- Haven't really done anything like this before, so bear with me if any of the editing is a little weird lol. Hope it can help someone though! Remember, its okay to keep fighting games simple when you're starting out.

As someone who’s coming from Tekken, these are some super helpful tips! 🙏🏼 SF6 will be the first Street Fighter I plan to properly learn.
Same! The only thing I can do in sf is combos, but man my anti air and neutral is shit
Same here man
Hello fellow Tekken fan
I think you will find easier street fighter to pick up and master than tekken
@@AdamL_18 it’s not really easier. Just different.
That was really good. I've only dabbled in fighting games but I do want to give SF6 a good solid try this time.
The poke and anti-air stuff definitely makes a lot of other stuff I've seen make a lot more sense now, I just never really thought about it. Looking forward to the character guides, cause I'll need them!
I'd love a Manon guide since she's ubique in her hit grabs vs command grabs and is very RPS dependent as a grappler
What's RPS?
@@Ramxenoc Rock, Paper, Scissors.
@@OwNAvenged Appreciate the info. I feel dumb but thank you.
These itroductory guides are a blessing. Sometimes the overall complexity in the mecanics of fighting games makes me believe I'm doing everything wrong and that the game is not for me. Seeing you point out the block/throw/punch triangle was very enlightening.
As someone who already has a grasp on the basics of Street Fighter, I always love to refresh on them and your video is an excellent way to do so! Looking forward to your guides!
I love fighting games, been hearing the words poke , anti-air etc but had no idea what the heck those really are. I have been quite clueless about this genre. This info should at least give me some objective for what to do if I fire up a fighting match. This is really helpful
I need a beginner's guide like this for Dhalsim then. Since he seems to have some long ranged poke , anti-air , fireball , teleportation and throws.
I'd love to learn about Chun Li. She's by far my favorite character just because of her strong legs and flashy kicks, but as a beginner it is a little intimidating to hear that she is the most "technical" and complicated character in the game.
It's not the same, but I main Tekken and I play Mishimas, they are some of the hardest characters to play, and I can see that now that I am an "intermediate" player lol
I switched to one of the easiest characters and instantly hit my highest rank a couple days later. If I was gonna tell someone who to learn id pick an all around character, because it's less likely to make you rage quit from frustration and it teaches you all aspects of the game, but I think you should play who you think is cool. Just remember that you suck, and that's totally fine. 99% of players in any game you can think of are in the bottom half of the ranks, they all suck, I suck too. What's important is having fun, so even though I could definitely be at a higher rank right now, I went back to my favorites because it's more fun. I got better at Fighting Games when I started to be less salty about losing, so I think you should play chun li, and if you feel the need switch to someone else, but as long as you're having fun you're going to get better way faster no matter who you play.
@@tonyl9636 I appreciate this comment. I indeed got my ass kicked on the SF6 beta and didn't win a single match. (Though in fairness I spent most of it practicing basic combos and probably played less than 10 matches in total.) Thanks!
Love the simplification of your guide, Chun Li guide +1
I'd love to see a Kimberly guide
I’d love to see a beginner Chun Li guide
I needed this (nice stuff) 👍
This is phenomenal. I seem to find very few SF guides actually breaking it down to basics like this, excited to see the formula applied to individual characters on the SF6 roster (especially Juri).
One thing that could be helpful to include in the character specific videos is a basic punish combo, although that may go a slight step beyond the absolute basics...
great video! looking forward to the character guides even as someone well versed in street fighter and fighting games :)
With this being a big year for the fgc, I wanted to start my first fighting game with sf6. I’ve been struggling heavily and I’m super confused on where to start. This helps a lot. Looking forward to the rest of your content as i progress through this journey.
Great video, excited for the rest of this series, genuinely great stuff
Haven't watched the video yet, but wow that art in the thumbnail is gorgeous. Amazing style. Very cute.
bro i could see your channel becoming the "Melee Tutorials" of SF6, or Fighting games in general. Keep it up
Top notch video with excellent choice of BGM
love the simplicity. just getting started into the fighting game genre, this helps!
Very easy to understand and digestible video, great stuff!
Just came across your videos in to find hope and I really appreciate your quick and concise format here. Keep up this format and content and you’ll climb that sub ladder in no time, I have mo doubt.
Thank you so much for this easy to understand guide! Would love to see more :)
I was absolutely addicted to the open beta and cannot wait for release. Grew up on Smash and picked up GG Strive on launch and absolutely fell in love with Potemkin. Zangief looks like he'll be my fit of just wanting to land that one big grab for mega damage
Cannot wait to apply these basics to my gameplay!
helped me out so much. would love a kimberly guide once the game drops
Nice video! I’ll share this with a few friends!
Think the best guide day 1 would be ken and Ryu guide, both being very beginner friendly shotos, as well as having different positions: ken having more rush down style of play and Ryu having more neutral style of play
This is a great way to explain the basics of fighting games like Street Fighter. Looking forward to your character guides once SF6 drops next week.
I appreciate this video. Tried my hand again in the demo earlier today, and i *still* have a lot to learn in terms of conditioning myself for the right answers in the right situations-- and that's only for *Luke's* gameplay style thus far.
