I want to love the basic, I want to love how unprecious it feels and how papery the screen looks. BUT I LOVEEEEEE my oasis. It makes the read a whole experience for me. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely love my kindle oasis, especially as someone who has small hands, with short fingers. The paperwhite was hard for to hold and lay in bed, and I love laying in bed to read.
I totally agree as someone who reads in bed the majority of the time!
I had an earlier version of kindle from 2018 and had the same problems with glitching - it would just freeze, and I had no way to reset it. I was gifted an Oasis by my incredibly generous parents and I adore it. I use it almost every day and have zero issues with glitching or battery. I love the e-reader for getting access to digital libraries and cheap Kindle deals; it expands my library in a way that print books are too expensive to do, even thrifted. The combo of print and e-reader is very satisfying. I use audiobooks for non-fiction and memoir, which I could never get through with physical reading 😂 we readers are in a golden age! I just got an Oasis 3 a few days ago as well and I LOVE IT ❤ The buttons are so comfortable and the screen is amazing. I have the Kobo Libra 2 as well but it’s not comfortable at all.
Welcome to the Oasis family. Nothing beats the form factor, but for me there was an enjoyment curve. The pinch grip helped me tremendously. Thumb on top index between cover last three fingers on bottom. (Fabric cover or book style)
I have the Kindle Paperwhite with 8 GB and love it 🙌🏻A little hack for the battery life on Kindle. If you put it on airplane mode the battery stays charged even longer. I can go weeks without reading on it and it's almost always fully charged when I pick it back up!

I have an Oasis for the past almost 4 yrs . And I enjoy it! The battery life is not bad. I don’t get so strict with battery life on a kindle devices. And I just recently got the new paper white . They both are nice but different ways to hold it though . I think I’m more comfortable with the oasis. Plus, I couldn’t find where I can have the book that I’m reading as its screen saver. But I found it! Is a different way how your shows it. I’m not blaming you but I think cuz mine is older than yours maybe that’s why the settings are a bit different. But awesome video !

I love my Oasis. I use it mainly when I’m reading outdoors as there’s no glare and the screen looks just like I’m reading a paper book. Worth every penny.

I’m doing the exact same! Because, I’m paralysed on one side, I find not having buttons too tricky. I loved my voyage with the buttons, and don’t really like my basic kindle. So, I’ve upgraded it.
10000% agree with the carpal tunnel issue. I stopped reading my kindle because anytime I couldn’t use the “set up” my hand would go numb. 100% better I can turn the screen to switch hands and all around better shape for me

I love love love my Oasis!! I had a PW for 3~ years. It was just so laggy and felt too slow, and I also have small hands! The Oasis was such a game changer for me ❤

I have a paper white, white edition 7th gen, it’s still going strong, this week I got a scribe not really for the writing, maybe future writing, but the 10.2 screen is a god send for me, I love the screen size and it’s a lovely item.
Such a cool video, I am very interested in the oasis especially if they upgrade it! Also side note those worried about 8gb of storage, it can hold about 3000 books on average if you’re just using your kindle for regular ebooks. If you’re using audible or reading comics, this number changes pretty drastically and that’s when I’d look into something bigger!
Yes exactly that's why I said the 32 GB is not necessary at all. It's just the only one they had in stock! I have about 100 books right now and I haven't even hit close to 3-4GB
For those with smaller hands, the page turn touch zones aren't 50/50 down the screen. The left third goes back, the right two thirds go forward. So you don't have to stretch your left hand all the way to the right half of the screen.
I first bought the Kindle PW SE, but I realized it was frustrating to "turn the pages" whenever I'm at home (I keep turning more than one page), and got frustrated. So I got a refurbished Oasis (thinking that getting a new Oasis would be impossible to get) instead. I like using both, but I use the Oasis more than the other one. The other one is more for on the go, or if I can't fit my Oasis in my bag.

I don’t have a kindle but i got an iPad mini for Christmas and use it as an e-reader and am obsessed with the mini for on the go!
Honestly, the iPad works really really great as well! I first started reading on my iPad but then I would get too distracted with other apps hahaha. But if you don't have issues with bluelight at night the iPad is a good way to go!

Everything I read on kindle oasis said it hadn't been updated since 2019 and that Amazon will either be discontinuing them or coming out with a major refresh soon (fingers crossed a colour version). I really wanted the more ergonomic handle and the cellular connectivity for when i travel, but so many reviews on the battery life scared me off to the Paperwhite Signature with a popsocket lol. I am going to miss the page flipping function though, especially from portrait to landscape coming from an ipad. I hope you love it though, interested to see your thoughts in a few months too! :)
Honestly, that was my biggest worry as well (I didn't wanna upgrade until they announced a new one) but I am really happy that I made the switch now, but I can totally understand waiting because I'm a see if they came out with a colour version I would debate buying it😂 I will definitely keep you guys updated in the Vlogs in terms of like battery life, and how I like it over the months!

