- Now that the loadstar is able to drive. It isn't getting up to the highway speeds we want. So we swap out our rear differential for a 3.25 ratio. It drives much better than our old 4.88 ratio.

I just found a loadstar to build on my channel. Thanks for the great content. New sub
Nice work! That truck needs a jake for sure. You gotta annoy the neighbors! LOL
It's coming together! Good stuff.
wow....a gear choice of 3.25 was a surprise for that hp engine but if you guys are happy with it, that is all that matters. i figured it with those really small tires it would have been somewhere between 3.54, 3.70 or 3.90. i wish i could find a body that nice. mine is pretty rough. my old kenworth has high back seats that are slim from front to back. might be a good seat to try the fit.
3.25 is lower than we thought we would go. But it makes cruising a lot better. We did notice the lack of hp for the low speeds. And we plan on bumping up the hp to compensate that!
Love it brother. Cornbinder life !
The higher the number the lower the ratio. The lower the number the higher the ratio. Ex: a 4:11 is slower that a 3:55. I do need a drum brake assembly like that. Then I'd be able to change out to a better transmission
I love this rig!!!! So awesome 😎
Tremec gear ratio calculator is awesome for this kind of gear selection. I ran the 2.80 with the eaton 6306a and 19.5s was perfect. 1950rpm at 68
Awsome....much respect to you guys
Thank you 🙌🏻
That thing is GORGEOUS!
Thanks man!
Cool truck guys.
Thank you
Man she sounds so good
Hope when you finish the mechanics that you will detail the chassis etc to make a nice truck.
That’s the plan!
I have a ford f800 16' flat bed with 5.9 Cummins 6 speed tran. My top speed is 65 mph. I like your build.
Yeah same thing with my '90 F600
4:88 ratio is a lower ratio than the 3:25 you changed to. It's like the trans, low gear is a low ratio & has no speed & high gear is a high ratio that does have speed. Too many people get confused with this & get it backwards.
I will be the first to admit I always get it backwards! At least I know smaller gear, higher speeds haha
@@gingerauto I like your truck, it's cool. I have a 66 IH Howe cabover ex fire truck with a V903 Cummins, 5 speed & a 2.90 gear, it doesn't know what a hill is!
Dont raise the low back seats, install a dropped visor & everything will be ok...😆 To bad it doesn't have air ride yet would have been cool to see it in
The Peoples Convoy!
on your extended shifter tube . pack with sand and get rid of any transmission noise or whine . works very well
Interesting. Will have to try. Thanks.
Badass
What's with the drive shaft sticking up in the middle of the cab.
Awesome videos guys. I'm also in central California. I do have a DT466 mechanical New Generation that I want to put into something. I'm near Fresno California where are you guys located?
I'm in Fresno and I'm dt466 swapping my 51 ford f6
@@rodnozouf1466 awesome. I'm in Hanford. Send pictures if you can.
Got factory bucket s 4 binder 4 that
What are the numbers on the wheel bearings and race?
How did you lower the front??
Gonna have an engine brake? Noise ordinances prohibit? Bumper hitch or Gooseneck ball?
It would be fun to do an engine brake down the road. We are going to be adding a bumper hitch and gooseneck hitch.
Seeing this a long time after published. Is that a 24 valve Cummins and what frame did you put it on. I know where one of these trucks are that I can buy. Been thinking about building the exact same thing for 15 yrs now. Lol. Coolest ride I've seen built out of an old international.
It’s a dt360. Still a 5.9 like the cummins. But a lot beefier. And we are using the stock frame with 04 f650 axles.
... you said that you used f650 axles... But that looks like a IH differential?? Am I missing something? I'm getting ready to tear into my 1970 loadstar and I'd like to know if I should plan on getting rid of the stock IH diff and go with something else or if I can make it work?
I just picked up 67 chevy C-60 with 366 wanting do air ride also wanted do different diff
Sounds like I will be a sweet truck!
Great truck!🔥🔥🔥🔥
What front axle was used?
What rear end was used?
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The front and rear axles are from a 2004 f650 truck.
@@gingerauto thanks
Curious as to what motor you have in it at this stage of your build?
International dt360
Its Screaming MORE FUEL PLEASE!!!
We need to bump it up!
Did you change the speedo gears or what? GPS speedo?
Yes it’s a gps speedo. Actually pretty accurate.
I think 308 is the one
What size are the wheels on the truck? I’m looking for a set just like that.
They are 24.5 shaved down to 24.
What model axle and actual ratio is it?
It’s a 17060s off an 04 f650. We just put a 3.25 ratio in it.
What vehicle is the complete rear diff from?
Axle is out of an 04 f650. Then we bought a 3:25 diff for it. I do not know what the 3:25 came out of.
@@gingerauto Awesome, thank you for the information, loving the build!
What are your axles out of again been trying to find a set to put under my loadstar
An 04 f650.
@@gingerauto thank you what’s the front axle out of
@@ebay376 there both from the f650.... watch the previous videos.... it's all in there
So did you ever put a flat bed on it ?
Haven’t yet
So what's the rear end out of..
04 f650
What year is your truck and rearend
Truck is a 71. Front and rear axles are out of an 04 f650.
Do y’all still have that extra diff? If so i need a diff e brake set up for my axle if you’re willing to sell yalls extra
We do have it. You want the whole thing or just the ebrake?
@@gingerauto just the e-brake, my rear is the gear ratio i need I just don’t have an e brake
Just gonna not worry about wasted brakes?
We put new pads on it.
@@gingerauto and you greased the slides, I'm assuming. That's the most likely reason they burned the outside pad.
Anyway, I'm jealous, so might have to add one to my fleet!
Its geared to low you mean
Yeah I mix them up all the time.
Were at California

Thats to low of a gear. Low gears go slower and are for pulling. High gears go faster and are meant to use when you have gained enough speed with the lower gears. If you can start out in 3rd gear its geared way low. Your rpms are higher with lower gears.
Geared to LOW
It’s better now.
