of a difference in the cost of upkeep for the tracks
Tracks will need to be replaced about every 3,000 hours in the conditions this tractor runs in. Tracks add about $100,000 to the cost of a new tractor. I am not sure what the belts themselves run.
Bom dia! Parabéns pelos vídeos que você faz, nós do Brasil ficamos admirados com as máquinas de primeira linha!
Have the results been good using this.
Yes they have been very good. Several farms I film at have switched over to strip till with 1205 Gladiators in recent years from CIH and JD subsoilers.
Love these videos more then any thing but you seen the consepet self driving tractors with all the field data you enter your teaching the net work how long before more farmers and farm hands in the end be pushed out of work by these bigger smarter machines
cool
Thank you for watching.
It is a very nice big tractor the only thing it is so noisy same like they nice to soundproof the inside where you driving at because the engine is so loud
Great stream sir Question how often do they change out tractors what I mean is how many hours on one of these bad boys before they trade in for new one seems like if you keep them maintain that they would last for 10000 hours thank you sir
It all depends on the farm. Many hear trade each year and others two or three years. They cover allot of ground in this area with double crop soybeans after wheat so many farms have new machines often to avoid down time.
What is the farmers fertilizer program, broadcast then run the gladiator?
They side dress the corn a few weeks after planting. Here is a video of this farm side dressing czcams.com/video/SeqLznO0wLQ/video.html
@@bigtractorpower Willing to bet return on investment with a fertilizer with the Gladiator will pay back the cost of a fertilizer cart in one year.
I grew up on a farm in Southern Alberta, Canada . Learned first hand not to share BAD weeds.
The muffler on that thing is insane !
Just watched a episode of jay lenos garage that features this tractor. Check it out.
Don that is a great episode. I have watched that episode a few times. Mitch Kaiser from Case IH who is in the Quadtrac with Jay Leno is in a video I made on a 500 RowTrac posted at czcams.com/video/ArJCVZ6yceo/video.html
That is a nice outfit
It will cover some ground. There was a 620 Quad also rolling across the field.
When the one field is 500 acres bigger then your farm
Awesome tractor , but I think just pulling grain carts this one is over kill
Never, we use versatile delta racks pulling demco 1400 carts on tracks, the quad tracks work awesome on wet bottom ground especially
The way this guy treats equipment he’s farming with money not for money
How is the equipment being treated?
I farmed for over 30yrs and I can't see where he's abusing the equipment. This equipment is designed to run at high speeds in the field. That's one of the ways todays farmer utilizes efficient farm practices. Cheers...
Planting is the next process? Asking from Utah.
Yes in March they plant corn in the strips.
@@bigtractorpower Thanks...sure enjoy your videos!
makes me wonder does that area ever get anything; i mean about everyone i watch even my area rain, snow , cold , wet , muddy, ect; seems they have the easy life
It had snowed and rained here. My goal is to film on a blue Sky day because the equipment stands out better in a blue Sky than an gray one. Here is fall tillage I filmed in the rain czcams.com/video/x6Sake87V0I/video.html
We get a lot of rain here in the spring and late fall through winter. Usually it dries up in the summer. Where Bigtractor films at on the other side of the lakes it rains a lot their in the summer lol. Seems rain will come out of the north and go right through owensboro and Hopkinsville. It can rain here and the ground holds up well compared to up north where that black dirt sticks like gumbo and holds water.
The soil does drain well here. When it’s warm it can be less than a day out of the field. This past month cold weather and rain have had a entire week pass before I could film a nice day like this with the Quadtrac.
Man that thing has a honker for a nose. I've never liked the stieger quad tracks cause of how wide that hood is, gezzz
From the ground it looks big, cause it is, but from the drivers view in the cab it doesn't seem or look that big. Cheers...
Why don't they put fertilizer in at the same time if they are strip tilling ?
They side dress the corn a few weeks after planting. Here is a video of the farm side dressing czcams.com/video/SeqLznO0wLQ/video.html
Did you leave the door open while filming in the cab lol if it’s Red Leave it In the Shed
Smells like a John and hides in the Woods...
Hi
Thank you for watching.
Vay be
22ft to travel down the road that wouldn't even cross most bridges around here lol
That is way too wide.
Sup
Hi.
But whats the point of this tool? Tool and its results looks more like a row crop cultivator than tillage.
It has all the results of primary and secondary tillage in a confined 30 inch row. This allows for reduced tillage and equipment passes on the field.
@@bigtractorpower Aah, You're saying its intended to run on top of existing rows.
@@oldretireddude It is creating the seed bed for next year. With gps they can center the row over the the trough cut by the center shank. Thus allowing better root penatration.
✌️✌️✌️✌️
Must be somewhat annoying with that big exhaust stack in the way.
Not at all. As I showed in the ride along segment of this video the operator hardly even sees the muffler from inside the cab.
First
Thank you for your enthusiasm.
The cab on the Case/I.H.quadtracs are very noisy,my neighbor runs these and I can't see how in the world he takes listening to the turbocharged diesel for 12-16 hours a day.
The John Deere version is much quieter and refined.(Just sayin)
I find a 9RX cab to be much noises than a Quadtrac. The 9RX has a hydraulic whine to it the 9R does not have. It’s hard to give a comparison because my camera microphone picks up the 12 air conditioner vents in each tractor and the air sometimes makes it sound like I am outside.
@@bigtractorpower I have a SPL meter and the Deere was about 3-5 decibels quieter.
@@bigtractorpower I have to say the QT does sound a fair bit louder than some Big Deeres you ride along in, The only comparable tractor I have driven(long ago,,,lol),was a MF 4880,fantastic in its day..
Fiat junk
FIAT is not junk. They have made allot of investment in Case IH and the Quadtrac is a market leader.
Go to John deere at least the name is the same