The issues you had with your paperwhite is what I’m having with an oasis. Half the time it barely turns on. I got the paperwhite signature edition and adore it.

Kinda random but curious to know why you chose kindle over kobo! Also, loveeee the case you got think I'll have to get one for mine now lol
I actually had both for awhile and just sold my Kobo so I feel like I can answer this well! While Kobo is compatible with the library system in Canada, I just preferred the interface and connectivity to Amazon that Kindle offers. Ultimately I found Kindle book sales better and it made more sense for me to get a US library card that I could use on my Kindle than have 2 devices. Books also tend to be abit cheaper on Kindle and the Kindle OS system is more stable/less glitchy than Kobo. I personally found the Kobo to be super slow to respond, glitchy and not a very user-friendly interface compared to Kindle. I also read alot of indie and self-published books that were exclusive to Amazon and Kindle Unlimited! There's defintely no right or wrong choice, all just depends what you're going for!
I’ve had my paper white since Xmas 2015😂 read it every night since and it’s never let me down….i literally think it’s only been fully charged about 10 times since haha! Xx
The battery on the paperwhite is INSANE
I don't know how many books can fit into these GBs, I find it cozy to read by holding the book pages, so I don't prefer it, but yes, it is definitely practical. 📚Have a happy reading🤗
I have about 75 books in my kindle library and it's taking up maybe 3-4GBso you can definitely hold alot of books! I also enjoy reading physical books, but since I read at night, it's more practical to read on a Kindle. But they're really great thing is you don't have to choose you can do both🥰🫶🏻

My man got me a new paperwhite for christmas because my original battery life lasted hardly 2 days of barely any reading. I love the paperwhite. I debated exchanging for oasis but once I put a strapsicle on the paperwhite, I felt like it was easier to hold.
I love that you found a Kindle that worked for you! I still think the Paperwhite is a GREAT option honestly but I felt like I had tried ALL the options in terms of holding it/making it more ergonomic (popsocket, strapsicle etc) and it was just not the best option for my carpal tunnel. But I still think the Paperwhite is amazing, just not for me anymore!
Take a clean picture of your stickers, put them in a Word document or Canva to “shrink” it, print them on your paper preference! ❤
Yes I've seen this before, smart idea! I just feel like it would be silly to not use the actual stickers (especially those from small businesses) but I may try that out one day!!
hello. how is the battery going? I just bought one a week ago and the battery drops even when kept overnight, at a rate of 3% per hour ! Please let me know how it is coming along for you, depending on your reading duration etc.
I only have to charge it every 7-10 days!

I've got a Oasis for the past 2 years (i was on kobo before), I had to change it bc of the life battery. I just bought a Paperwhite i'm waiting to recieve it so i will see the differences. I taked that one bc it was cheaper, i was gifted the Oasis soooo i was happy with it ngl but it is expensiiiive + they don't have the 8go in stock ????? i don't want to spend too much for features i will not use !

The Oasis is a premium device. I love mine and I find the Paperwhite very difficult and uncomfortable to hold. The Oasis is gorgeous.

Ha not me with a 2018 kindle basic. I have noticed with my eyes, if I am having a migraine or a bad eye day I cant use the kindle to read and that is a huge bummer

I don't know if it would help, but when I have a headache and want to read I put my kindle in dark mode (I have a paperwhite so I don't know if that is an option on the basic), but the dark background with the white text makes it easier on my eyes.
I have the oasis and the kindle paperwhite signature edition and I would say they both have their good things, it just depends on what you like for your reading experience. If battery doesn’t bother you and you enjoy the physical feel of buttons then the oasis may be for you. If you enjoy a longer battery life with the ease of wireless charging, then maybe the signature paperwhite is more your style. Love your video 😊

I read on my iPad Pro and I have never even considered getting a kindle. I’m a librarian so I have access to a lot of physical books as well 🤷♀️ I’ve never really gotten the kindle hype tbh
Honestly whatever works for you! I think every type of way of reading is valid whether it's a Kindle, Kobo, iPad or physical book and we should support people in the ways that they want to consume reading and just be happy people are reading- that's how I see it🥰
I know tons of people who read on their iPads and love it. For some of us I think it's important to remember that reading on an iPad is not sustainable for health reasons so to me it's worth every ounce of hype honestly😅 I have post-concussion syndrome/neurological deficits & chronic migraines so reading on an iPad with blue light every single night would be so bad for me (since I already sit at a computer all day). Since I read a ton at night I wanted something that wouldn't give out blue light and be easy on my eyes/brain!
I love reading at night so an e-reader was the best solution for me!
Did you have insurance on yours? I didn’t elect it but my battery doesn’t seem to last the 10 days that I hear everyone talking about. Like mine will be down from 100 to 80’s in a day with barely any use.
I didn't even know you could get insurance on it tbh but Amazon's customer service/warranty on it was amazing!

I returned my Oasis because the battery life was so poor - I had to recharge every night. Maybe I just got a defective one….
I feel like that could have been a defective one! I have only had to charge mine once in the 2 weeks I've had it!
