Applying Vinyl on Pinball Cabinet

Prep work: I had a 2 nice side plywood to start with, which makes sanding a lot easier. I sanded with 80 grits and moved up to 220 and I primed it black. prior of applying the self adhesive vinyl, I sanded with 220 a few times until I could see the wood grains through the primer. applying the vinyl is easier with 2 person. I bought self adhesive vinyl with air gap release which allows the air t...

Can you make a tutorial for VPX10.8 RC3 full install for a desktop PC with one monitor.(no cabinet) This will bring most new player to this virtual pinball world.
Not enough info. Not Even close. I downloaded MORE THAN 1 pup pack that had multiple files and folders. No clue as to where anything goes. Your video was vague and obscure at best.
Easy to blame someone for someone's lack of knowledge. I spent all my free time for the last 10 years helping folks to the best of my knowledge. Your comment are the kind of comments that just want make me quit the scene....
I'm not blaming you for my lack of knowledge. I thought your video was going to explain how to install Pup packs. Instead it did nothing but confuse me more.
THANKS Major Frenchy for this Video . . .
Absolutely the best tutorials on visual pinball. You are the best.
how do you connect 3 screens to your pi for pinball setup? I only have 2 hdmi ports out on the board so how do i get 3 screens hooked up to it thank you.
I've never done that, but it looks feasible. You will need adapters. forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=243812
If I understood correctly, you said that you would be giving away the ElectroIndia boards. I would really love to have one. I have built three of the red board 0-30V/0-3A type and they all failed, eventually, due to manufacturer faults. I found that to be immensely frustrating. So, building one that would actually work would be a check off on my bucket list. Thank you for considering me.
totally newbie to electronics here, I like your channel, the info and presentation. Thank you for sharing all the info! Since I don't have any spare electronics parts, is there a kit that I can buy that would have all the required small parts in it?
Try something like this amzn.to/4emcnRd
Is it possible to add some sort of screen to keep track of the voltage and current we're using?
Yes, you can add a small lcd screen to the board. Something like this Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! C$2.72 | DC 100V 1A 10A 50A 100A Voltmeter Ammeter Blue + Red LED Amp Dual Digital Volt Meter Gauge Car Motocycle Voltage Current Meter a.aliexpress.com/_mrdqe74
@@MajorFrenchy How would this be installed on the PS you have in this video? TIA
Hi, Excelent video! I want to ask you about a problem I have with the green mosfet board. The kl25z signal is sent and 3.3v reaches the mosfet board, but it does not activate the output signal. I read that this mosfet board needs at least 3.5v to activate the output. How could it reach that voltage? I clarify that I removed the blue LED from the mosfet board to increase the voltage, thank you very much
what makes the pup dmd scoring and media videos show up on the pindmd3. it stopped working for me.
Great video…. Would be better with audio commentary to help the noobies.
With the front artwork over the coin door, how did you ensure a tight clean straight edge vertical cut on both the right and left side so you don’t see a seam? I watched 3x and couldn’t grasp your technique there.
I just ran a sharp exacto blade vertically. At 8:52
Well my flat pack just arrived from pinballcabinet, going to be following this video pretty closely. Wish me luck! Any other tips since the making of this video for assembling the cabinet? more/less nails, screws, support pieces recommended? How did you measure/decide where to mount the playfield monitor?
Taking your time, using a lot of wood glue and strapping it well while drying are probably the most important things to keep in mind. Try to dry fit so you know how to mount it and when you are ready to glue, you will already be familiar with what goes where. As for the Playfield, it will depend how big your screen is, whether or not you want to leave room at the back for a DOT Matrix or 5 LED Bar, I would say start with building the Hinges Playfield panel and set your TV on it to get a good idea where you want it. For me, I want the bottom of the screen as close to the coin door as possible. Good Luck!
@@MajorFrenchy Thank you so much
So you you still need to solder on pins to the kl5z to use the shield? I thought it said no soldering?
You don't need to solder anything on the KlShield. All you need is the pins on the Kl25z solder. You can buy it already solder. ARNOZ has a kit with the Kl25z pins already soldered
Looks great!
Thanks!
I really enjoyed Stranger Things as well. I'm really surprised they've waited so long to release the 5th and final season. 2025. The space between season 4 and season 5 is quite a bit. . They're all gonna be old with their own kids by the time we see it. haha.
Thanks for sharing. How much does vinyl film copy wood imperfections? I noticed you sanded it earlier, did you do a light or very fine job?