My experience with fighting games mainly lies with Kya: Dark Lineage, MK: Shaolin Monks (only the singleplayer) and more recently, Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. All of them are good games, and Kya especially i've enjoyed a lot.
But the feel of Street Fighter is very different. Pushing the left analog stick up to jump instead of using a button is something i don't remember *ever* coming across before, I have a harder time memorizing all the moves, and the quarter analog stick spin inputs jammed my braingears-- for i've never seen inputs like *those* either.
But still, i'm excited for the game and interested in playing it for myself. This is not in the least because of the "Your Story" mode, for i've been wanting more games with Figher-like combat and a focus on singleplayer for a while now.
In any case, to find one's footing, i very much appreciate this video.
I also want to clarify on two of the games i mentioned.
Regarding Kya: Dark Lineage, it like a PS2 action platformer.
There is surprisingly in-depth combat in the vein of Tekken (or so i've heard), as well as board sliding, wind gliding, freefalling, some *very* light puzzles and stealth, and riding on the back of a goofy raptor-like animal. It's got rough spots, but still i recommend looking it up!
You learn new moves from purchasing new bracelets, that all offer a new set of attacks.
First bracelet offers some Punch (Square) and Kick (Triangle) combos. The second bracelet offers more advanced Kick combos (which Dee Jay has been reminding me of), with different ones based on the position of the left analog stick relative to the enemy's position, while you press the Kick button.
So holding the stick backwards and pressing Kick twice leads into a double backwards salto kick, holding it down leads into a leg sweep that leads into a double kick from a hand stand that ends in an axe kick, and more.
Fourth and Fifth bracelet offer Grab moves and better evasive skill (a Jumpover, a sidestep, a quick step forward and a roll away), a different grab depending on if you stand in front, on the sides of, or behind an enemy, as well as a move where you pull the enemy back and kick them away,.
And there's some more that i'll not spoil here.
I'm hoping for Kya to get more attention and professional analysis in the future, as well as a second chance to live up to all the potential it has.
The second game is Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. Story, world structure and camera perspective in line with the Norse God of War games, gameplay more in line with God Hand, and a colourful art direction with *bizarre* creatures.
In the world, you can find different Stances, of which you can equip two to swap between at any time, even swap stance mid-combo.
There's a:
-Basic combo string
-Charge attack
-Running attack
-Parry
-Attack from a directional dodge (sideways, forwards and backwards)
for every stance, each of which has its own animations.
However, you can also assign three different Special Attacks to different inputs. And if you press an attack button the *moment* an attack lands on an enemy, the next attack will come out faster.
It's really fun to mix and match your personal combat style like this. The Zeno Clash series as a whole deserve more attention.
Would be interested in hearing your view on either of these games, amongst other people more experienced with Fighting games.
I like that phrase. "Be kind to yourself". thank you for the reminder.
Thats an excellent approach for new beginners and anyone who wants to at least know what to do playing any SF game. Great vid bro.
SF6 is my first real attempt to get into a fighting game, I’ve watched many videos to try and learn stuff and this one is definitely helpful and easy to understand, thanks for putting it out there for new players like me. Also I really want to main cammy in sf6 so a guide for her would be great
As a new player to fighting games, this was pretty helpful, excited to learn more. Had a lot of fun with the open beta.
This video was exactly what I was looking for! Simple and straight forward!
there's nothing better than a good short video
I am new to street fighter and this is exactly what I was looking for!
The best newbie tutorial about sf6 so far, thank you! Please continue sharing more.
do Chun li
she'll be the first!
This is the video I've been looking for 🙏 thank-you
You need way more subscribers and a lot more views. This is seriously the most helpful guide I’ve seen here. You can actually win matches by perfecting these concepts! Subscribed!
As someone new to fighting games and wanting to get into streetfighter, this was very useful
Precite the thorough guide, coming from a fan of the Mortal Kombat series. Street Fighter 6 is my first game of the Street Fighter franchise. Great video, thank you brother.
A Luke guide would be awesome. For beginners and medium players.
I would love for you to explain combo routes, i am a long time tekken player but i never really got into street fighter. I have a huge problem figuring out what is a combo and what isn't. Im specifically taking about moved that should hit an opponent when it comes to hitbox and frame data, but they don't. it's never explained in a tutorial and never mentioned by any CZcamsrs. Because they all have a fundamental understanding for those kinds of things. For example why can't Luke do 2 flash knuckles and add a ex flash knuckle at the end or why can't you hit airborne opponents with normal moves. If you are not used to this combo structure its frustrating to learn because nobody talks about it.
Great for this guide!
To be honest i was scared to play 6 button fighters at first but this definitely helped boost my confidence im coming from ggst and mk11 and wanted to try street fighter and sf6 is my first entry
Never played a fighting game before but picked up SF6, played it for a little while and realised I was in way over my head. Was gunna give up and play something else but watching this kinda makes me wanna give it another go. Thanks man.
I've been playing street fighter for 6 years and this is a really good guide. It's short, concise, and focuses on giving players a game plan rather than just explaining how things work. Well thought out.
