    Welcome back to Hourless Life where we are driving around the world!
    In this week's episode we actually survive a tornado in Honduras!
    We were on the outskirts of it, but there were trees down, live electrical wires, and pooling water involved. Also our normally indestructible Alu-Cab Shadow Awn was essentially destroyed. We do our best in this video to take you through what happened and share how we made it through this ordeal.
    Hope you enjoy the journey and, as always, if you have any questions, let us know. We do our best to answer every comment on CZcams.

    Wow - THAT really speaks to the great craftsmanship and quality of the materials. The awning frame bent but did not shred or severely tear the awning material it seems. I admit this is one of the first times you guys are visibly "tired." It also shows that you guys are blessed, undaunted, and always ready and prepared (even when you cannot predict that type of preparation)

      Seriously. The Alu-Cab Shadow Awn is a beast and definitely the best awning we've seen. Considering trees were being uprooted all around us, we're really blessed that we made it out with the limited damage we had. We were tired in that video. But we're rested now and ready to continue the journey. We cross into Nicaragua tomorrow brother. Miss you! ~ Eric

    I'm glad everyone is okay. I grew up in Tennessee, so I've experienced a tornado or two.. the first one was the one that I saw, I was 7 and it destroyed most of main street in our small town. As I said I'm glad you were all safe, things can be replaced.

    How frightening at the time, but you two are amazingly strong and brave! It is incredible that the community lives through this with support groups already to clean up and help, such blessed people. Too bad about the awning, still functioning a bit

      It was pretty dicey for a few moments for sure. But the community here is amazing. The awning unfortunately is totaled. It still opens and closes but it isn't really functional and the folks at Alu-Cab USA have already looked at it and essentially totaled it. It has lost its structural integrity. ~ Eric

    Praise God for His protection of y'all. I am convinced that He cares for each of us, and causes us to be protected, not from everything, but from much worse circumstances. Hoping you can get your awning fixed or replaced. May shade follow you until then!

    Oh my gosh guys! What an experience for you all.
    Sorry I’m so late in commenting
 I’ve just had a busy time there.
    It goes without saying that I’m so glad you are all safe and no one was injured in any way.
    Being so close to a tornado though
. Wow that’s scary!
    I’ve wondered in the past Eric about how watertight Dauntless would be in really heavy rain if say it started through the night when you were sleeping.
    But I guess all that would’ve been checked before starting your journey.
    See you’ve posted another video so I’ll go watch that now.
    Once again
 just glad you are all ok.
    It’s all part of the adventure I suppose
.. take care

      Hi Marilyn, so glad you are getting caught up. Hope all is well with you and your busy season. It was really interesting how we didn't freak out. We just got out, took a look, made intentional decisions and executed. I wish we had been able to film the actual movement from the field, it was just too harrowing. Also, rainy season here in Central America is no joke! It rains ALL the time and can really wear you down. Sometimes I question our life decisions on extremely bleak days. But then we get a glimmer of sun or daylight and everything is right as rain. Wait. That didn't really work did it? Haha. We have no leaks as of yet in DAUNTLESS, but we have had some wear and tear that we are noticing on some of the seals that will need to be overhauled eventually. Bottom line we are ok and we're glad we made it through. ~ Eric

      Gracias amigo. Unfortunately the awning is totaled. The folks at Alu-Cab have already looked at everything I've sent them and they've essentially totaled it. It has lost its structural integrity. It just looks like it isn't bad because we can open and close it. But we only did so to dry it out so we could store it. ~ Eric

      Thanks much David. We’ve been doing this for a bit. Believe me when I tell you that there was no need to stake down and that even had we staked down it wouldn’t have done anything but caused flying missile hazards of steel stakes. Trees were being uprooted all around us. There was nothing that could have prevented what happened and we’re just glad it didn’t end up with injuries or loss of life. ~ Eric

      We also stay away from the trees as we had a storm a few years back that dropped a large branch across our bonnet. Also the gumtrees here in Australia drop branches without warning, they are called widow makers.

      Hey Michael, sadly we haven't. Much of it has to do with logistics. It is a challenge to get one to where we are, especially when we are moving all of the time. We are in talks with the folks at Alu-Cab USA / OK4WD and we hope to find some resolution soon because it never.stops.raining. It is a consistent deluge down here and that awning makes all the difference. We're so glad we made it out safe and are ever thankful. We do miss our awning though. Desperately. ~ Eric

    Did you have the alu-cab awning tie down kit? OK4WD sells it and im tempted to get it for high desert winds.

    • @HourlessLife
      @HourlessLife  Pƙed 2 lety

      Hey Cory, so the Alu-Cab Shadow Awn has tie-downs built in. However at the time there was no need or indication that we'd need them. There wasn't even a breeze to contend with. Just rain. But a violent wind came out of nowhere in seconds, and only lasted a few seconds before it dissipated. But in its wake it left trees down and power lines down. It also destroyed our awning as we showed in the video. ~ Eric

    It's not "rainy season". That would be July to December. You're in summer right now but keep in mind it's normal for big storms in a tropical climate,

    But that’s why you pay for house/car insurance
 no pun intended but there would be no difference if my roof leaks dirt and stains a $2000 couch. Look into your insurance and use it, that’s why we pay for it 👌 I love the good content tho, hoping for a fast repair for you and your families home ❀

    • @HourlessLife
      @HourlessLife  Pƙed 2 lety

      Sadly Rayne insurance doesn't work the same here as it does back home. it is prohibitively expensive. It would costs multiples of thousands of dollars to cover our rig fully for just 6 months in these countries. So while we have insurance to protect others, we don't have it to protect much of our equipment. Glad you enjoy the content! Appreciate the kind words. ~ Eric
