I bought a 2008 2 litre petrol in March. Black with 61k miles on the clock when I bought it. 64k miles at the moment. OK so it's nearly 13 years old but it still modern looking, the handling is superb in the countryside, and it's just the most comfortable place to be on a motorway. Mondeo's really are very good cars

@@metigame1450 I wouldn't say so. I get over 500 miles on a full tank but then the fuel tank is quite large at 70 litres. Averages at about 35mpg
Never been a fan of Fords......until now!!!....recently purchased an 2008 2.0 TDCi Titanium X Diesel via Ebay. I have spent the last 12 years sacrificing around £240 per month of disability allowance on brand new cars but paid £1200 cash for this superb vehicle which had been very well looked after & I LOVE it!!!. It is mine, drives like a dream & I am saving myself well over £8000 on previous 3 year contracts. So many gadgets & gizmo's for the price so one very happy teddybear!!

My wife wrote off our 2014 Mk4 wagon, so when looking around for its replacement, we of course looked at the mk5 from 2015. However, the steering wasn't as sharp, and a big price jump to get anything other than the base model .So we ended up getting another 2014, Titanium spec liftback. The tech is very 2014, and the "Premium" sony stereo is pretty dumb compared to what should have been available in 2014, but it is Sony, and sounds awesome, so I can live with it. So what we got - Adaptive Xenon headlights - friggen awesome, follows around corners and lights up side lights when turning - Auto main-beam, Adaptive Cruise Control (not quite smart enough to handle stop/start traffic as it cuts out cruise control below 30kph but still makes a long trip on motorways effortless), lane departure warning (better than having the steering wheel tugging on you, it just buzzes the steering wheel as if you crossed an imaginary rumble strip) blind spot warning indicators, rear cabin lighting, foot well lighting, auto rain sensing wipers, power sun roof, leather/suede interior etc.. Differences between the Titanium liftback and the Zetec wagon we had: I think there is more sound deadening in the liftback, its quieter overall, with less "chugging" sounds from the diesel from the inside and outside, so I can see where some of that extra money went in the higher spec. But still a fantastic family/touring car for the money. The 6 speed dual clutch auto is just so much better than the fluid flywheel autos of its day (almost as good as the Audi dualclutch units I think) and that 2ltr turbo diesel just has so much torque! But I do think that 2014 was the last of the great Mondeos, Ford ruined the 2015 model by americanising it too much. That Aston-Martin front grill isn't matched by the actual driving feel or performance. The eco-1.6ltr turbo petrol just doesn't have the same cruising power as the turbodiesel, and at least here in NZ the TDC is a harder model to find second hand, and when I was looking, there were NO titanium or zetec spec cars for sale, only the base ambiante. I think I will keep our 2014 Titanium TDCi Liftback until it dies.
I believe that cruise control not working below 30mph is a safety feature so people don`t drive without foot on pedals in city.
I currently have a 2007 2.0 tdci. I'm pretty sure that my next car will be a maxed out spec 2014 2.2 tdci or 2.0 ecoboost... I really like almost every aspect of this car :D

In 2008 a bought a brand new 2L Mondeo Titanium TDCI wagon, i did over 500kkm with it, always had its maintenance done in time, no issues at all.
But in 2020 I sold it because i now have a Mondeo MK5, unfortunately this mk5 is not as good as the mk4.
I really liked the MK4, best car I ever had.

i dirve a face lifted mk4 titanium from 2011. bought it with 164000km now i have 280000km. i NEVER had any problems with it! it is still a great car - it is my first ford. people often tell me how good looking this car is. i rarely see many of them on the road.

I have a 2008 Mondeo Ghia 2.0 diesel for almost 4 years. I love it!
@Asim Ayyubi No problems of this kind so far. Only thing I had was a broken blade of the turbocharger propeller. This was repaired 1.5 years ago. No problems since then. It has 252000 km (aprox 156000 miles).
This is the car I'm more likely to buy when I'll get my licence. I'm 17 and always loved Sedans, especially Mondeos / Fusions probably because my parents owned one back in the time, and I live in France, a place where Sedans are not that pricey.

At 17 I'd check how much the insurance would cost you first! You might be better off buying a Citroen 2CV!

