    Great job team! I love the idea of designating this highway an "Overlanding Badge of Honor". I think you're on to something, Eric!

      There definitely should be an International Overlanders Badge of Honor. I can think of quite a few roads that would be worthy of this title! This one would be near the top of the list. Glad you enjoyed the video BoCo! ~ Eric

      It is one of those things that you are completely freaked out when you are actually doing it, and once you are done and through it, you look back and marvel at. But during the drive itself, it is tense. So glad we were able to share it with you. ~ Eric

      Thanks Christopher! Definitely one of the most nerve wracking moments on our journey so far. There have been many, but not many that lasted 7.5 hours. This was next level for us. Essentially, we leveled up. Glad you enjoyed the video, and there's plenty more coming! ~ Eric

      Glad we got to meet you too. Such a great event filled with amazing people each in their own right. I've always said that there are two types of people in this world. People who talk about doing things, and people who do them. You will always find me in the latter group. My hope is that people would be spurred to follow their own dreams whatever they may look like. ~ Eric

      So glad you enjoyed it Debi! You are welcome to ride on DAUNTLESS' bumper anytime you like. The mountains were stunning, but the drive was tense. It is one of those things that you look back on in awe, but during the moment you are solidly in prayer. Caspian is such a trooper. ~ Eric

    Amazing adventure & thank you for sharing it. Tip for the bug bites. Find a cigarette lighter that uses the little electric popper for lighting the flame. Pull the electric igniter from the lighter. Now when you squeeze it’ll snap a small shock/spark. Use that and shock on & around the bites. On many different bites the electric shock will breakdown the stuff causing the itch/pain.

    I wonder if there's an understood etiquette on mountain roads like that. Like down hill traffic has right of way, so uphill pulls over or something.

    • @HourlessLife
      @HourlessLife  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Josiah, you would think so. But that is not the case. Even if it is, it isn't followed by anyone. I actually asked about this too. It's kind of go and when you find yourself in a situation figure it out together. ~ Eric

    Did you ask locals if there was a rule about right-of-way in the single lane areas? In shipping lanes such as the Detroit River, boats going upcurrent are to yield to boats traveling downcurrent as the former has more rudder control. It would make sense from a braking safety perspective that those going downhill would have right-of-way to avoid additional braking.

    • @HourlessLife
      @HourlessLife  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I actually did. The short answer is no. They don't have an unwritten code,, and no laws that are followed regarding it.
      And there are so many things that don't make sense to us culturally, and from an "order" standpoint. They really just don't live that way down here. Not in the cities, and not in the remote areas either.
      Laws are but suggestions, and everyone kind of does what they want. Having said that, they are very polite, although their actions on roads can come across as self-serving especially in the cities.
      Having said that, on these roads, everyone knows the level of risk, and more prudence is exercised here than in the cities. As a general rule. But not always. ~ Eric

    Per your forum post regarding the battery issues on the Gladiator, it's super simple to bypass the aux battery and to run the system without it.
    Here's the video I made on the process. The only thing that Is erroneous in the video is that this does not disable the ESS (Electronic Stop Start) system.
    You can ignore that part of the description.
    Why do this? Because it cuts your chances of having a catastrophic battery failure in half. The two batteries are as one most of the time, so if one begins to fail it will cannibalize the other in attempts to constantly recharge. So instead of losing one battery, you lose two.
    This simple process eliminates that condition.
    Good luck!