I sanded my wood with 80 grits and 220 and primed. Then i used a 220 grits to smooth things up. Some folks even go further and use a 400 grits and wet sand.
Fyi, they sale the diffuser tinted already and it looks great, also it is chip
I used the router to do the channels for the led track and it looks amazing, i strongly suggest you to do it, also it is not in the way when you need to lift the monitor, also used a dark diffuser and you basically don’t see the light on the side when is off Thanks for all your videos, very helpful to everyone
Thanks for the feedback. I thought of routing a channel, but i have enough clearance on both side. My plan is to use the white diffuser and tint my glass with some auto glass tint. I'll have to do a few tests.
@@MajorFrenchy i am building my 2nd table and this one is had this crazy idea I got a used real cabinet with the play field So i took all unnecessary parts of the table and assembled a fill real pinball with all the parts original under my monitor, still working on it but i think it will be crazy real right? I can send you pictures of it later just for reference Thanks, your videos are the best
How did you solve the controller script issues?I’m using vpx 10.7.3
Saw that Wagner released a video demonstrating the general loader tools for the ALP4K, wondering if this opens the possibility of @jsm174 compiling a standalone VPX version.
Incredible work, I put everything together as you say, but error, the page. config tool, there is no way to log in or create an account, it doesn't work, I couldn't set the LEDs, can you think of something? please. thanks for everything
What page is that?
@@MajorFrenchy Traducir texto con tu cámara That's it, with new email "configtool.universe". It already works for me in fx3 Expetacular!!!.... but in visual thank you
@@MajorFrenchy , "configtool" already works for me creating a new user,... now it works for me in FX3, it's incredible how good it looks, but in VISUAL-X they don't work for me, any ideas? please.
It's very odd. If DOF works in Fx3 it means your setup is correct . Fx3 uses Doflinx, but Doflinx needs DOF to work. how many tables have you tried in VPX? Have you downloaded and exported the DOF settings from the Online DOF tool and placed the files in your DirectOutput config directory
Hi. did you use voltboards to setup your LEDS strips and Matrix or are they all connectied directly to the PINMOS. If they are all connected to the PINMOS are all the 5v connections from each LED strip, matrix etc connected to the single GRD connector on the Pinmos
Directly to Pinmos. I never used voltboards for addressable led.
Will this tutorial work for the AtGames BitLCD, or because this isn't a pixilated device it won't work?
Pin up popper and managing media files...wow nothing you can enjoy the most.. next update a dwarf will come out of the screen and will kick your balls tough and hard during record with ffmpeg or draggin your media and you have 20 files plus your media file..enjoy it!!
Hello! great video! So I'm about to start a rebuild of my Vpin and I'm to add 4 addressable LED panels from Cleveland Software. My question is, with the current POVs would you recommend putting the LED panels under the glass and have the monitor tilted down in the back or put the LED panels on the backbox and keep the monitor flush with the glass? It's a mini vpin (Haunted House ToyShock gutted and PC added running Pinup Popper). Thanks for your advice!
When it comes to the Dot Matrix Display, most people pick a location based on the actual layout of their cab. I had one, which I now removed, but it was under the Glass level. The reflection never bothered me, but it bugs certain people. You can always use a tinted plexyglass in front of the panel to dim them and by the same time improving the reflection. This was my setup, and it worked for me.
How do you feel about putting them on the backbox right above the glass or elsewhere on the backbox?
Makes me want to rebuild my cab. Very nice.
How have you been man. Still fixing pinball cabs? That will be one of my project one day. Buy a damaged one and rebuild
@@MajorFrenchyyep. Still fixing up real ones. It’s a hoot. You should try it. Pretty fun to get them working again! I need to get back into the virtual stuff. It was a lot of fun! Haven’t played it much since the babies were born… almost 3 years ago. 😂
still not working after this... triying to figure it out right now... with 64bit I lose DOF and Backglass... if I go back to 32bits works fine... but some tables require 64bits... so... If I get the problem solved I come back here and tell you... thanks anyone for any tip.
Thanks for the video--question, how long a ratchet strap did you use?
I think it was a 15 feet strap but you can always use 2 and use the hook to extend them.
every lately problem I have its about DMD focus... sometimes if I exit a table and run it again it solved... but.. I never found a full solution for that issue... thanks for the last tutorial. great work
Nice video man !!! I really liked the changes you made to the channel.
I've finally taken the plunge and purchased these leaf switches. When you disconnected the wires from the stock buttons, were any special tools needed? Just want to make sure i dont damage the wires when i install mine...