The Steering Wheel Feels Very Safe Comperable to Older Mercedes Benz Cars .
The Suspension Is Similar To Audi Sporty But Comfort Is Still There But its Not like Mercedes You Still feel Alot From the Road .
Just the Interior Quallity & Noise Isolation is More Like in a German Compact Car It Not Really Match the Expectations In this Class .
But People Compare this Car With Higher Classes Because the Size Which is Not Fair .
You Get What You Paying For Not More Not Less .
I love mine 2010 Mondeo Edge 2L TDCI. The fuel economy is amazing. I always get 700-730 miles [ 1130- 1180 km on 68 litres ] Tank has 70 litres capacity. My record is so far 750 miles [1206 km ]. What more can one happy owner ask for? It is nice to look at, comfortable car that you can be proud of if you look after it and keep it clean.
Holy cow, is that the pre-lift or post-lift? I can generally get around 900km most times - Mondeo 2.0 TDCI 140bhp (prelift)

how long have you got this car? what engine version, because I heard that there are several of them? I heard that the best option is 2.0 petrol it about 7-8 liters per 100km more than diesel but it is stronger and has no dpf, I want to buy mondeo 2008-2011 but I don't know which engine to choose and Im a little confused. My father in law had 1.8 diesel form 2009 titanium and was very happy.
I've had 3 fords 2 mondeos one focus , all of them were unreliable buckets , trim falling off not starting electrical problems and all under powered

I have a 2008 2.0 petrol. Lovely smooth duratec engine with a light clutch, excellent brakes and it goes over bumps with ease with no harshness. I get 37mpg which is good for such a heavy car.
I have the same engine. A 2008 Zetec model in black I picked up in March with just 61000 miles on the clock (98000 kms). Sensationally low miles! Extremely comfortable and handles like a dream

I bought a MK4 petrol 2L in 2019, at the time 9 years old. From 1975 onwards, always had a Ford Taunus (Cortina), Sierra, Mondeo. I find it most value for the money if bought as a used car.
This one may be getting a bit old...but a face lifted newer one totaly worth it in 2020. I just got one, 2012, 2.0 tdci, 170.000km, no issues since new. Better dash trim, more fresh looking than the pre 2010 ones. Swapped the head unit for a 7 inch android one. Totaly recomend a well looked after one.
I love how the facelift model looks! I also plan to do a mk4 to mk4.5 upgrade!
I got it too, estate FL 2.0 tdci from 2012 ( bought it 2 years back) not a single thing went bad (knock on wood) ... It's a great car, altho mine has less equipment (I honestly dont miss the heated seats or automatic wipers that my old Passat had) the front and back parking sensors are awesome and the automatic ac works perfectly... One thing I really hate is that my phone doesnt fit in the pocket in the dash where tge 12V is... and also it doesnt fit on the top layer of the arm rest (the phone has a 6" screen) 😣. The bottom layer of the arm rest is big but then the phone is too far out of my reach... So of course I put it in the cup holder, but when I drive around with my girl and she puts her phone there we can forget about coffee 😂... It's a small thing, but in 2020 you really need a spot for your big phone 😜. Phone mount are also a pain with that sloped dash (i dont like to stick them on the windshield, they leave those O marks)... Other than those small niggles, ut's still worth having it in 2020

They don't fit anywhere, Ford did not anticipate the future size of phones :)) Keep in mind that bellow the cup holders is the airbag module and I have read of more cases where it was damaged because of the phone. So I got a really nice mount for the dash and it sits perfect.

The best car
I got the 2010 2.0 TDCI Powershift. My goodness does it fly from a stand still. My only complaint would be once you're doing 80 or 100 kmph then floor it, does take its time to speed up.
Avoid the "wet belt" 1.8 tdci unless it's been converted using the retrofit chain kit, after that the old but well proven Lynx unit will outlive the car.
I did Some Research Result : Its True ! The Kit Cost Around 200$ I think its worth it the Wet Belt Is very Risky .
But Some Ford Ecoboost Engines have the Wet Belt too So be Carefull .

Did you do engine remap? I have 2011 2l 103kw mondeo mk4 and it felt slowish, but after remapping car became alive 😁
Fixing EGR (changing/cleaning manifold + new valve or blocking it and ECU re-programming) the 1.8 TDCi behaves much smoother. The low end torque act better. 140PS is easily achieved by remap (optmize) program. That car drives very well, even high mileage (>300 000km). Clutch, alternator, starter, water pump, lower belt and upper belt services and you'll go over 400k

Parking sensors shouldn’t come on unless you are reversing and have selected reverse gear . Why would they come on automatically?
I have one, just had a issue,the rear suspension arms have the camber bolts that rust and you have to change them and in my case the arms too.500 pounds it cost me to do it with original parts
I fitted two rear trailing arm bush`s myself, took the arms off cut out old bush`s and pressed in new ones total cot £50 {£25 each bush} quality one`s not cheap ones

Had to have a new clutch last year and thats not cheap flywheel and everything had to be replaced, overall for a car that was 24 grand brand new i got a bargain and motoring with her is a pleasure (except for the dickheads on the road)

2.0 gasoline is a Duratec engine, one of the most reliable gasoline engines out there. 1.6 ecoboost has more power and torque, though, but it's inherently less reliable (because it has turbo and direct injection)
I've had a Mondeo for not long (2.0 flexifuel) , I find the seat backs too hard. otherwise it's comfortable
There is also problem with cluster , servo steering, break and bad radio signal.
I dont know about the instrument cluster, brakes and radio signal, but I have read it on some forum that they tend to have a problem with the power steering fluid reservoir.
I was lucky not to have any of those issues (Ford S-Max but basically same car just taller) however I did have issues with the Convers+ steering wheel controls which would randomly stop working.

