Major Frenchy! I just wanted to say after numerous times of watching your video ( as you suggested!) I have finally cracked all my dof issues! You are an absolute legend! I can’t thank you enough. I need to share some of my Pinball video now as I’m totally blown away by how good it looks, feels and plays. The addressable LEDs and pinmos give it a whole new sense of realism! Thank you sir! 👍
Thank you for the praise. I am glad you found your issues. Glad my videos could help. I would strongly suggest you publish your videos now that you have the knowledge and share it. People love to see new content.
@@MajorFrenchy thank you sir! I have tagged you in my Short on CZcams so hopefully you get the notification. I should really have documented the entire build but do check it out. Out of interest, what is your preference when it comes to tables for playability? Do you have a favourite? We should defnitely do a collaboration on the channel!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Just ordered Pinmos from Arnoz and cant wait to istall strips & rings ;-)
16:11 This was the KEY ! THX !!!
Sweet Apples Major. Thanks for the video mate.
Man Frenchy, you and the team are the best! Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to keeping the pinball culture alive and thriving! Awesome video!!! My build has a long way to go but you and the team make it all possible!
your tutorial are pure gold! i really appreciate the effort! i'm just in this stage of my pincab! thank you again!
@MajorFrenchy BTW great videos and tutorials, thanks so much for helping people. Is it safer to use Arnoz's Voltboards with PinMos/Wemos? Those have fuses to protect the standalone PinMos system or would I need a FuseBox board? Also I don't quite understand the whole power LEDs up before you plug in PC mini usb to wemos/pinmos? Can you explain what happened and why or how that works so I understand fully what not to do? Would Arnoz's USB Killa (between PC and Wemos) do anything to protect that from happening or it that for something else? Just trying to not mess up so I don't toast anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the feedback.
To answer some of your questions, i am not sure about the warning for plugging it in before it gets powered up. It is in his documentation, so i mentioned it. This may just mean to not apply power to the Pinmos if using the 5v connection on the board, but it is not being used for Virtual Pinball purposes. The board gets its power from usb.
As for the fuses, i do not use a fuse for the led or addressable led ever. Is it safer to put them in? Probably , is it needed? Nope. I had rgb led and addressable leds on several systems and i never installed fuses for those and never had a led or a board port blow, but if you want to be extra careful by all means put them in, it won't hurt
Okay, I think I get it. But it doesn't hurt to have my 5v LEDs powered up when I plug the LEDs data wire in the PinMos/Wemos like you did in the video, right? Correct me, if I'm wrong, I'll just do it that way when I get to it. Cool. Thanks again.
Muchas gracias desde España
ws2813 is not only data Redundant its 12vdc for power. You power them off your dedicated 12vdc. :)
Hi. did you use voltboards to setup your LEDS strips and Matrix or are they all connectied directly to the PINMOS. If they are all connected to the PINMOS are all the 5v connections from each LED strip, matrix etc connected to the single GRD connector on the Pinmos
Directly to Pinmos. I never used voltboards for addressable led.
Hello! great video! So I'm about to start a rebuild of my Vpin and I'm to add 4 addressable LED panels from Cleveland Software. My question is, with the current POVs would you recommend putting the LED panels under the glass and have the monitor tilted down in the back or put the LED panels on the backbox and keep the monitor flush with the glass? It's a mini vpin (Haunted House ToyShock gutted and PC added running Pinup Popper). Thanks for your advice!
When it comes to the Dot Matrix Display, most people pick a location based on the actual layout of their cab. I had one, which I now removed, but it was under the Glass level. The reflection never bothered me, but it bugs certain people. You can always use a tinted plexyglass in front of the panel to dim them and by the same time improving the reflection. This was my setup, and it worked for me.
How do you feel about putting them on the backbox right above the glass or elsewhere on the backbox?
What pins on the semis mini match the pinkos? D1 on pinmos. Is what pin on wemos and so on?
Thanks for another great video, i gpt the same pyle speakers as you mate, did you get rattle of the sub, if youndid how do you stop it? I installed mine last week amd running them through a fosi bt30d pro amp more than capable to handle the sub, it just rattles a bit when i crank up the bass
Nice tutorial! You must spend a fair bit of time filming these.
Eagerly awaiting for you to get bored of the 1080p stock screen and doing a screen swap tutorial 👍🏻
Haha ty. Indeed. Honestly i stop counting the hours because i enjoy making them. I probably will at some point upgrade to a 4k
Hi Frenchy. Thanks for the video. Is there a limit to the number of LEDs to set up on the matrix? I'm thinking of installing 3 boards of 8 * 32 LEDs each one (756 in total)
512 max i believe
I have the 12v LEDs for flipper buttons And LED wiz I hooked up 12v power to wear it said 12v and green blue red wire to ports on led wiz 123 but I get nothing what am I doing wrong. If I take say the red wire out and hook to ground I get red light. What do I need to do..
Can the lights be adapted directly from the kl25z board?