No special tools. If you notice that ths wire does not come off the old button, use a pointy object to push down on the button pin to release it.
@@MajorFrenchy Sounds good...thank you!
Any chance someone can share where to get the <table name>.INI file from.... Looking at my logs after failing to load a table it is asking for the <table name>.ini file.
Use an existing one and just rename it.
i followed video....but when i launch front end, it turns sideways and table turns landscape mode!! This is what I started......ALP...went to hdmi, OTG set for -90 display in windows....main screen in portrait and 2nd display landscape. 100% hard to maneuver in widows with the screen sideways which is why main screen is set to portrait mode.. ran baller installler...followed each step and front end turns to landscape mode and turns the right. thisn is myn 3rd time trying to set this up and each time front end turns to the right in landscape mode. what does the alp otg mode need to be set at and windows, main display needs to be set at?
Set all your screens in normal mode ( landscape ) in windows and in the front end , set 270 degrees . This is how I had mine setup
The registration on vp forum is very difficult, no idea where it is the registration mail...Can you do something?
like the video in general, but hate when it becomes a music play on top of something usefull, in my oppinion you could have told something about crimping and howto, and what to expect or something.. i had to remove sound destroyed it a bit for me.. but content was good
Thanks for the feedback. This is my style of making videos. There is no talking in this video, I don't see how it interferes with useful content. I am sorry you don't like it, but to me that's how I like to present it.
@@MajorFrenchy your allowed to do that as content creator, and i bet everyone wont agree with me thats ok :) and you will never scare me away anyway. Your content is much appriciated, i just want more of your knowlegde instead of music ;)
Hi @MajorfFenchy I like your videos however I notice at 5:50 you krimp the plastic part. May I suggest you krimp the metal part instead. Strip the wire and make sure the copper is in the metal part. That will grip the copper very tight. And leave the plastic part intact as it should be.
@ruudkluivers3697 good catch. I realized it too when I rewatched it. Thank you
With the Dude's board...do no longer need a KLZ?
That is correct. And it does not work with the Pinscape
Great tutorial thanks
There are different options for destop user or VR users???
this is amazing
Is there a way to troubleshoot this, it doesn't work for me. I have checked all settings 3 times and did Nailbuster's tutorial 3 times and the old regular full dmd always come back when the game launches.
What do you mean by the "old regular full dmd" what are you trying to achieve?
@@MajorFrenchy I am trying to use the overlays like you do in your video. I have chosen a video in the media manager and set my screen 5 (apron/fulldmd) to forceback and to stay on. The video shows when the game is loading but when the game starts, the full dmd that came with the backglass shows up on my full dmd screen.
@@gusshultz did you set the keep screen on for 5 in the emulator settings?
@@MajorFrenchy yes
I am literally having the same issue. Screen on for 5 option enabled. Full dmd downloaded at media. It shows in the Popper frontend, but changes back to large regular dmd when table starts
Thanks to you Major Frenchy and to Arnoz! Great video overview of some really nice hardware!
Gotta love Arnoz's stuff, they really work well. My whole cab is powered by Arnoz. What would be great though is if his boards could be stacked/attached togeather like RPi daughter boards are. That way we can just have one central control box so to speak. Obviously the fuses would need to be relocated to the top.
Great recommendation, i will mention it to him.
Am I just blind or is there no English documentation for these boards (yet)? EDIT: It's online now: dude.arnoz.com/dude_Cab_English_guide.pdf
You are right. There is no english documentation yet. I am actually helping Arnoz with that. It will be available in a little while.
@@MajorFrenchy Thank you, it's greatly appreciated! Greetings from Germany.
Is it possible to import a board like this to brazil? Does it work with addressable leds or do I have to buy a another sub board?
I think Arnoz ships worldwide. And this does not do addressable led. The Pinmos board does. I made tutorials on it in the past , you can check my list of videos
@MajorFrenchy thanks Frenchy. Ive been trying to contact the Cleveland guy but the extreme kit is too much to afford and pay the taxes. I don't mind solenoids much, but a shaker plunger and leds would be the sky for me. By the way my board is so simple it only lights one button
Great to see you back. Arnoz puts out the best stuff IMO
Thanks. It has been awhile. Glad to see you watching the videos
Merci petit chaton <3
Ca fais plaisir gros minet
Little details about these boards really do separate them from other options in my mind... love that you can set an LED falloff on the flashers!
Thank you for going over boards with the masses
