Had you never driven this MK3 generation Ford Mondeo, you might well think that here was a concept past its sell-by date. You could easily believe that nobody buys this sort of mass-market midrange car any more and that the private buyer long decamped to the superior residual values of the premium marques. Drive a Mondeo and your view will be completely different. You'll realise that this is where the value lies, especially in the used market, and that you're buying a car that flows down a road so much better than a bare bones BMW or an austerity-spec Audi. Here we take a look at the Mondeo as it developed en route to its 2011 model year facelift and highlight what to look out for.

#fordmondeo - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I have had a mondeo for seven years now, no problems at all and very easy to take care of the services. In one hour you can change the oil, oilfilter, airfilter and sparkplugs. Everything is logical and well built.
Bought a 2010 pre facelift 2.0 ZETEC TDCI on 85,000. No smoke,no leaks, and it's supposed to be 138 bhp, but I've recently owned a 2008 BMW 520d at 177bhp and I swear that the Mondeo is more powerful than the BMW. The acceleration is amazing, and the steering and handling is actually better than the BMW, the only negative is the engine noise of the Mondeo as the BMW was much quieter but despite that, I'm well pleased with my Mondeo.
i also bought a 2012 mondeo 1.6tdci 120,000 miles and no oil leaks or anything and i had before a bmw 523i 190hp was burning a whole lot of oil and i agree steering and handling is better in mondeo even the smooth manual gearbox is better, if only the mondeo had rwd it would be the best car,
Money and Ford's in general drive better than rivals
Bought a 2010 Titanium X Sport earlier this year and it drives like new. Excellent car!!
I have had a lot of cars in my years, from Honda's to BMW - I loved how these were European and still have the parts in New Zealand, totally silent on the road and easy (and fast) to drive considering it's FWD, still a great example. Still driving it.
7:21 You can lift the rear seat bases up against the back of the front seats to allow the rear seat backs to rest flatter allowing for a more stable loading space.
Just bought a 2007 1.8 diesel Tdci love it super cool car fully refined beautiful to drive!,
Me too. Great car.
Have you still got it I've just acquired a mondeo titanium x business edition 20 tdci
If you don't mind the loss in fuel economy, I would advise finding one with the 2.5 Turbo Inline-5 Volvo engine. I have one with the optional S pack (sports suspension, sideskirts, different bumper) and it's really a wonderful and sporty car, which is great combined with all the other advantages to a roomy Mondeo.
I'm smitten with these cars. If I saw one from this era and the price was right, I'd have one, no question about it.
Swapped mine 7 years ago for a kia sportage, it's very good no problem at all. But not my Mondeo, I do miss it😢😢😢😢
8:32 the 2.0 EcoBoost (236bhp) with PowerShift came from the Mk4.5 range onwards sadly but with no manual option - In the Mk4 the 200bhp EcoBoost you mentioned with PowerShift auto plays second fiddle to the 217bhp 2.5 Turbo Inline-5 Volvo engine with Manual gearbox imo, for the sound, responsiveness and yet still civilised nature of the engine alone, if not necessarily efficiency. But if we're talking about the "very best" petrol engine in the range, I'd have to say the 2.5T can't be beaten.
Especially because it’s very moderately configured in the Mondeo (the same engine is used in the focus st for example) with “just” 220 ps - you can either free its whole potential with simple tricks (even chip tuning will give you easily a decent amount of more power) or use it in the default setting with enough power and the confidence to drive a car, that easily carries you for many, many miles.
I would not recommend the eco boost engine. It seems to be less durable than the 2.5 liter Volvo engine with 220 hp - there are many of these still running after 300.000 km or more. A really smooth and honest engine with up to 2.100 kg towing capacity and a manual gearbox which is a joy to use!
I had a 1.6 ghia 2009 model. Great car. The only problem was that the inside door panels were falling off. All four doors.
Yes i have that problem right now how did you fix it i am thinking about just superglueing it
Own 2011 2l diesel 150k miles drives great and is reliable needed to change the battery.
You said it Sir😊
The best car
Just buy it, probably most bang for the buck (automatics could be trouble)
This guy completely missed the best engine of them all, the 2.5T with the manual 6-speed gearbox.
The automatic gearbox is a semi, right? How does it shift in Manual Mode? tx
There's a regular 6 speed automatic and the Powershift 6-speed dual clutch transmission.
The Powershift shifts faster but it is not reliable at all. Manual (or even regular 6-speed auto) is better!
Does anyway recommend this car for a first car
YES YES YES, I'm on my 3rd Mondeo only because I've updated them. My partner has kept his original MC with 300,000 k's. Still going like it came out the show room. We are very much a Mondeo family.
Mondeo is a great big family car i have a mk5 mondeo estate looks great drives great. As a first car any ford model is the way to go. Good luck in your search.
The best car
DO NOT GET THIS. For auto the gearbox is just shit and diesel is such a high price atm. I ended buying a 2008 honda accord great reliable fast car
@@jedfraser5473 so no diesel with automatic gear box? but its okay to diesel with manual ?
CORRECT ME SOMEONE PLEASE
Is this a mk4 not mk3
mk4 (3rd generation). Mk1 and mk2 (1st gen.). Mk3 (2nd gen).
He means wider and taller than the 3rd generation
2008-2010 is a MK4 not a mk3🤔
Mk3?