I did everything and still nothing is working i have a wemos mini v4 if i use the test button my leds work only no lights in vpx
Re-check the files location, remove duplicates if you have Dof in other folders, unblock all files, naming of the files, wrong Globalconfig file, re check your online Dof config.
Check the info section on ALed on my site for a step by step. www.majorfrenchy.com/aled
Great tutorial. I am currently using a Teensy controller for my addressable leds, is there any advantage to switching over to a Wemos controller? Any better or faster effects? Thanks.
No, they both do the same thing. Different brand.
I followed this guide to the letter but set up my speaker rings separately. The left one is on all the time with a multicolor display, the right one works as expected. Neither the left or right strip work, just a few LED’s on white at the end. The matrix works. How do you suggest I debug the odd LED behavior? I got the same strips and rings as in the video
if it is on all the time multicolor it is due to the connections. check your wiring
Perfect
You just forgot to check the "Test button" before flashing Wemos D1 Mini Pro :)
@@LatelierdArnoz It goes by quick, but i did check it czcams.com/video/m4VdcNsHLPw/video.html
I think he means uncheck so you can use the test button on the board
Followed your video using the Wemos. Setup and seems to work good. HOWEVER, It works with the Leprechaun Table, But I cant seem to get it working with AFM, ACDC, ect. a couple other of my tables seem to work, Simpsons, TOM....Question is.. Is there a specific rom or table version needed for the MX to work? Because these tables I mentioned still have the "regular" DOF working just fine. Thanks for all you do!!
I am puzzled. DOF works or does not. I have never heard of an intermittent DOF issue. Maybe post your question in the Addressable led thread on the VPC Discord.
@@MajorFrenchy Thanks. Im only running side lights for MX. They are set both for PF effects. Should I be combining ? My side lights for the same tables you are showing arent lighting up exactly how yours are.
Ah i see. In this case the side strips are not showing on some tables because DOF for those table is not configured for it. Nothing you can do, it's how the code was made. And to answer your question, yes, if you create a combo for your side strips , you will see more effects.
@@MajorFrenchy One last question - again, thanks for all the help! What did you combine to get the red/blue and flashes on your AFM table in the "loose strip" video? I play the same part of the game and that never shows up.
Is there a limit on how many leds the wemos can control. I'm testing my led configuration and thought my 8x32 was burned out but turns out it can only reach to 600. And it could only control 3/4 of the way through
I should add I'm testing with the small controller the the speaker rings come with
I do not believe there is a limit. As long as you have enough Amperage pushing. Sometimes in the default test, a limit is set but in the gameplay, you should get the full array
Thanks for the vid. In tiny tools I noticed you had color order GRB in one place and RGB in another. Does it matter and if so how do you know the correct value?
It will depend what type of LED you have. It will say in the description where you buy it from. I shot several scenes at different times, it is possible i flipped it. ibb.co/gdbHKm6
@@MajorFrenchy Thanks! Yes I see on the amazon description, mine is GRB
I keep getting an error for the arnoz tiny tools software. Anyone else getting this?
Hi MF! I am just working with my Wemos and I have a B2S backglass on my back box monitor and it works fine. However, There are no globalconfig_B2SServer files in my config folder and I think my Backglass B2S server all runs from the \tables\ folder where all my VPX files are installed by the looks of it. Any ideas how/where I create these globalconfig_b2sserver files if my Pinup popper setup is already looking in that \tables\ folder for B2S?
Seems like way too much work I used led strips that change with sound and music and it's perfect with none of this it interacts with every table differently
how do you add a 2nd wemos board?
My Internet provider keeps blocking DOF website saying it unsafe ? Any ideas?
The site is not Https, maybe that's your ISP being overly aggressive. try a VPN maybe.
@@MajorFrenchy thanks so much

So - how about a tutorial using a teensey controller with no adapter board? Some people have these lying around and may want to use them instead of buying the adapter and wemos boards.
Sorry man. I can't possibly do tutorials on everything. And trust me, a 14$ shield for the controller is worth every penny
Teensy need a level shifter for signal, so you can't use it naked...
your web site down?
yes, i closed it
Good tutorial...but your pin looks really ugly ;) Sorry!
Very constructive comment
Incredible work, I put everything together as you say, but error, the page. config tool, there is no way to log in or create an account, it doesn't work, I couldn't set the LEDs, can you think of something? please.
thanks for everything
What page is that?

That's it, with new email "configtool.universe". It already works for me in fx3 Expetacular!!!.... but in visual thank you
@@MajorFrenchy , "configtool" already works for me creating a new user,... now it works for me in FX3, it's incredible how good it looks,
but in VISUAL-X they don't work for me, any ideas? please.
It's very odd. If DOF works in Fx3 it means your setup is correct . Fx3 uses Doflinx, but Doflinx needs DOF to work. how many tables have you tried in VPX? Have you downloaded and exported the DOF settings from the Online DOF tool and placed the files in your DirectOutput config directory