i have searched the forums and cant seem to find anything similar to the issue I'm having although I'm sure its very common.
the interior lights in my Mondeo don't seam to come on when the car is unlocked or the doors are opened, the button for turning all the lights on and the button for the open door function seam to work but when you turn on the reading lights they work front and back. i was wondering is this a fuse or is it a case of needing a new light module in the front.
any help would be great thanks.
Check battery health and load test, check battery earth and connections, check fuses for connection issues, if related to a computer module not running the interior lights correctly, bypass it with an appropriate amp fuse and new wiring, or pay someone to do it.
Also replace batteries in your key fobs if you haven't already.

It is possibly due to your driving style. Be a little more gentle on the pedal. Assuming that everything is OK with the engine
@@pejko89 Thank you, I'm suspecting that my engine is burning the oil. The oil filter has been changed and new oil has been added just a few months ago but it does not seem enough oil from the oil stick. If it is what I'm doubting, could it be the problem to the insane fuel consumption?
I dont know a lot about the petrol engines, but 10l/100km is way too much. Assuming that you dont have a lead foot and take your car on a highway every now and then. Excessive fuel consumption can be linked to a lot of things, starting from dirty fuel injectors to a faulty o2 sensor. I would start by checking the air filter and mass air flow sensor. Clean or replace those and see if it makes a difference. However burning oil is not commonly linked to increased fuel consumption. How much oil are you burning, do you have top it off between services?
ive just picked a 1.8TDCI mk4 up and ive noticed it always seems to have a clatter/knock in 1st and 2nd gear around 1200-2000RPM when pulling away etc.. I was wondering if its normal for this engine to do that? thanks
3,000 to 4,000 Euro to me seems is a lot of money. I am not sure what country in Europe you are advertising this Mondeo from, but I know that in the UK, many of these MK4 Mondeos have no second hand value in terms of price. In the UK, one can easily buy a very good 2008 - 2010 MK4 Mondeo for between 1,000 to, 1,500 pounds. In 2019, l bought my 2008 MK4 Mondeo for 1000 pounds.
That's because UK ones will be driver ONLY un the UK. Nobody wants them outside your country (RHD).

I have the 2.0 petrol. It's a nice car and handles fantastic and is very smooth. I call it a good cruiser because in my opinion it is underpowered in 5th gear when accelerating between 40mph and 50mph. For the size of car the 2.0 is a bit sluggish in my opinion, certainly compared to other cars in it's class.

I have the 2008 2.0 diesel Mondeo. It's the best!
As far as I know, it has 3 different versions with this engine: 115HP, 140HP, 163HP. The point is that you can easily replace the software between these versions, because everything is 100% the same, the weaker versions are just regulated by software. I totally recommend to change it to the 163HP version. It's far more dynamic and I have lower average fuel consumption with that. And because it's a factory software, it won't hurt the engine (but I've also seen some good custom made software modifications).
The maintenance costs are only a little bit higher (where I live) than the Focus' but this car is huge and it's way above the level of the Focus.
I also recommend to replace the old CD player with an Android player. There are many types which have the same desing to fit the interior and the buttons.
I have the 140HP version on 2.0 litre petrol I think, please could you tell me how to replace it to the 163HP version? My current fuel consumption is around 10l/100km and it's killing me even though the driving experience is decent...
@@duyanhnguyen8579 only the diesels can be mapped how you choose. I thought the 115hp was the 1.8 the 140 and 163 are the 2.0 psa engine

The injectors in the 1.8 are VERY reliable. The issue you described was common on early model 2.0 and 2.2, but this was revised in about 2004 (in the mk3 era).
The interior paint issue is due to inappropriate chemicals used for cleaning.
The lack of "low end torque" you described is actually a lack of idle torque. This isn't something I've ever heard anyone complain about before. Usually, people just use the accelerator pedal to overcome this. Furthermore, the engine management has an anti-stall feature, where as you bring the clutch to biting point, the engine idle speed is increased automatically.
Where the 1.8 suffers is turbo-lag. Its not so much the RPM that's a problem, just the spool time. Not a log can be done about that. Perhaps redesign the induction system to reduce the volume of the system between the turbo and intake manifold, but that would likely mean reducing the size of the intercooler, which will then reduce power capability. A remap is always tempting, but they're 125PS standard. That's a fair amount to ask of an 8v 1.8 is diesel already. Increasing this will likely shorten the life of the turbo / clutch / gearbox, etc. I'm not saying don't. I'm just saying think it through.
Disagree the mk 4 looks modern and the design the best mondeo to date...my opinion.