Amazing video! Would love to see you do a guide with Juri. If you do, please include some modern control stuff for us new players ^^
Awesome video!
I'd love to see a Ken guide
👉👈
thaaaank you finally. most tutorials start with things like "bread and butter combos" and im not on that level of execution yet. worst thing the combos they show are hard af. to me a bread n butter combo is line 3 or 4 hits. something anyone can do like heavy arial button into ground button into special move and thats it.
These are, by far, the best newbie guides for street fighter on the internet. All other guides go way too far from the start which is why I can't give them to my friends that just start out. Your guides are actually noob friendly. Great job
oh this is wonderful!!!! truly i pray you have a blessed day
Wow! Great video. Very helpful. Thanks! 👍
hey man nice video! I'm fairly new to fighting games and this is my first street fighter game, if you could do a ken absolute beginner video that'd be sick, picked up the beta and im having a ton of fun
Chun li is way to OP 😂
Great video - thank you!
This is gold, thank you. Could you do a Marisa video please?
I'm already at high level, but this was a great video of the basics. Well done bruh
Awesome! I’m a new street fighter player starting with SF6 and I will say that, this should help me once I find a character I like and think is cool
This is such a goog guide
okay. I would like guides on Cammy, Ken and Luke. I would alos like more explination of stopping combos. Higher ranks seems to go straight through my blocks and their attacks just keep going despite blocking, grabbing or special moves. How to I interrupt these and stop attacks that get through block. Also how do I get through people's block. At lower level I have attacks that seem to cut through opponents but higher up its seems literally every attack I do is easily brushed aside with blocks.
Thanks for the guide👍
One thing to add: Projectiles are (basically) the same thing as Pokes, just with longer range. Toss out a bunch of fireballs in a row, make them jump over it because they're tired of blocking, hit them with the anti-air. So, once you're feeling confident throwing out pokes to make them jump, practice working projectiles into the mix.
Showing this to my non-fighting game friends
Amazing!
You forgot to mention throw tech
What a great video!
Looking forward to your teaching characters videos. I want a video about Kimberly.
thoroughly helpful fam
I like how you say throws, yet have Phenom using command grabs which are totally different things and don't even touch on the fact one can be teched and the other you're forced to guess. I feel that was something you should have went deeper on.
that one frame of honda jumpscared me
been waiting for someone to mention it LOL
@@artsywak im going to bed now and he’ll be my sleep paralysis demon
my first matches in sf6 i got perfect koed a LOT, because i didnt know i could block
I think you should do a guide for Luke on modern controls as that is the starting point for new players.
Chun-Li guide (I know she's technical in this game and maybe not beginner-friendly, but you gotta play characters that interest you regardless to stick with it imo).
I had fun with her in beta and almost hit gold. I need to learn charge but her stance helps with it. Honestly a lot of characters look awesome in SF6 but I'd also be interested in Cammy, Marisa, Ken and Zangief (though I never could do his 360 input as a kid when I played SF2 so I'll see if I can now)
Rusty with my input motions too since I haven't played a fighter in a long time.
The biggest takeaway for me was that light attacks can beat throws
Me's coming to Street Fighter 6 from the Guilty Gear games, where throws just kinda beat any other attacks due to their sheer startup speed
That'll be very good to know, thankies
Great stuff. You have a new subscriber.
Very nice video. I love the Rock, Paper, Scissors. Thank you.
I would really appreciate a guide on Kimberly. She looks like a lot of fun but doesn't really play like the characters im used to.
This is my first street fighter so thank you
i just wanna see this guy try to explain what the fuck is blanka style
I have no idea if he did Kimberly or not but I would like to see a just basic with Kimberly
Please more vids like these!!!!!
I just subscribed and I wanna see Chun Li guide please
Chun li guide would be appreciated
Wish there was a love button. Great tutorial
Would really love a sf6 gief guide.
Also what Modern control can benefit his play. (Will play on classic, but curious what M control can do for him)
I main juri and her "best" poke is the worst poke due to DIs. This is probably true for all the characters in SF6. Basically you just can't poke mindlessly as you can get punish countered at any given time.
Hardly the absolute basics, doesn't even explain what the bars are.
saying fighting games are complicated is the wildest claim i think i've heard this month, it's literally about as simple as modern games can get without being 8bit
Manon and Chun Li guides pls
Based. Thank You.
I'd love a short guide like this teaching what are overdrives, what happens when you are burned out, what is a wiff punish, because aparently it takes AN HOUR to teach this stuff in other videos?? Like wtf? I don't even play, I'd just like to be more technical while watching championships, no way I'm investing 1 hour just to learn exactly what Critical Art means and how it's different from a level 3 special move.
Is it worth practicing on SFV? Will some of the basic mechanics translate over to 6?
yes! there are definitely some big differences between the games, but these basics will work just as well in any street fighter game
Does that apply to mk1? thanks for the tutorial btw!
please do guile!
Thank you so much i just started playing sf3 and i was getting destroyed
I used to be damn good when I was a kid. I was good at Street fighter, Tekken, DOA, and Mortal Kombat. And now I'm not
Thank you because only the first move made a difference when playing with experienced players. STG player reporting
